Professor Abbigale Hayes had decided to attend the Halloween Feast for many reasons, one, was because both her children were here, so she felt as though she needed to be here, two, was because she had enjoyed it so much last year and three, well, she had to defend her title. Smiling at herself as she finished up with her coat, Abby knew she was ready. As far as costumes went, she was pretty proud of herself. Last year had been a blast and had not been too hard to explain to Ciro what he wanted, as books were books, muggle or no, so the concept of Mr Darcy and Emma had been easy to explain. However this year had required rather a lot more thought. As Abby had also to convince Ciro that it was okay to be seen in muggle attire. Shaking her head as she remembered how much work she had put into his appearance, Abby made her way out of the Professors common room, tucking her arm into Ciro's as she went. She would admit to no-one the real reason she had invited the man to the festivities as it really involved the fact that she was actually getting to like him and was spending as much time with him as she could. She enjoyed his company and that was all anyone needed to know. "You look ever so lovely in that hat, Mr Holmes." Abby told him as the neared the hall.

Inside, Abby was very happy with what she could see. The decorations were amazing and she was none too sour on the costumes of the students either. She saw monsters and mermaids, cats with no whiskers, dogs with three legs and a bird without feathers, witches and goblins and large smiling hamsters, all of these things made her happy inside and out. It was all in good fun. She laughed slightly to herself as a vampire chased a couple of people around and she also spotted Emily about the room in her little assassin attire, though she was yet to see Nate. He'd not let her see what he was wearing, so if he was in a full costume covering his head, she was unlikely to be able to see him. She turned to Ciro again and grinned. "Mr Holmes, would you like a drink or perhaps a snack?" It was customary for the man to retrieve something for the woman, but Abby didn't mind switching roles now and then, sometimes it could do for Ciro to understand that Abby was a very independent woman and that she could look after herself.

Ciro could barely believe he was humoring Abbigale once again with all this dressing up stuff. He appreciated Halloween, but hardly believed in the sharing of lollies and behaving like a five year old, dressing up for the night. Perhaps he looked at things a little too seriously, or perhaps it was because Abbigale never seemed to pick a less... muggle costume for them. The first year he had come out of courtesy, as she had asked him, and he had excepted. Now, however, he was here to humor her once more, keep an eye on the students, and, as she put it, 'defend' their 'title'. In order to be in the running for 'their title', they had to be a couple, with matching or highly related outfits. Which was how he was virtually coerced into the outfit of Sherlock Holmes, some investigator of some sort that Abbigale felt he highly resembled. Not knowing the story, and refusing to entire that Muggle Studies classroom to watch a... television recording of the story, he had to absorb what she said of the character, and in the end allowed her to arrange for his outfit.

He tugged on the hat in a child-like manner, finding the hat to be, at best, a monstrosity. "This... Sherlock character, he is not known for his choice of hats, is he?" Or was this hat supposed to be attractive? A veela couldn't look good in this thing. His eyebrow rose as she complimented him on his hat. She must have been looking at something else. He looked out over the beverage and food table, before shaking his head. "No, I am quite alright. Would you like anything, Abbigale?"

Sidling up to her colleagues, Cyndi smiled at their costumes. “If he’s Sherlock, you must be Watson” she stated with a smile. Nostalgia filled the woman as she fondly recalled having the story read to her by her mother before bedtime. It had been a ritual of sorts for her and her siblings, their mother introducing them to one muggle work after another in her attempt to make sure that her children embraced their muggle side as well as their magical one. The bedtime reading was something that she continued to enjoy with her own children, though she was nowhere near as consistent with it as her mother had been. That was mostly because of the job, which prevented her from being home every night to tuck her children in. “Great hat” the woman added, thinking that Ciro must have been a pretty big fan since he got the hat just right. As she stood beside the pair, the woman bent down slightly to tighten the fabric around her legs. Every time she walked, the linens unraveled a little bit more and it was ruining her mummy costume. She sighed as she tucked in the end, hoping that it would stay put this time, but knowing full well that it wouldn’t. With a jolt, she chuckled as she pulled her wand out and performed a spell to keep the fabric in place. “There” she mumbled as she stood up to her full height once more.

Hope it is ok that I joined. :)

No, Cyndi. Go away :r

Abby shook her head as Ciro proceeded to do exactly what she thought he would regardless of the way she had tried to prevent it. This whole macho this he had going on was annoying. She couldn't be sure, but if he went over there and got her some food and then got some for himself, she was not going to be happy. She sighed. "No, i'm fine thank you. Don't worry." She was still just happy to be here, regardless of anything else. Soon they were joined by their colleague and someone that Abby definitely considered to be a friend. She grinned at Cyndi and nodded. "Definitely, Cyndi. Good catch!" She straightened out her jacket to make sure it wasn't crinkling anywhere, as she hated when that happened. Cyndi's own costume was pretty good and Abby found herself watching in earnest as the woman tried to keep it al together. "Annoying isn't it? I was so glad when Emily changed her mind from being a mummy to being an assassin." Abby at least knew how to use magic to help, poor Emily would have been stuck with using pins and likely would have stabbed herself in the process as she had been rather adamant about doing it all herself. Even though Abby knew that Ciro hated the hat, she just didn't feel right about correcting Cyndi, besides, it would be much more interesting to allow Ciro to agonise over it. He deserved it in her mind. Really. "How have your little ones been, Cyndi?" Abby couldn't quite remember the ages, but they were definitely much younger then her own.
