Maya Corby was indeed very lost. She wasn't used to the vastness of this castle or its grounds and even before being able to get to the common room, she had somehow managed to get herself outside. She didn't remember going through any substantial doors! How did she even get outside. It was a mystery beyond her comprehension for sure. Maya looked around. She appeared to be on a cliff, or something of that nature anyway. She wasn't used to cliffs that had water, in fact she wasn't much used to large bodies of water at all. Should this place not have had a sign or a warning, perhaps a fence? Back home, Maya mused, red tape or lines, even fences were used to keep the students out of bad places. This didn't appear to be a bad place so much as a dangerous one. They used lines for that too at her muggle school. Maya sighed and tugged on her scarf. It wasn't dark yet, but she was sure it would be at some point, it was a rather dark day. It wasn't really that cold, though it was cool so she imagined that New Zealand had cooler weather then what she was used to in Alice Springs. Compared to the weather there, everything was cold, well, sort of. By this point, Maya decided that it would be in her best interest to just stay where she was. Her mother always used to tell her that if she ever got lost, just to stay where she was and someone would find her. Maya knew it made sense, after all, how could you find someone if they kept moving? But Maya didn't like these cliffs and she would really would rather be somewhere else entirely.
Some time later, it was darker now, but Maya was unsure of how much time had passer considering her watch didn't seem to work here, she thought she heard footsteps. Immediately she jumped up from where she had been perched on one of the rocks close to the cliff, but not quite on it, and turned to see who had approached. Naturally she didn't know the boy, but he was definitely older than her by several years and appeared to be wearing a badge. Badges were good! Maya grinned and ran up to him in her panic for help. "Oh! Goodness! Spirits be praised! Am I glad to see you!" Maya called running up and tugging slightly on the boys clothes. "You have a badge! You can help me right? I got lost here somehow. I don't know a thing about magic, my poor dad still finds it hard to cope, I need to get back to the castle, do you know the way?" Maya suddenly squeaked and stepped away from the boy when she realised that she had not even introduced herself to the boy. Gosh, what kind of person was she that she couldn't be polite? She took another step back and grinned at the boy again. "Sorry! Where's my manners? I'm Maya. Nice to meet'cha!" She said, holding her hand out for the boy to shake.
