History Before Hogwarts: Carter was born at exactly four in the morning. As a baby, he was very energetic and often got himself into things that he shouldn't have. He was the youngest until his little sister, Ingrid, was born two years later, followed by another brother, Phillip, two years later. Carter was the most like his father in both looks and personality and so as a child, his father tended to favour him. This meant that Carter got all of the favoured toys and was allowed to spend time with his father on a regular basis. Through this, Carter garnered a love of both books and law. Wilfred is a Ministry Official with the Wizengamot Administration Services and Carter spent a lot of time in the Ministry offices reading over old transcripts of the proceedings that happened inside. He really enjoyed it and often bugged his father to let him do more than just look at the transcripts, but to sit in on a prosecution. Eventually, his father relented and for the first time in his young life, Carter became terrified of a person. His very first trial - he was ten years old - was a man who claimed to be innocent of the murder of his wife's muggle family. At first Carter believed him, as he looked quite haggard and repentant when the Aurors brought him in, but over the course of several hours, Carter began to see a change in the man, a squib, from the man's wife's family, was brought in to testify on the family's behalf and (thinking it was a muggle) the man went berserk almost killing himself and several Aurors in the process. Wilfred had, of course, rushed his son out of harm's way, but the damage had been done and he was traumatised. For several weeks after the incident, Carter found it difficult to sleep without fear of dreaming about the crazed man. He never found out what happened to him, fearing to even mention the name, but he lived in the knowledge that there was no way a display like that could have gone unpunished. If not for the murder of his wife's family, then certainly for the near deaths and serious injury of a few aurors.
At six years old, Carter developed a fear of heights. His eldest brother, Kiefer, had learned a new spell whilst away in school and although his sister Helene had begged him not to use the spell (untested) on Carter, Kiefer insisted that all was well and that Carter would not be harmed. Being the curious little brother that he was (and bored of playing house with his younger siblings) Carter wanted to help his brother out and be "one of the big kids". So the three of them went out into the Garden and Kiefer went about teaching Carter and Helene all about the new spell he had learned and how it was able to levitate anything as high as he wanted it. Carter had become increasingly curious and awed by the perceived power of his older brother and wanted to see it work for himself, however, being too young and not in the possession of a wand, Carter reluctantly made do with allowing his brother to levitate him up to the top of the trees (though they were not very tall trees) and then place him back safely on the ground. Though Helene again begged her brother not to do it, as they now had an audience in the form of Ingrid and Phillip (and she was not totally confident in her brother's ability), Kiefer simply ignored her and set his mind to levitate his young brother to the top of the trees. At first, everything went rather well, as Carter stayed as still as he could and allowed his brother to move him around slightly. However, very slowly, Carter started to move around a little bit at the urging of Kiefer and eventually he was almost falling and being caught again. Soon, tragedy struck when Carter had been placed a little too high and Kiefer had let him go so as to catch him again, in that moment however, Kiefer dropped his wand and was too late to catch Carter who had fallen almost two stories. He was not killed, but he was seriously injured and had broken both of his wrists, his left leg, his pelvis, a couple of ribs and cracked his skull. On top of that he had a very serious concussion. Many weeks later his father told him that Kiefer was banned from using his wand at home until he could learn proper control. To this day, Carter finds it difficult to deal with even slight heights, though he doesn't admit it to anyone. However, this incident also managed to cost him the chance at learning to ride a horse as his mother decided to wait for him to learn. (later in life Carter became disinterested in learning and decided it wasn't really worth it anyway.)
Carter was almost eleven years old when he learned of the existence of a whole separate section of his family that occupied New Zealand. Previous to this he had not even heard of the Kaster's being anywhere outside of Germany or other parts of Europe, though they were based mostly in Germany. He learned of their existence now because of a conversation he over heard between his Father and his Grandfather. Carter's father Wilfred wanted to contact his brother Gregory and try to convince him that he needn't isolate himself from the rest of the Kaster's as he had been doing for many years. Carter's Grandfather, Ambros IV, had very different ideas about this. He believed that because Gregory had abandoned his family, he did not deserve to be contacted nor be allowed to return to the home in the near or far future. The revelation that Carter had another family outside of Europe intrigued him and caused an obsession to overwhelm him. For a number of weeks, leading up to his eleventh birthday, Carter went through all the family history books he could find, searching for any mention of this other family. It wasn't until the day of his birthday that he actually mentioned to find anything. Gregory was an obscure entry in one of his father's ancestral books and from there he was able to wrangle a family tree that included his Uncle Gregory, his wife Alice and their (at the time) eight children. Though he never found any pictures, not that he was expecting too, having been able to complete his first real challenge, and being told to stop looking at every turn, Carter discovered a love for books and for research, both of which became very valuable to him in his future.
