Set over Holiday Weekend November, 2039, Hollywood, California, USA
Kimmara Axel Breathed in deeply the cold night air as she stood outside of her own party. She was waiting for her father to walk her in and present her as an adult model - finally old enough to have her contract rewritten, to do more risque modeling jobs, to work harder. Her parents thought she was silly for wanting to be a writing - when she'd said she wanted to be a journalist in the magic world they simply told her that writing positions were for girls not pretty enough to Model. The blonde gave her coat to the woman standing outside of the door, whom was greeting guests. Everyone was waiting for her to walk in, and go up to that microphone and talk about how happy she is to join the world as an adult super model. Eighteen in the Americas was so important after all. Kimmara didn't think it was such a big deal, in the wizarding world she'd be allowed to apparate had she passed, and she was allowed to love who she wanted such as Killua - a man who'd never love her back. She'd discovered that the hard way. The petite adult turned her eyes toward the ground, an arm around her shoulder telling her she had no time to grieve for her mistakes, or even talk about them. On her left was her father, her mother on her right - neither of them speaking. Silas was already inside, she knew, he was waiting by the microphone to encourage her to speak.
The doors in front of Kimmara opened, and with perfect cadence in time to everyone singing Happy Birthday, she walked in. Wondering to herself as she plastered her face with a pearly smile, she thought of a normal birthday. Like the day she'd spent with Abel. Just a small party with friends and little gifts. It was something she'd always wanted - but could never have. Finally up the stairs and onto the dance floor that was raised away from the refreshments where people had been mingling, Kimmara was walked to a microphone. A woman beside her smiled and hugged her, saying happy birthday, and allowed her a speech. "Th-thank you a-a... all." She spoke slowly, stuttering through her chapped lips, her chest quivering slightly. In her gown she felt chilled - couldn't she just leave? They wouldn't notice. "It... me-means so much t-to me." Then there were applause. Silas escorted her offstage, she would be allowed to open her gifts later, and for now she was free to mingle. Kimmy, however, chose an easier route. Winding through the back of the building she made her way to the far side of the building where less people were. She grabbed a water from a waiter walking around, and took a few slow breaths. "C-can't I just stay little?" She asked herself, looking at her own reflection in the water glass.
