Diana was... bored. Her seventh year wasn't the most thrilling so far. She had been trying to pick up good gossip, but it seemed like nothing interesting was happening. She barely had any homework, at least none that she cared about, and didn't feel like studying for the NEWTs just yet. Diana was flipping through a magazine, sighing as she occasionally glanced around in the student lounge. If only she could see someone interesting to talk to, or overhear some juicy gossip. That would make the afternoon a lot better.

Aonghas walked into the student lounge, and noted a girl, an older girl sat at the place he usually sat at. He frowned but there was space for him there. "Dae ye mind if ah sit here?" he asked, motioning to the empty spaces next to where she was.

Diana looked up from her musing when she heard a voice next to her. She sighed deeply at his question, the accent making it difficult to understand for a moment. She recognized the boy vaguely, but didn't know much about him. "If you must." She said carelessly.

Aonghas shrugged at her response and took his seat. He had brought a book with him, not a school book but a book on Magical history. It was his father's old copy written in gaelic and very out of date. He opened the book from where he'd last been reading and started reading again.

Diana first tried to make a point of not paying any attention to the boy, but then she glanced at his book and frowned a bit. "What is that?" She asked, leaning over to get a better look. "Don't tell me that's for homework."

Aonghas looked at the book and shook his head, "It's a history book," he told her, "It's no homework, just like family history," Aonghas had been given the book over the break from his father, who despite Aonghas' protests seemed to think it was important he know all the history of the family.

Diana wrinkled her nose. "Your family history?" She asked, trying to read it but unable to. She frowned. "Is your family important, or something?" She asked him, figuring he must be from one of the big pureblood families. Diana had a healthy disregard for the 'importance' of those families, but she knew members of those families often thought they were. She supposed dating Cole meant she had to at least know a bit about it all.

Aonghas gave a little shrug, it was debatable to how important his family was and he knew his family felt more important than it was. "Nah, just old," he replied. It seemed like the more obvious answer, it was an old family and that was just not debatable and from that this girl could decide whether it was important or not.

Diana snorted at the boy's words. "Some think those are the same thing." She said with a shrug. "And you apparently think it's somewhat important if you're reading it in your free time." She added, gesturing to the book. "What's the point?"