History At School: Year 2017-2018

Carter turned eleven on the fifth of May in two thousand and seventeen. He received his letter that night and was completely thrilled that he would be attending the magical school alongside his Slytherin brother Kiefer, who was in his final year and his Hufflepuff sister, Helene, who was in her third year, having started at the age of twelve instead of eleven. His first year at Hogwarts (Scotland) was mostly uneventful. Carter was sorted into Ravenclaw and made a number of decent friends. He didn't enjoy flying at all and often found that he would feel sick whilst in the air. He was convinced that this was because of his fear of heights and never quite got to the point of forgiving his brother. Carter did, however, excel in Charms and it became clear to the school right away, that he would need further instruction to supplement his learning in the classroom as he was often way ahead of the other students. It was in this same year, that Carter decided that he was never going to be terribly good at Astronomy, but being so stubborn, he absolutely refused to drop the subject leading to a rather bad exam result. In the break between his first and second year, Carter really began to re-accustom himself to his father's work and went back to going into work with his father. He grew more and more interested in how the Wizengamot worked and how the laws of the Ministry were created, thus he rekindled his love of laws and working with his father. He continued to go to the trials, though he was apprehensive about running into the trauma again. With nothing bad happening, Carter inquired about an internship with the Ministry and he was advised to return to them in his fifth year, so that they could reevaluate his dedication and ability to work. Also in this year, Carter's mother managed to obtain an arranged marriage contract for his older brother. Carter felt sorry for Kiefer as he decided that he would never want an arranged marriage, however, his brother seemed quite happy with it and so Carter congratulated him on a happy marriage and many children.
Year 2018-2019
<SIZE size="50">
Carter's second year at Hogwarts saw the loss of his brother from the school. This was not a great tragedy, however, as Carter soon was able to move out of his older brother's shadow and forge his own path. Kiefer had been successful athletically as well as having some academic skill as well. Upon his leaving, Carter was able to grab hold of that fame and shoot his way to the top of most of his classes. Of course, he still excelled in Charms and there seemed to be nothing they could stump him with. During Christmas, Carter discovered that his brother's betrothed was now pregnant with his child and Carter was very happy with his brother. Despite both of them being so young, the family had a huge ceremony. Young parentage was not uncommon in the Kaster family; his mother and father had been twenty and twenty-one themselves and many of his aunts and uncles were of the same age when they were having children. Returning to the school on a high, Carter discovered quite a knack for numbers and began to also be taught more advanced math then what was normally taught. This pleased Carter as he had a great thirst for knowledge that he always wanted to alleviate. Carter gained his first really close friend in this year, Jace Anderson. Carter and Jace were two completely different people, but they got along really well and as it turned out, their fathers worked at the Ministry together. By the end of the year, Carter and Jace were basically inseparable and seeing as they were from different houses, that was saying something. Even though Jace was a Gryffindor, they were barely apart and Carter managed to make a few more really close friends thanks to Jace. In the break between his second and third years, Carter's nephew was born. They named him Alfred, to which everyone affectionately nicknamed him Alfie. Carter enjoyed having a baby around the house again as there had not been a small child around since Phillip and Carter had only been a child himself on that occasion. In this year too, Carter's Grandfather stepped up to a more official capacity as Patriarch. Even though he had been Patriarch for a number of years already, Carter's Great-Grandfather Dietrich I became ill and died not long before Kiefer's Graduation allowing Ambros IV to officially and completely fill the role.
