Beauxbatons Quidditch Practice

Fulke seemed to be the bludger target today, which gave Theodore some relief. It was the second time the captain had been hit, but it was also the second time Theo hadn't, so he was pretty happy about it. Turning his attention away from the bludgers, the young seeker focused on the one ball in the game that mattered to him. It had been relatively elusive since Elvira had caught it, but he wanted his chance to prove himself too, so he put in the extra effort to try and keep up with the distant glimmer of gold. That nudge seemed to work, as before he knew it he was flying alongside the snitch, and wasted no time in snagging it from the air. "I got it!" Theo proudly called, holding it above his head before releasing it again. Maybe they'd get a chance to catch it a third time that practice.

(I totally did not realise I'd been hit already, my bad. I think I got too excited by Daphnes instant snitch catch  )

A lot was happening at once. Yet another bludger made contact with Brendan and he had to grit his teeth to stop from yelling out and dropping the quaffle. This was fine. Two bludgers hurt, but he had to push through it and be grateful it wasn't any of the smaller players who were being targeted. Next came Theodores snitch catch, which came as a surprise. The competition was healthy, and the captain could only assume Elviras lightning fast reflexes at the start of the match had been enough motivation for the younger seeker to do well.

Despite the aching in his body from two bludger hits, Brendan continued his course to the hoops. Raising the quaffle above his head, the boy tossed it into the hoop, wincing as the movement sent a sharp pain through his arm. However, he was genuinely surprised to see that he'd managed to make the score - the quaffle sailing through to the other side.

Elvira grimaced in sympathy when Brendan was hit for the second time, she knew it hurt, but he didn't really let it show. He didn't even drop the quaffle. But before she could say anything to him or Maia, she heard Theodore's voice. The girl let out a small groan when she saw him holding the snitch, though quickly conjured a bright smile on her face as she gave him a thumbs up. It was a good thing that he was talented, but she still felt a little uneasy. Now they were even again, and she wanted to be better than him.

Maia was happy that Brendan didn't seem too angry with her as she had not intended to hit him twice. She cheered a little when Theodore managed to catch the Snitch as well but then focused on what she needed to be doing again. She hadn't seen or heard something from the other two Beaters so could only hope that they were doing better than her.

Grace was determined to do even better than last time, despite her limited experience. She was an alternate and felt as though she could learn a lot from the other beaters, however that would only work if she could find some bludgers to hit. She admired the girl captain and seeker who managed to catch the snitch that quickly. This would definitely help the team. She grinned when Theodore caught the snitch as well, having both seekers lucky or simply good at searching the golden ball was a very good sign for Beauxbatons, that was for sure. And shortly after that, Brendan scored. This practice had started really well. Grace made a split second decision and flew close to the alternate seeker, going on to the defensive side as well. So far, no bludgers.

As Celine watched Brendan on his lap, the flinching squint of her eyes was the only reaction she allowed herself to make at his being hit by a bludger. They were hardly very far into their practice and already he had taken two blows – it was rough. Nevertheless, Brendan still managed to score against her. Celine was impressed. If he was that good after just being hit by a bludger, she felt better about all the other times she had also failed to block his shots. She wondered how the other chasers felt about the co-captain's latest display as she threw the Quaffle back out to them. Inspired, and not intimidated, she hoped.

Nadine was amazed to see Brendan managed to score after being hit with two bludgers. She hoped to one day be as good as him, but that day wasn't here yet. She had to keep practicing! With that in mind, she flew forward to grab the Quaffle from Celine and started on her lap before her second attempt to score.

Theodore wanted a second catch in the space of the practice, but already the snitch had whizzed far from him. The boy scoured the skies for the telltale glint, to no avail, but was soon joined by Grace, which he appreciated. The more defense he had against any incoming bludgers, the better.

Fulke flew back from the hoops after he'd made his score, both wanting to give the other players their turn at scoring, and to give himself some time to recover from his contact with the bludgers. The redhead gingerly felt his tender skin, wincing at the shivers of pain it sent through him. Yep, that would need a quick trip to the nurse. He'd be alright, if he could avoid another hit.

Elvira was fired up now, eager to make another catch after Theodore had done so. She really wanted to prove that she was the better seeker. It was silly to get so competitive with an alternate when she was the co-captain of the team, but she couldn't help it. She really wanted to do well.

After finishing her lap of the pitch, Nadine flew in front of the hoops and attempted to score once more, aiming for the left hoop. To her frustration, Celine seemed to have read her mind once more. She blocked the attempt effortlessly, making Nadine huff in annoyance as she flew off.

She had trouble catching up to one of the bludgers and cursed under her breath. Either the iron balls were enchanted to be faster than normal or she was doing worse than ever. Leaning forward on her broomstick, Maia continued to follow the bludger around the pitch.

Elvira looked at her watch and signaled to Brendan that the practice time was over. At his nod, she turned to the rest of the team and signaled to them too. "We're done! Good job everyone! We're definitely going to kick Hogwarts behind soon!"
