Mikael knew he was not the best at being social. He wasn't even good at it. He had a very small group that he would consider friends and even looking at who was in the group was a very good indicator that he wasn't the best at making friends. There was his cousin (Hinata), his roommate (Horror), his roommate's twin (Terror), and his cousin's roommate (Bailey). He already had a small group of friends as it was so he really should not have been avoiding or alienating even one of them. He just hadn't been able to help it because aside from not being the best at being social, he was also not the best person in general. His Hogwarts life had kind of been shaken ever since Elio had entered the school. It was probably universally known that Mikael did not share. He didn't like sharing anything or anyone. Which is probably how he became with Terror and Bailey.

In any case, Mikael did not like sharing. And Elio. Well. Before Elio had come to Hogwarts, Elio had been his. Granted he hadn't understood back then just how much he thought of Elio as his or why he thought that, having the older Gryffindor gallivanting around the female population of Hogwarts had grated on his nerves. Severely. And when he'd heard about Elio and Bailey. Well, he'd actually started avoiding both of them. But Elio was a little more persistent, and it had begun with the Yule Ball and then the Nightray Ball, and now, they were a couple and he was still avoiding Bailey. And he was starting to maybe, just maybe, feel a little bad about it. Especially since he hadn't sent her his usual birthday gift when her birthday had passed months ago. He wasn't even really annoyed with her since months ago. But it had become a bad habit and maybe he'd been thinking what if she started hanging around more and Elio realized that he liked Bailey more? So yeah. That was happening. And that was annoying. But somehow, he kept doing it. Like today when they had Herbology together and he made sure to sit quite away from where Bailey and Hinata sat and then left the Greenhouse quickly. Yeah. Bad habit.

Bailey had gotten the distinct impression that Mikael was giving her the cold shoulder. It was impressive since the two of them weren’t exactly friends, they were in the same year and were vaguely in each other extended social circles, but it wouldn’t be considered strange for the two of them not to talk to each other for significant periods of time. Despite this, Bailey felt like Mikael was specifically avoiding her lately which was an impressive feat from the Slytherin.

After he had gone out of his way to avoid her in Herbology, Bailey decided it was the final straw and followed him out of class and caught up with him on the great lawn. “Oi sour puss,” She called out to him, making sure to put herself in front of him once she had caught him to make sure she couldn’t mistake her intention and think she was calling after someone else. “What’s your problem with me?”

Mikael had hoped that his exit would have been completely unnoticed. Unfortunately, one yell from the person he was trying to avoid made it quite obvious that he was not successful in the least. And sour puss? Who was she calling a sour puss? He was no sour puss. Ergo, she couldn't have been calling out to him. He really shouldn't have let himself get distracted though because it provided Bailey the perfect opportunity to corner him. "I'm not a sour puss," he almost glares at her, petulant. "And I have no problem with you," because of course Mikael was not really one to admit when he's probably not quite in the right here. Still, maybe he could get away with pretending that he hadn't been avoiding her in the last... what? three? maybe four months? He's been busy. He could be busy. Granted he was never really known for developed study habits, maybe he had a change of heart this year. He would have the grades to show for it. Yeah, he could ride with that. He was totally not avoiding Bailey. He'd just had a very busy few months, on top of getting himself a boyfriend. That was all.

Bailey suppressed a laugh when Mikael insisted he wasn’t a sour puss, he was wrong but it wasn’t the point. At least he was talking to her that was a good start. “Really? Your face says otherwise,” She teased him lightly trying to lighten the mood. She raised her eyebrow when he insisted he didn’t have a problem with her, that wasn’t what his actions, face and general demeanour around her said. “Right ok, I guess you just ignore everyone then? Don’t think I don’t notice how you tense up whenever I go anywhere near Elio, come on out with it, what’s your problem?”

His face. How in Merlin's name was he supposed to adjust his face? He was born with this face. Mikael could feel his frown growing deeper as he glared at the Hufflepuff before him. Why was he even bothering with trying to pretend he was not avoiding her? He could be avoiding her for this abuse on his person alone. "I do ignore everyone," because everyone was annoying. He was stuck with her because Hinata would surely be upset if he were to... fight... with her roommate. Sometimes, it would be nice if he'd be allowed to just strangle her though. Sometimes. And then of course he tenses up at the mention of her coming near Elio and it was only really because she mentioned it. "I don't have a problem but I am starting to have one." Maybe Hinata wouldn't notice her roommate gone. The lake was right there.

Bailey wasn't buying it, but she wasn't about to stand in the middle of the grounds until Mikael caved, he was clearly a stubborn a** who could stand there all day insisting the sky was green if it meant not admitting he was wrong. "Fine whatever you say grumpy, I'll just go and hang out with Elio, I'll tell him you said hi," She smiled sweetly at him and turned to start walking away. She was either about to successfully bait him into tell him what her problem was, or he'd ignore long enough that she'd actually have to walk away.

Mikael could see just how much Bailey did not believe him. And honestly, this was probably a little bit of why they were sort of friends. They were both stubborn people and while it was usually enough a reason for them to egg each other on, they weren't truly clashing. It was more of an I-wish-I-could-kill-you-but-I-can't-and-no-one-else-is-allowed-to-kill-you kind of thing. "I am not grumpy," he glared again before he looked at her in utter indignation. "Stop trying to steal my boyfriend," he snapped as he followed her. He knew she wasn't going to. He knew that. Elio had even assured him at one point or another that there was no one else. It was hard to forget though that his boyfriend had been with multiple girls in the castle mere weeks before getting together with him. Sure, it was all before they even got together but how was he even supposed to compete with girls like Bailey.

Bailey wasn’t expecting Mikael to actually come out any say it, but it was about what she has expected to be behind his grumpy attitude. He didn’t like her being friends with Elio, where he got the idea she was trying to steal him was beyond her, they had fooled around a couple of times before he and Mikael were a thing, but she’d barely so much as touched him since, they were friends now, partly because her father had put the fear of merlin into him and partly because there had never been anything more between them than having a little fun, it was never going to last. “Mikael, I am not trying to steal your boyfriend, where would you get that idea from? He’s my friend you miserable git,”

Mikael would be pouting if he didn't think it was beneath him. As it was, he had no idea what expression he had on his face but he and Bailey had known each other and been in each other's circle for a while now. This meant that she hardly found him intimidating and he would not be able to get rid of her even if he tried. "Fine. I know you're not trying to steal him," he snapped at her. Because he does know she's not trying to steal Elio. They might not get along on the best of days, but Kael... Kael trusted her to a degree. And he trusted Elio. So he knew. But he still... It was hard to explain the worry that one day, Elio would wake up and just... Kael wouldn't be enough. "You could accidentally steal him." He doubted she would accept that explanation any better but that was the best he go. "And I am not miserable woman stop calling me names."