Year 2019-2020
Carter began his third year with the announcement of his sister's appointment to Prefect. Carter was slightly annoyed by this as he had wished to be Prefect before her, but he had forgotten that his brother had also made Prefect and so it really didn't matter if she got Prefect or not, as he was not going to be the first either way. Having failed to select his electives at the end of his second year, Carter's were chosen for him and he was stuck with the elective of; Arithmancy, Muggle Studies, Care of Magical Creatures and Alchemy. Though he soon discovered that he did rather well at both Care of Magical Creatures and Arithmancy, was top of his class in Muggle Studies, but really struggled with Alchemy. He found it to be a distinctly boring subject. In this year, Carter had his first crush. She was an upperclassman from his own house who often helped the younger years to study. He wasn't sure what he liked about her, but he was pretty sure it was her name. Zuri. He had never heard it before. Eventually, he did pluck up the courage to tell her that he liked her and she smiled slightly before turning him down saying she already had a boyfriend, not that Carter had been all that surprised. He had seen her spending a lot of time with a Hufflepuff boy, he had just hoped maybe it wasn't her boyfriend. On later reflection he realised it would never have worked, considering she was a sixth year, but he gave himself points for trying. Carter also managed to gain another close friend, Dalton Airhart, another Gryffindor and again his complete opposite. He, Jace and Carter all got along extremely well, considering their differences. The second half of this year consisted of Carter, Dalton, and Jace getting themselves stuck out in the Greenhouses after dark where they then had to spend the night. Amazingly they were able to sneak back into the castle in the morning. They owed it to the fact that they had Herbology that morning and were usually quite early so it had not surprised the Professor when they had appeared to be very early. In this year, Carter's younger sister Ingrid also started school and was sorted into Hufflepuff. This made him happy as he was able to make sure that Helene looked after her and kept her out of trouble.
Year 2020-2021
With Helene in sixth year and Ingrid now in second, Carter's fourth year was always going to be interesting. The start of the year saw Carter following his older sister around on her breaks and bugging her about how she became prefect and if she was properly looking after their youngest sister, Ingrid. Carter became more sociable in this year and developed another crush on a girl in his year. Her name was Lily and they studied together a lot, though he mostly just looked at her and smiled. It was around this time as well, that Carter also started seeing his best friend Jace hanging around his little sister. He eventually discovered that Jace quite liked his sister and deciding that it was both weird and not what he wanted for his young sister, Carter decided to terminate his friendship of two years with the boy in a bid to limit the boy's time with Ingrid. His friendship with Dalton, however, continued and only grew stronger. Being so bad at Astronomy, Carter eventually resigned to the idea of getting himself a tutor. He found one in the form of a slightly older girl by the name of Hayden Bane. Hayden was a fifth year in Ravenclaw and she tended to get quite high grades in all of the classes he was lacking in, namely, Astronomy. Hayden and Carter developed a good relationship and in their spare time, they also talked a lot about Politics and Law. She encouraged his interest in the subjects and even went so far as to mention that she wanted to become a lawyer for wizarding and muggle when she graduated. Carter encouraged her in turn and by the end of the year they were friends outside of tutoring. In this year Carter also had his first kiss. During the end of year ceremony, Carter and his crush, Lily shared a kiss in the corridors as they said goodbye to each other. During the break between his fourth and fifth years, Carter's mother became seriously ill and almost died. For many weeks she was in and out of consciousness. Carter and his family grew more and more worried as many of the Healers were unable to tell them what was wrong. However, not long before his fifth year, his mother regained her strength and began to recover. Though she was better, the family stayed shaken.
Year 2021-2022
Carter entered his fifth year a prefect alongside Dalton, but still reeling from the bad health of his mother. Helene moved into her last year, Ingrid became a third year and Phillip was sorted into Hufflepuff as well. Carter was not surprised to see that he now had three siblings in Hufflepuff as they were all very similar in personality. The four siblings often spent much of their time together, mostly to discuss their mother's recovery and what would happen if she had not recovered as quickly as she was. Losing their mother would have been hard on them, as they would have needed to step up. Helene agreed that she wasn't ready to be the mother to her family yet and they all agreed that Phillip and Ingrid were too young to lose their mother, not that they would be able to do anything about it if she actually did die. Carter's grades suffered during the first semester as they did for his siblings. Being so worried about their mother as they were, Carter and his siblings grew more and more depressed and anxious as the year went on and eventually the professors began to notice. Each professor offered Carter and his sibling's extra lessons and help if they needed it. They understood how harrowing an illness of a family member could be and allowed the Kaster's to grieve. During the break, Carter, Ingrid, Helene and Phillip, spent all of their time with Ursula and began to see an improvement in her health again. By the beginning of the second semester, Ursula was mostly recovered and the Kaster's were able to focus on their schooling again. Their grades picked up quickly and at the end of the year, Carter ended up having earnt the most points for his house. Though Ravenclaw did not win the house cup that year, it went to Gryffindor, they enjoyed a celebratory party with the Hufflepuffs mostly for the benefit of him and his family. They were also celebrating a Quidditch win, which was quite a feat in itself. The break between his fifth and sixth year saw Carter returning to the Ministry seeking an internship. He was lucky enough to receive one and started his internship in the summer.
