Oskar had never been good about thinking about the future. He had grown up focusing on getting through a day or maybe a week at a time. It had made sense when he was at Durmstrang or at home with his half siblings. But ever since coming to New Zealand everything had changed, even the vague sense of his future had disappeared. He kept trying things, hoping they'd stick, like quidditch and dueling but every attempt had just proven how unremarkable he was. Now the future was coming at him fast and every thought felt slippery when he tried to hold on to one for too long. With a heavy sigh he reached down and found a rock. It seemed flat enough but when he threw it into the water in attempt to skip it across the surface it simply plopped underneath the surface. He sighed again.

Lucy loved the lakefront. Well, she just loved the outdoors in general. She was going for her usual walk, trying not to think too hard on what the future held beyond yes, being able to see Tempest, and enjoying the start of spring. It was still a little chilly but things were brightening, flowers starting to bud and blossom, and Lucy felt that nature was coming alive. She took her usual turn around the lakefront, seeing Oskar she decided to stop and have a chat. Lucy liked getting along with others, and although she couldn't say she was close to Oskar, she held no bad opinions on him despite him being in Slytherin. "Hi Oskar!" Lucy greeted vibrantly. "Are you skipping stones?" she asked, having caught him just as the rock sunk into the lake. "Gosh, I haven't done that since I was second or third year." Memories seemed to be popping up everywhere nowadays, and Lucy didn't know what to make of the amount of nostalgia she was routinely hit with.

Oskar blinked when he heard someone call his name. He looked over and saw Lucy walking over to him. He hadn't really expected company but he couldn't say he was mad to see her. They weren't friends exactly but she was pleasant enough. "Oh, hey Lucy." he greeted. "Congrats on getting head girl." he added quickly and gestured towards the shiny new badge. He wasn't the most socially aware of who had been in the running for it. He knew Aubrey was sharp but maybe not exactly the best candidate. He laughed a little at himself when she asked if he was skipping rocks. "Yes, but not very well." he sighed. "I might as well have the coordination of a 12 year old."
