Charms 1:4

Lyra was looking forward to this class. The brunette hummed as she set about the room, her hair carefully brushed and her robes swishing gently around her. When everything was ready, she took her seat at her desk, and with a dainty flick of her wrist, the doors opened. She smiled warmly as the students filed in. "Hello, everyone. Take your seats," she called, waiting until they were all seated before standing. "Welcome," she greeted warmly.

She motioned then to the mountains of pillows around her desk. "I trust you've noticed the newest addition to our class. Unfortunately, we aren't building forts. We're learning a new spell!" She offered cheerily. Building forts was something her kids had loved to do with her when they were little."Accio. I trust you've all done your reading, so can anyone tell me what this spell is?" She looked around, pointing to a raised hand. "Very good!" She beamed. "Five points."

Lyra smiled, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Now, I'd like us to practice this. Be specific, now, or you may summon more pillows than you'd like. As always, the wording of your spells is crucial. Your wands are very powerful, and if you do not focus, if you do not concentrate your power, you can easily overwhelm yourself. I'm right here if you need anything, do not hesitate to ask if you would like my assistance."

She smiled, stepping back. "Everyone, I'd like you to practice summoning a cushion. At the end of the lesson, everyone, please take your cushion with you. A small reward for a spell well done. Off you are then." She returned to her desk, smiling, watchful to see if any students needed her attention.

Charms was a great class, and Tori enjoyed making the trek all the way down to the third floor every morning when she had it. She was pretty sure a lot of it had more to do with the professor teaching it than with the actual subject matter to be fair, but she didn't think that would matter so much if she was honest. Still, she shouldn't be so sour, she didn't know what the old professor (new to her) was going to be like. It was kind of exciting. but also she would be sad to lose professor Potter, she'd grown to like the woman in the short time she had been teaching, and she had been kind of glad to learn what little she had about her dad, even if it had sort of amounted to nothing.

When the class officially started, Tori's eyes were immediately drawn to the pillows surrounding the professor's desk. She couldn't help the grin that rose on her face at the sight, curious about what this lesson was going to entail. She quickly took her seat, greeting Professor Potter with a polite nod. And then the professor explained the purpose of the pillows and Tori's grin grew wider. She put her hand up to answer the question, "it's the summoning charm, Professor," she noted, excited to get things started. She earned five points and that really excited her.

When it was time to practice, Tori gripped her wand determinedly her mind focused on the task at hand. She whispered "Accio cushion," her voice clear and deliberate. To her delight, one of the pillows lifted smoothly into the air and flew toward her, landing gently in her arms. She couldn't help but smile at her success, the satisfaction of mastering a new spell evident in her expression. As the class continued, Tori practiced a few more times, making sure she had full control over her wand’s power and accuracy. She appreciated Professor Potter's reminder about the importance of focus and concentration, and it spurred her to perfect her technique. By the end of the lesson, Tori felt confident and proud of her progress, tucking the cushion under her arm as she left the classroom, eager to continue practicing her new skills.

Esme’s imagination ran wild when she entered Professor Potter’s classroom and saw a mountain of cushions around her desk. Once she had taken a seat at her own desk the professor started to fill them in. Unfortunately, they weren’t for building a fort which would have been fun. Instead, it was for that lessons spell practice. She listened as Professor Potter explained the summoning charm accio, now that would be a useful charm for Esme to know, being able to summon things into her hand from range would be great, though it might make her a little lazy.

Once Professor Potter had finished explaining the spell Esme took out her wand and began to practice, pointing her wand at the cushions by Professor Potter’s desk and whispering, “Accio,” She lost count of how many times she tried but eventually one of the cushions shot towards her and he managed to catch it. When the lesson was over she packed up and made her way out of the classroom hugging her new cushion.

Nox entered the room with a curious look, immediately noticing the piles of pillows stacked around Aunt Lyra's desk. He took his seat as she greeted the class and felt a wave of excitement when she mentioned they’d be learning the summoning charm. Summoning charms sounded like a lot of fun, and Nox had been eager to try one since he had first read about them.

Listening carefully to Aunt Lyra’s instructions, he nodded at her words about concentration and focus. He wasn’t going to risk summoning more pillows than necessary. When it was time to practice, Nox raised his wand with purpose, his eyes locked on a single pillow. "Accio cushion!" he said firmly, concentrating on the object. At first, nothing happened, but after another deep breath, he tried again, making sure to focus harder on the specific pillow he wanted. This time, it wobbled a bit before flying towards him and landing in his hands with a soft thud. Nox grinned in satisfaction, pleased with his success.

As the lesson continued, he practiced a few more times, getting better with each attempt. By the end, Nox was happy with his progress, and when Aunt Lyra reminded them to take their pillow as a reward, he grabbed the one he had summoned, giving her a small smile as he left the classroom.

Jasper was interested in the summoning charm, it sounded extremely useful for reaching high up things or being lazy and not getting up to collect an item. He listened to Professor Potter then got started practicing the spell himself, "Accio," at first there was nothing, but after a few attempts and focusing really hard, Jasper did manage to summon a cushion. The professor said they could keep their cushion, but Jasper didn't really want it so he left it behind then headed out of the classroom at the end of the lesson.