Year 2022-2023
Carter was now in his sixth year. Ingrid moved into fourth and Phillip made it to his second year. As a Prefect Carter took on a lot of responsibility as he was known well by his peers as thriving on responsibility. Following his internship in the previous summer, Carter became very knowledgeable about the world of politics and often helped his peers with anything they might need as he was always a strong believer in helping those that need it. Kiefer finally managed to figure out what he wanted to do for a career and joined the Ministry in the Floo Regulation Control branch. Helene also found a job, as a Professional Curse Breaker. She had always been very good at that kind of spell. In this year as well, Ingrid managed to get lost in the Forbidden Forest and it was only after four hours of searching on his own that Carter was able to find her. He had been apprehensive about telling the Professor's she had wandered in there and so he felt it was up to him to find her. He was very thankful he did and that she was relatively unharmed save for a few scratches and bruises. Though the professors never found out, Carter and Phillip discussed it at length and she was not allowed out of their sight for the remainder of the year. They never found out what took her to the Forbidden Forest in the first place, but they couldn't be sure she wouldn't do it again. In the second semester, Carter managed to get himself his first proper girlfriend. A Prefect from the Gryffindor house, Penelope ****son. Carter enjoyed patrolling with her and they shared many of the same interests. Unfortunately, just before the end of the year, Penelope's Mother died and her father grew sick and so she was forced to drop out of school to help care for her sick mother and her younger siblings. Carter was a little disheartened, but he got over it fairly quickly and managed to finish his year out with good grades and a final bang when the Ravenclaws won both Quidditch and the House Cup. Carter and Dalton continued to ignore Jace throughout this year as Dalton loyally supported Carter in his desire to keep Jace away from Ingrid. Though he tried to convince Carter that he should back down a little, Carter disagreed and the pair decided to agree to disagree.
Year 2023-2024
As Carter entered his final year as head boy, he had been surprised by the choice to make him headboy, because to be honest he wasn't exactly a social butterfly. His only friends were an extremely small circle and of those he only really spent quality time with his bestfriend of four years Dalton. Carter's sister Ingrid managed to make Prefect and Phillip became a third year. Phillip had joined the Quidditch team the previous year and was now a prized chaser for the team, which made both Carter and Ingrid proud. (As well as other important family members) Focusing on their NEWTs, Carter and Dalton started to drift apart, until Dalton devised an obviously poor stunt to get them to spend more time together. Dalton started to date Carter's sister. This angered Carter greatly and he saw it as a betrayal as he had made it clear to Jace, with Dalton present, that he did not want anyone he was associated with, dating his sister. She was far too young. However it was eventually revealed that Dalton wanted Carter to be upset so that he would make an effort to see him, if only to tell him off. Eventually Carter got over it and he was able to see the trick for what it was and happily forgave his friend. By the second semester, the seventh years were all in shambles as they drove themselves crazy through studying. Carter thrived on all the extra work and was glad to hold study groups for everyone. He and the Headgirl had not spoke much previously but over the year they had mutually agreed that the most important thing for them right now, was their studies. By the end of the year, Carter had graduated with good grades and was ready to face the world. At some point during the year, Carter spent a week ignoring Dalton after he discovered that his friend had somehow managed to blow up the potions lab, which happened to be one of Carter's favourite subjects. Eventually though they managed to repair the lab, with minimal effort, which made Carter happy again.
