[Maria Leingod]

Under the trees, in the places of the canopy where the gracious sun streaked through, Maria Leingod stood with transparent diamonds in her eyes and a pinkish flush hovering over her dollish cheeks. Her hair was parted neatly and precisely into two stunning braids. It was a new hairstyle, and oh-so refreshing in its first foray into a crowd of watchful eyes. She had that endearingly innocent; oddly but artistically transfixing image. Displaying so much within those strawberry blonde curls, a sense of shy exuberance and daring bounced off her frame as she vaguely attempted to punch the front of her shoe into a stray piece of chocolate watching it crumble the farther it rolled away. It slowly got smaller and collected more and more dirt till it finally got to a point where it looked like a pebble.

It was Valentines day.

And as strange as it sound, she hated Valentines day, it's full people who claim that they 'love' you one day of the year. She bet more than half the people have found another partner by the time the so called romantic holiday comes by again. Plus girls like her have a bunch of boys surrounding them saying the same lies and honestly it's just plain annoying, and the very few girls who have feelings for one of them just gets heart broken. Not like she cared of course, well they’re seeing the reality that love doesn't exist but still it's sad and her twin, Sophia, was making her be more considerate of others emotions. “What’s so good about Valentines day?”

Kate walked around the great lawn.It was a beautiful day,the sun was shinning and there was a light breeze.Kate was wearing a simple white sun dress with flip flops.Her hair was in its natural wavy state and she had a small bit of eye liner and mascarra on.She looked happy on the outside but in the inside she was a small bit sad.Today was valentines day.Usually the day had meant nothing to her but since coming to Hogwarts it was a small bit important.She did have a crush and she knew the feelings were mutual but things were a bit complicated.She had received a few cards and even a box of chocolates and she was chuffed that she had some admirers but the person she had wanted a card off of hadn't sent any.But she had sent him one either and in a way it was good neither had because there were lots of things happening,things normal second years wouldn't even think about.

Kate was getting a bit warm so she decided to head for the trees.When she got closer she saw a girl.She looked younger then Kate so she would have to be a first year.She heard her say something “What’s so good about Valentines day?”.Kate walked over to the girl "I guess for lovers its a day they can show each other how much they love each other"Kate said shrugging her shoulders.She wasn't exactly sure herself but when one was single it wasn't that much fun. "I'm Kate by the way"She said smiling at putting out her hand.

Maria hadn't really expected that anyone would hear her small complain about this dreaded time of the year. In fact, she had always thought that she was the only one around the area that when she heard someone talk, she had almost jumped to her feet. Maria had always prided herself for being observant, thus being surprised was not her character at all. Really, this valentines day dilemma was taking its toll on her. Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down, Maria gave a questioning glance to the said intruder. She seemed older than her though, but probably just a few years. Tilting her head to the side at the girl's statement, a frown had formed on her face. "Yeah? valentines day is just too fake in my opinion." She answered in a rather rather too bluntly that she herself had had to flinch at her tone. "They can always show it at any time of the year..." She then added, this time, taking a softer tone. She didn't want to make a wrong impression that she was impolite and all, after all, she was always trying to act civil.

Looking at the girl's hand that was extended in front of her, Maria cannot help but to sigh. "I'm Maria, Maria Leingod." She said as politely as possible as she shook the older girl's hand. The girl reminded her too much of her own sister that it was quite awkward. they're probably on the same house too if her hunch was right then.​

Kate tried not to laugh when the girl got a fright.She hadn't meant to frighten her and she felt a bit bad but that still didn't man it wasn't funny.Kate frowned at the girls answer and tone. "I suppose,but that could all change when you fall in love"Kate said shrugging her shoulders.She wouldn't say anything more as everyone had their own views."But its your choice"She said shrugging her shoulders again.

Kate smiled when the girl sighed.For some reason it amused her."Nice to meet you"She said shaking Maria's hand.Not sure what to do next,she sat down opposite Maria."SO what brings you here"She asked absent-mindedly twirling her hair

Maria had to cover her mouth with her hands in order to stop herself from laughing at the older girl's comment, not that she was trying to act rude or anything, but the words that she had just spoken were enough to actually make her smile a bit. Maria can never imagine herself falling in love with someone, it's just that, she wasn't that sensitive to other people's feelings. "I doubt that it will, why, have you ever fallen in love Kate?" She said with an innocent looking smirk on her face, she doesn't really know the girl that well, but then, it wouldn't hurt if she asked, right?

"Nothing really, just escaping that annoying and mushy atmosphere inside the castle, I don't really want to see those couples acting like the day and the place was all theirs. And well, this is the only place where I can be at peace, no loud students bugging me, and no one following around, what are you doing here? Cause I suppose, you should be celebrating with your loved one on this day, am I right?" Maria turned to look at the girl then, she's quite beautiful if she may say so, so it would be no wonder if she is already involved in a relationship, not that she actually cared then, but from the looks of it, the girl was too nice to even be left alone. "What year are you in?"​

Kate smiled when she saw Maria trying to stop the laughter escaping her mouth.Obviously she wasn't the type of girl who dreamed about falling in love.At the moment Kate wasn't liking Valentines day to much because she did like somebody and she knew the feelings were mutual but that was the last thing that was going through their minds especially because of what happened earlier.Kate's hunch was proved correct when Maria spoke.Kate smiled,she wasn't sure if she should answer after all she hardly knew this other girl but it wouldn't kill her to tell her "Yes"She said.after a slight hesitation.In some ways she wished she hadn't because it had brought a lot of drama into a lot of peoples lives but in other ways she did like it because it made her feel happier

Kate smiled again."A lot of my reasons are the same as yours"She said.She too had found all the couples annoying.They were everywhere.Kate had to admit she was a small bit jealous but she swore she would never go around looking like a love sick puppy like some girls she ha seen.Kate raised her eyebrows "I can safely say you are wrong.Things are a bit complicated in that department.I would have to tell you long story to explain it all and its not that interesting"She said smiling.She was a bit chuffed that Maria had thought she was in a relationship.It made her feel good about herself.
