Alana was excited. Mizelea had offered the position of Quidditch Captain to her and she couldn't wait to get started with the new recruits. She looked around the pitch. The sky was blue, no clouds could be seen. She had indeed picked a fine day indeed. Autumn was always nice anyway, so she had no need to worry about the weather. Alana had enjoyed her time in the Quidditch team and she hoped that her new recruits would also enjoy it as well. It was one thing to fly around the grounds and play tricks. Playing on the team gave her more satisfaction, being part of a well oiled machine. It was something she had always enjoyed. She had to admitt though, she had bee alittle shocked when the position had been given to her, she had thought for sure that some-one else might have been netter suited, but Mizelea had seen potential in her and now the position was hers for the next two years. She hoped that she could rally a full team this year, like last year as she really wanted to get into the sky and play some matches with others. Last year had been very exciting and now, she felt that she was ready to help others discover the amazing feeling one could gain from being in the air, playing a good game of Quidditch. Atleast, if anything, her name would go down in the books as Quidditch Captain. That was something atleast.
As Alana looked around the pitch, she noticed that she was slightly earlier then she had needed to be, but that wasn't too much of a problem for her, she liked being early, she would be able to suss out the good players as they arrived. All the appropriate equipment was sitting to her left, she had made sure to grab it on her way down. The students would be here soon, as she looked up she could see a few people making there way to her. She allowed a smile to cross her face as she sat her broom to one side and went to pull out the box with the Quaffle and bludgers in it. As soon as everyone was ready, she was going to let them out. She did not wish to delay. This was a big day for her. She had never been the leader of anyone before. Considering she was an only child and all. After she was prepared, she grabbed her broom and turned to address the students. "Hey guys, Great to see you. Just state your name and the position you are trying out for and we will get started!" Alana called to them as she positioned a bat between her fingers.
Out of Character:
Hey Everyone! So basically, you as the player should first introduce yourself to me. Do include your desired position and year. After that proceed with the try-outs. Chasers, grab the quaffle and do your thing, score if you want too. Beaters grab a bat and start hitting those bloody bludgers and protect the team as well. Seekers, try catching the golden snitch. Lastly, Keepers guard the hoops and don't let anyone shoot some quaffles in there. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions. I'll also post afterwards your post if needed. The team will be posted later on. Enjoy!
Meera had not been very active with Qudditch last year but this year she had decided to make up for it. She had been sitting in the common room reading a book on Defensive spells when she noticed a Sixth Year girl put up the notice on the notice board. Meera quickly walked up to see if the notice was about what she was hoping it was, Qudditch tryouts. If it was possible, Meera would have wanted to play all the position at once but seeing how that would be a problem she had decided to tryout as a Chaser. A seeker would have suited her too but there was not much action in that so she preferred to stick with trying out for chaser position. The day of the tryouts finally came and Meera woke up early due to her excitement. She looked outside the window of her room and noticed the clear blue sky. It was perfect for flying. She had been planning to wear her old Qudditch robes to the field but she decided against it. Every year it was a new team and trying to show that she had once played for the team would certainly be frowned at. As she was already attracting a lot of attention these days she decided she did not want to give anyone more reasons and decided to wearkhakee-grey pants, strapless top, a coat and brown boots. Fashion was never suppose to be laid down no matter what the occasion. She pulled her hair up in a messy bun because leaving it down would certainly obstruct her from flying.
She was the second person to arrive on the Qudditch pitch and this surprised her a little. She wondered if her early arrival was due to her over excitement or due to others simply not caring so much about the whole deal. It was true that schools like Hogwarts had big tournaments with all the houses but Beauxbatons Qudditch was great too, at least according to Meera. She spotted the blonde girl once and recognized her as a sixth year. Meera had very good memory and she had a good guess that this girl was the one who would be their Captain this year and also the one who had put up the notice. "Hi Miss Torelli" she said in her fluent sweet French. She kissed the girl on both cheeks as per the common way of French greeting. She held her purple streak broomstick in her right hand which she was dying to mount. "I'm Meera Gupta, fifth year" she said introducing herself. Miss Torelli might know her or would have heard of her but she needed to stick to her manners and introductions were important part of that."I would like to try out for Chaser" she told the Qudditch captain.
After a few more students arrived they were given instructions and the try outs began.Meera had been practicing during the holidays with her mentor Arjun and her new friend and the cook for their house, Tara Sitara. She mounted her Purple Streak and kicked off hard from the ground, rising steadily into the air. Cool wind blew into her face as she raced taking a quick lap of the pitch to warm up. Once Miss Torelli blew the whistle and the Quaffle was released, Meera quickly intercepted it. Grabbing it firmly under her left arm she flew, leaning forward to gain speed, towards the hoops keeping her eye out for other Chasers and marking the position of the Keeper. The beaters who were trying out seemed to have spotted her and since they were not playing for any team both of them sent two bludgers towards her. She doged the first one by inches but the second one hit her on her left arm and in that mini second she lost the Quaffle. Pain surged through her left arm and she ignored it. Years of training in archery, hand to hand combat and sword fighting had certainly made this beautiful princess very capable of tolerating pain. Her eyes came back into focus trying to locate the big red ball. She spotted another Chaser in position of it and he had taken his shot and aimed at the hoops. Meera watched with envy in her eyes as the Quaffle made it through the hoops. She had brought it so close and had missed her chance. She wondered if the beaters had something against her. Leaving all the thoughts for later, she quickly flew ahead and intercepted the Quaffle once again as the Keeper was passing it to one of his Chaser friend.
She decided to prove herself. This time she was going to fly to the other side of the pitch and take a shot at those hoops. Tucking the Quaffle safely under her left arm, which was still in pain but was proving that it was used to harsh treatment as it had seen worse before, she flew fast and in a zig zag pattern to avoid the other Chasers and beaters. She saw another beater take aim at her and leaned forward to accelerate her broom. This time one of the beaters thought to protect her and removed the bludger from her path. Flashing a full smile at him, she raced forward, eyes locked with the keeper who was protecting this side of the hoops. She approached the scoring area and without stopping took her aim at the farthest and tallest, middle hoop. Some might have thought that she wouldn't have the strength to take the Quaffle into that hoop but she was capable of more than what her pretty face showed. The keeper moved to block the Quaffle but she was too slow and it flew past her and into the hoop. "yes!" Meera said punching her left fist into the air. As the pain that had temporarily been forgotten came back to life, Meera groaned and put her arm back to its position where it hurt less.
The try-outs continued and Meera had managed to take seven more aims and score three more goals. Her left arm was still paining but flying through the cold air had numbed it for now. The beaters had decided to have a more civil approach and one was doing defensive and the other offensive. When Miss Torelli blew the whistle again after one and half hour, their team descended back to the ground and Meera unmounted her broom. It had gone better than she had expected. She had refrained from socializing before but since the beginning of her fifth year Meera was taking a different and new approach to things. Instead of always being lonely and on the guard she was making new friends who she considered were loyal and truthful to her. She had enjoyed the try outs so much and knew that the matches would be many more times as fun and she would even make new friends in the team. "Thank you Miss Torelli" she said to the Captain before leaving the pitch with her broom in her right hand. She was not a fan of visiting the hospital section but it was necessary. Her left arm was swollen and undressing would be difficult not to mention she would be looking hideous.