History After School: Carter graduated with honours, as did his small circle of friends. Carter spent the remainder of the year catching up with the friends he had lost over the course of his schooling, including Jace Anderson. Upon reflection of his fourth year, Carter decided that maybe he had acted rather harshly and decided that his friendship with the boy need not suffer any longer. Managing to track him down with the help of his father, Carter quickly found it within himself to apologise for treating him so badly. Jace agreed that he was also at fault for thinking it would be okay to like Ingrid even after Carter had made it clear that he didn't want anyone going near his twelve year old sister. The former friends made up and Jace invited Carter to a Quidditch game he would soon be playing in. Carter was surprised to learn that his friend had not graduated like the rest of the year as he had been recruited to play Quidditch in the break of Sixth and Seventh year. Carter congratulated Jace and happily invited Dalton and his family along to watch Jace, the Chaser for his chosen team. Though Carter was not a big fan of Quidditch he was happy to see his friend doing well and cheered him on regardless. Ingrid however, a big fan of Quidditch and a fan of that team in particular hung around Jace a little more then Carter would have liked. Though he was not happy about it, Jace and Ingrid dated for a little over a year. The pair eventually broke apart but remained good friends. Though Carter was glad for the break up, he didn't actually tell them and rather preferred to remain silent on the issue. He was glad when Ingrid returned to school and refrained from mentioning the relationship again. Towards the end of the year, Carter ended his internship at the ministry and instead entered completely into the International Magical Office of Law. This was not the place his father was, but it was the place that he felt offered him the most challenge and experience. He was always a big fan of Law and so he decided that this would be the best place for him. In the same year, Dalton moved to Romania to become a Dragontamer. This decision really surprised Carter as he never would have thought of his friend in such a job.
Not long after becoming a Ministry Official, Carter was approached by a young girl by the name of Tarana Raine. It turned out that she was a reporter and was looking for a story to help her get her internship. Carter told her that he was from a long family of Ministry Officials, Aurors and Healers. Tarana was excited about this and decided that she would write her article on Carter and his association with the Ministry and its workings. They got along rather well and after a couple of months, the pair started to date. Tarana was Carter's first serious relationship, though it didn't last longer than a couple of months, she set the standard to which all other women were held. Tarana was classy, sophisticated and knowledgeable. She was also funny, sexy and romantic. Many of these traits were also in Carter and he found that he got along easily with Tarana, despite her tendency to question everything. Though they split on bad terms, Carter always remembered her very fondly and often found himself checking in on her from time to time. Eventually, they were able to make up and regard their relationship with fondness rather than bitterness. Though they are not often in touch, whenever Carter is back in England he often finds time to meet up for a coffee with Tarana to talk. It was around this time that Carter also managed to track down his old girlfriend Penelope, whom he'd lost touch with after she was made to leave school before Graduation. It turned out that she had gotten married not long afterward and was now expecting her second child. Though Carter was disappointed in her life choices, he was also glad that she had found happiness. His relationship with Penelope, though fleeting, had been strong at the time.
Carter's job in the ministry was pretty basic and because The International Magical Office of Law monitors the laws and policies set down by the International Confederation of Wizards and advises Britain's Minister for Magic and the Wizengamot on matters of international law in order to prevent contradictions between British magical law and its international counterpart, he felt pretty good about his position. He was a very logical and methodical person by nature and he was also well versed in law, both traditional and modern. Carter often felt that his father would have served better in the Law office than in the Wizengamot, but he also couldn't knock the appeal. Carter often thrived on the challenges thrown at him, albeit he also tended to become rather smug when he won, but mostly it was well deserved. Eventually, on his twenty-third birthday, Carter's mother once again presented him with another marriage contract. He was all set to turn it down, yet again, when he found that she actually wasn't as bad as he had feared she might be. Kaya Mason was the most beautiful and compassionate woman that Carter had ever met and by this point, he was so done with his mother's meddling that he would have done anything to keep her out of his hair. Kaya seemed to be the answer to all of his problems and the pair hit it off extremely well. Kaya was intelligent, witty, caring, interested in law as he was and she was also willing to get to know him before committing to a life with him. These were all unexpected of a woman chosen by his mother, but he supposed that there was always one exception to a rule. Carter and Kaya dated for two and a half years before eventually breaking it off. Unbeknownst to anyone, however, was the fact that prior to their breakup, Kaya, and Carter had actually been engaged. They mutually decided afterward that they were not as compatible as they and others had hoped and so parted very amicably. Recently Carter heard that Kaya is set to marry a wealthy accountant from London and has been asked to give her away, at the loss of both her parents some time ago. Carter was thrilled with the news and immediately accepted the offer. He's not met the intended groom but was assured by Kaya that he knows their history and is quite happy to have Carter in attendance.
