Odette had honestly sort of forgotten about this dance until Hayden had asked her, that wasn't like her but she had been distracted with other things. Margo's visit over the holidays kept popping up in her mind, though she did not know why. Then there was Quidditch, something that was eating up more and more of her time. Because of this, she hadn't prepared any other dresses, so she would have to wear the same one she wore to the Yule Ball. She honestly didn't mind, it was pretty and made her feel pretty. She just hoped it wasn't boring Hayden. She glanced at him. "So, let's skip the punch this time?" She asked with a small smirk. She wasn't proud of her moment during the Yule Ball, but Hayden didn't need to know that her own past actions bothered her. "Want to dance instead?" She hoped he would say yes, he had asked her to a dance after all. But boys could be weird about this sort of stuff. Honestly, she just wanted to be seen with him, though she felt really happy when she looked at him and remembered he was here with her. He picked her out of all the girls in the school.

After the Yule ball Hayden had been unsure about asking Odette to the Valentines dance. It wasn't about not wanting to spend time with her, more he didn't want to put her in a similar situation and risk a repeat of the drink incident. After getting a rose from the girl he decided it was worth the risk, hopefully no one would interrupt their evening together so they could dance in peace. Dressed in the same suit as the Yule ball, Hayden escorted Odette into the great hall which was all decked out for the dance with a sickening array of love hearts. Hayden chuckled as Odette suggested they skip the punch, he nodded and took her hand when she added a question about dancing instead. "Right this way," He said leading her towards the dance floor. "Its a shame we didn't get this far last time, but hopefully there are no distractions this time,"

Odette smiled at Hayden, glad he could appreciate her joke. They were both dressed the same way they had been during the Yule Ball, it really was like a do-over. Odette looked at him. "I'll make sure there are no distractions." She told him. "I'll just focus on you, no girls to ruin my day." She smiled, though she wasn't entirely sure what to do now. She hoped he would lead the dance, because she didn't know how to start it. Hesitantly, she placed one hand on his side. She looked around at what others were doing, but a lot of the older students were dancing really close together. Was Hayden expecting that? Did she want that? She wasn't sure.

Hayden was glad for the chance to have a Yule ball do over. He had been looking forward to dancing with Odette until everything went south. The fact they were both wearing the same outfits as the Yule ball made the whole thing feel even more like a do over. "No distractions, no one else, just me and you," Hayden smiled taking her hand and leading her to the dance floor. He watched as Odette placed her hand on his side, she didn't seem to know what she was doing, which was quite cute, so Hayden would need to take the lead. He took both her hands and placed them on his shoulders and he placed his hands on her waist. Hayden wasn't sure if it was what she wanted but it was how everyone was dancing, and he was sure Odette wouldn't hesitate to tell him if she didn't like it.

Hayden's words were so sweet and she almost wished they weren't affecting her so much. It felt weak to feel a boy's words make an impact on her, but she couldn't help it. She smiled shyly at him before moving back to her confident smirk, it felt more comfortable. Safe.

She had hoped for him to take the lead before, but now she had to fight herself not to snap at him when he started moving her hands. It wasn't that she liked where he was placing them, she just didn't like anyone telling her what to do, whether they used words for it or not. She took a deep breath to kill the impulse and then smiled again, seeing that they looked lot like the other couples around. She could look right into his eyes, and it made her heart flutter. Was this what it was like to like someone? She wasn't entirely sure if she liked the sensation, it wasn't something she could control which was quite annoying. "If I had known this is what I was missing last time, I wouldn't have thrown that drink nearly as quickly." She told him, trying to keep her tone light and airy to hide her weird feelings.

Hayden knew Odette reasonably well, he knew she wouldn't take kindly to being led, as he took her hands and put them into position he wondered if she was screaming inside her own head and fighting her urges to hit him. The fact she didn't, and successfully swallowed those urges was a good sign. He couldn't help but smile at Odette's words, "See, you missed out, but we can make up for lost time now," He smirked as they moved together in time to the slow music. "Isn't this much better when its just the two of us?" Hayden asked.

Odette couldn't help but notice that Hayden's smile was pretty nice. Great, just one more thing that was nice about him. It wasn't fair. She couldn't help smiling back, though. She moved along with him, enjoying the idea that girls n her year could see her like this. She barely resisted the urge to look around for any of the Gryffindors that irritated her constantly, hoping for envy on their faces. But she didn't want to look away or seem like she wasn't into this. Instead she nodded. "It is, but it wasn't my fault Margo got involved last time." She gave Hayden a sharp look, indicating which one of the two was more to blame for that part of the incident, though her tone was light.

Hayden raised his eyebrow at Odette words. Was she seriously suggesting that the events of the Yule ball were his fault? All he had done was compliment her friend, who she had brought into their bubble. The rest was all Odette. Hayden could have argued his case, but he didn't want Odette to cause a scene in the middle of the hall, and he didn't want another dance to be ruined. "It doesn't matter now its in the past, all that matters is you and I and that we are finally dancing at one of these things,"
