one morning in early October before going to work leigh wrote a note on a small notecard and then attached it to her little owl Ada's leg. "you know who that is for." she said giving it an owl treat and watched it fly off towards Stephs apartment before she put on her shoes and made her way to work.
a notecard said:
Steph.
Tomorrow afternoon be at your apartment at 3 for a surprise date.
Make sure dress warm.
Love you
Leigh.

The following Day she left work at 2 after the lunch time rush and gent home got changed into a warm t-shirt, jumper and of course her favourite leather jacket with a faux fur collar. she picked up the back of things she had packed and walked her way to Stephs apartment looking forward to the afternoon/evening she had planned. she was thankful that today was slightly overcast and there was rather fresh wind or she would be melting in all these layers but she knew that once she reached the final destination she would be needing it. She knocked on the door before entering as they usually did at each others places. she saw her beautiful girlfriend and hugging her from behind. "Steph." she said squeezing her "Are you ready for a great afternoon, to celebrate a slightly late birthday, and even later anniversary" she said kissing her girlfriend before she could reply. they had both been so busy although they had gone on dates they hadn't had time to do something properly special for their first anniversary months ago, or Stephs birthday the previous month. actually as they were listing things that needed celebrating they may as well add her birthday at the end of the month.

Stephanie Stark was rushing. She was running late. She was already at home, but she had completely lost track of time and because of that, she was not yet ready. Throwing her hands up in the air, Steph tossed a bunch of her clothes out of the draws as she tried to figure out what she was going to wear. She didn't even know where they were going, she hadn't had a shower and she was not even remotely presentable right now. Her hair was a mess, her apartment was a mess (she really had to learn how to clean) and her clothes were now all over the floor. "Oh, for the love of-" Steph cut herself off and decided it didn't even matter. Shaking her head, Steph simply gave up, grabbed a towel and running off to the shower she tried to get herself ready before Leigh arrived. She hated it when Leigh saw her house a mess. Honestly Steph wasn't usually a messy person, but sometimes she just got so caught up in things that cleaning was at the back of her mind. Most of the time she was able to get things clean, but sometimes it just didn't work out that way.

Steph finished her shower and wrapped her body in a towel. She walked around the apartment picking things up and trying to hold her towel up. She hadn't noticed that Leigh had even gotten there until she was suddenly being hugged from behind. Steph smiled and turned around in Leigh's arms, pushing her away slightly. "Ah, Leigh! I'm not dressed." She pulled her towel tighter around her as she stepped away from her girlfriend and looked around for her clothes. "Help me out here, Love, where are we going?" From the look of Leigh, she figured that maybe they were going somewhere cold, but she honestly had no idea. They could be going anywhere. Leigh's birthday was at the end of this month, her own birthday was last month and their anniversary wasn't all that long ago, so really they were celebrating quite a few things with this evenings activities. Stepping over a pile of clothing and picking it up as she went, Steph quickly stepped out of her towel and held up a couple of items of clothing for Leigh to look at. "Which one, the white or the pink?" Steph kind of preferred the pink, but she was happy with the white as well. She kind of wished she had some idea of where they were going. Steph still had to think of a present for her girlfriend. They had exchanged apartment keys some time ago, that had never been an issue, but she still had no idea what Leigh would even want.

it wasn't until Steph pushed her away lightly that she realised what her girlfriend was wearing. "as much as i love seeing you in just a towel we aren't going skinny dipping in some tropical beach" she said joking "that is next year" she jested making it clear it was a joke. though there would be little chance of her being serious, steph should know her well enough by now to know she was not the kind of person to go skinny dipping at all. she watched as steph expertly manoeuvred the piles of clothes on the floor and picked up two shirts asking which one she preferred . the white one was nice but the pink one has writing on it, she read it and it made her chuckle. "the white is nice but the pink, that is hilarious. but make sure you have something warm on under and over. we are going to greenland" she said. it was a country filled with more ice and snow than green things. to be honest was an odd place to pick for a date but it would be worth it. there were things in greenland she had always wanted to see, and she had arranged for the night to be spectacular, n her bag were supplies of a hot picnic, some warm blankets, a bottle of good quality wine, hot chocolate with marshmallows and just in case they needed it some warming potion. "ooh i like that jacket. wear that"she said pointing a to leather looking jacket. "this evening is going to be so good" she said really exited of the prospect of their date. one she had gone all out for.