Carter's willingness to learn and ambition to thrive made him a prime candidate to rise in the ranks of the ministry. Though he worked hard to keep his name away from his fathers and achieve everything he had on his own, he was never sure if his work was viewed simply because he was his father's son, or because he was genuinely good at what he did. This was a constant source of worry for Carter as he genuinely did not know whether his work was actually any good or if they were simply giving him the benefit of the doubt. For this reason at the age of twenty-seven, Carter eventually put in for a transfer to New Zealand hoping that the distance would provide him with an adequate chance to make his own name. The decision to move to New Zealand had been a tough one. It wasn't something that Carter had taken lightly, in fact, he'd been thinking of moving to New Zealand for a number of years and it was eventually the thought of escaping his mother that had pushed him to finally make a decision. As hard as it was, leaving his family in Germany had been the best thing for him as it meant that he was able to operate on his own without his mother constantly on his back about various unnecessary things. However, it also meant that Ursula was checking up on him every day or so. Carter didn't mind so much as he was happy to talk to her, he was just tired of her constant pestering him to get married. As it happened, moving to New Zealand proved to be quite an ideal position because soon the country was going through the slow and painful process of selecting a new Minister. Perhaps it was because he finally craved that extra mile or perhaps he had simply gone insane, but Carter eventually found himself in the running to become the leader of the very country he'd just moved into. With the advice of friends and close family under his belt, Carter quickly devised his platform and campaign around education and Scitorari reforms. Coming from Germany, he'd seen a lot more of the world then some people and he hoped he could use that knowledge to get ahead.
One evening whilst out, per his mothers request, to learn to ride a horse, Carter met the tiny and charming Kiera Potter. At first, they knew nothing about each other and simply clicked together like a lego set. At first, Carter was hesitant, lulled under the impression that she may have been a spy for his mother. However, that thought was soon erased when the rather more scandalous problem came to light. Kiera Potter was the sister of Cameron Kingsley, Carter's opposition. At first, the revelation both shocked and worried the pair, Carter, the first to recover, eventually decided that he didn't care and that he really liked Kiera. He asked her out on a date and she accepted. Though their first date was filled with hesitant questions and wondering if they should continue a relationship, they eventually decided that what they had, though in early stages, showed promising signs and continued to see each other in secret, very wary of what a scandal such as this could do to both Carter's and Cameron's campaigns. Unfortunately, the Ministerial debates managed to bring their relationship to light and to the attention of Cameron and his family. Though Carter was weary that he would have to face a multitude of opposition from Kiera's family, he was happy to discover that, though Cameron was not thrilled by the arrangement, he also had no control over his sister's life. Carter continued to date Kiera openly, albeit privately and the pair developed a relationship based on trust, honesty, and acceptance. Carter's own parents are happy and approve of the relationship despite the existence of children to a previous marriage because of Kiera's ties to British celebrity and New Zealand Ministry. Overall, they all agree that she would make a wonderful addition to the family.
In January of the year 2039, whilst out for a stroll along Obsidian Harbour, Carter proposed marriage to Kiera which was promptly accepted. Their relationship was good and though Carter often went for days without seeing his future wife, he knew that she loved him and looked forward to the times when he could be with her. However in late August, unbeknownst to Carter, Kiera began to seriously doubt their wedding plans. She felt that she should not marry him because of her fear of not being able to have any more children. In early September she tried to break it off, though Carter, through sheer stubbornness, managed to calm Kiera and convince her that children were never part of the deal, he could live without children of his own, because her three children were already enough for him. After a long discussion that brought forward many things from both sides, the pair eloped in a small ceremony with just themselves, a priest and Carter's best friend Dalton as the witness, in an undisclosed location.
In early September of 2042, just shy of their third anniversary, things started to change for the happy couple. Kiera discovered that she was pregnant and quickly shared the news with Carter, who became excited and quickly allowed himself too much freedom in his own future thought. He started to envision a life as a father and though he never treated Lyra, Link, and Jemma as anything other than his own children, he soon realised that the promise of fatherhood from the beginning was a seductive and overly tempting position. However, Carter's joy was short-lived as Kiera soon informed him that the test had been wrong. Carter had allowed himself to become overly attached in such a short time and the news hit him very hard. Kiera's stubbornness and insistence that he admit his desire for a baby, pushed Carter a little too far and after a very heated argument, Kiera finally suggested Carter leave. Though a man very much in love with his wife, Carter was in too much pain to think correctly and painfully walked out on his marriage. Though he knows they are both suffering, Carter believes that Kiera is better off without him in her life now that he has discovered a void he doesn't know how to fill.
