Ksaafa was happy with this arrangement. He seated himself on the bike seat, indicated for Mark to stand on the pegs on the back of his bike, and once he was on, started pedalling along the gravel road. It took only a few minutes as Ksaafa pedalled hard and fast, enjoying the feeling of the air rushing over his face.
They didn't need to go all the way to the Lowart house, just to where Ksaafa and Cale had their treehut. Stopping the bike and leaning it against another tree, Ksaafa jumped to grab a hold of the lowest branch of the big tree in which they'd built their hut. It had started as a platform between some of the central branches, but over the years had spread. There used to be small blocks of wood nailed into the side of the tree to help them climb, but as they'd gotten older and more capable of climbing without help, they'd removed these steps so it was harder for pesky younger siblings to follow them up. "You can come up if you want," he said to Mark.
When he reached the highest platform, Ksaafa grabbed one of the two wands that were hidden under a removable panel. It didn't really matter which he took; all his siblings' wands were the same: 8 1/2" Totara wands with weka feather cores. They were just wands that their mum had made them - Ksaafa was unaware of the concept of the wand choosing the wizard. When he had it he held it up for Mark to see and cast a weak bluebell flames charm. Jumping down from limb to limb, they were soon back on the ground and Ksaafa suggested Mark ride the bike while he stood on the back.
