Between Us

[Leo Benivieni]

Leo glanced excitedly in the mirror, making sure he was all set and he looked good before going down the stairs two at a time and looking around the common room to make sure his friend wasn't already waiting for him. He figured he'd wait a little but seeing what the time was made him think twice about whether she was really here or not. She was probably already at the dance. Leo headed out of the common room and soon, he was in the great hall with many other students, some dancing and some mingling around. Shrugging, the Gryffindor went over to the food table and poured himself some pumpkin juice. He scanned the area but he couldn't find her. The longer he waited, the more he became nervous. It was unnatural for him, it was new and he did not know what to make of it. Leo would never be nervous about something so small as a school dance, but for some reason dancing with Elizabeth seemed to make him restless, so he put his hands in his pockets once he was done with the juice and took a deep breath. After all, what was the worst that could happen? Besides, they were good friends so there wasn't any reason to feel like this all of a sudden. The more he thought about that, the easier it became to relax. Maybe he'd actually have fun dancing, even though he had no idea how to. He just hoped he'd spot her soon if she was here.​

Elizabeth was excited for this another fun Yule Ball. The fact everyone was dressed up and something didn't cared her that much. Her mother had send her a dress and she didn't had anything else to wear so decided to wear that colour thingy dress her mother had send her. She was asked by her friend Leo to join him on this Ball and Leo was fun so Elizabeth couldn't understand why not. She didn't went with a boy for the date thingy but just to have fun with someone she liked. And Leo was becoming a good friend of her. Perhaps they could do something exciting too this evening. She had a feeling Leo was already in the Great Hall because boys didn't need as much time to dress up like girls. And Evelyn wanted to do something at her hair and make-up and that was kinda nice of the blonde girl.

When the brunette entered the Great Hall that was decorated very beautiful she scanned the room for Leo. She was wondering how he would look in a suit or that he even had a suit. It didn't seemed something for him but yet again a dress wasn't something what Elizabeth was often wearing too. But than the Lion walked a bit more into the crowd and ofcourse there she could find him with the food table. The brunette saw a opportunity to scare the boy. So she sneaked up on him and hold her hands over his eyes. '' Mister Benivieni, don't eat too much, otherwise we can't dance for long.'' the brunette said with a smile. Ofcourse he would know she was it, but perhaps he didnt'?

Leo was becoming restless, but it wasn't long that he had to wait as when he felt someone put their hands in front of his eyes, he grinned as he took Elizabeth's hands off of his face and turned around, still smiling. "Hey! You look beautiful, Liz," he said, his tone sincere as he meant it. He wasn't used to seeing her wear a dress but then again neither was he used to wearing a suit either. It was probably strange for his friend to see him in a suit. When he realised he was kind of staring at her, he felt his face turn a little red and he flushed, clearing his throat. "So I'm guessing you want to dance?" His eyes held a gleam and he offered his hand for her to take. The Gryffindor tried to ignore the growing nervousness he was feeling.​

Elizabeth smiled at Leo as he complimented her. She wasn't used by that because she didn't bother to dress nice up but this was not bad. '' Thanks Leo, you seem different in a suit. But it suits you, do you get it?'' she said with a smile meaning the sentence as a joke thingy. The brunette looked around an hoped that her brother would be here too. It would be too bad if he was stuck inside of the room and wouldn't bother to come down. The lion wanted to look after her brother better than she had, she was so busy with her own adventures and friends that she just missed the fact that her brother wasn't completly at home at Hogwarts. '' Yeah ofcourse!!'' The brunette took Leo his hand and dragged him along to the dancefloor. She wasn't the best dancer but liked to make fun on good music.

Leo playfully rolled his eyes at Elizabeth's lame pun, but it was cute. He laughed anyway, thanking her. He began to have a slight doubt about whether his friend was looking for someone specifically, maybe some other guy, because Liz seemed to be a little distracted as she glanced around the room. Maybe she was avoiding someone? He let her drag him to the dance floor where they both started dancing to the music. "Hey, this is some great music!" After a song or two, the mood seemed to have changed as the music slowed down. "Uh," he pursed his lips before continuing. "Want to carry on dancing, or...?" He wasn't sure whether she was into slow dancing or anything but the fourth year knew he couldn't dance himself. He kind of wanted her to say yes, but then again the Gryffindor would feel bad if he forced her to do something she really did not feel like doing. Even talking was fine with him. Anything really. "Earlier, before we came on the dance floor were you looking for someone?" The question was unexpected even to him, but he couldn't stop himself from asking, he needed to know.​
