The first week of Hogwarts had gone by and at last Kanako had a moment of peace. She'd spent the morning baking in the Hogwarts' kitchen, annoyed by the house elves but co-existing well enough. Now she was enjoying the fruits of her labour - an orange-flavoured chiffon cake. Kanako had settled down on the great lawn by herself, under a tree. It was a bit chilly out but the sun was shining, so it wasn't too bad. She kind of wished she had someone to share the cake with, but as it was, she could probably give some away to her dormmates. Some of them at least. Kanako sat eating and considering who she liked the least amongst her roommates. The chiffon texture was good, but perhaps the orange was a tad too subtle. Something to consider for next time, she thought to herself.

Lumos hadn’t been looking for Kanako, that would have implied they were friends and they weren’t, but they weren’t enemies either, at least he didn’t think so. He’d enjoyed messing with her last year during the duels and he knew she had a bit of a vendetta with Tori, or Tori had one with her - either way, Tori wasn’t here anymore, and wouldn’t be for a while last he’d heard and since he wasn’t friends with Tori anymore he didn’t exactly feel bad about looking for friendship with Kanako - if she was willing anyway. She might not have been. The soft scent of orange and sugar distracted him entirely as he headed in that direction, he’d been trying to find Jonah on the pitch, actually, but his stomach was calling him. He wished he could bake, Jonah had baked something for him last year, but he couldn’t bake and he had no idea how to pay Jonah back. “Hey Kanako,” he called as he approached her, wondering if she would be made he’d disturbed whatever peace she seemed to have found right now. “I hope you don’t mind me telling you how amazing that smells. Did you make it?”
