Beauxbatons Quidditch Practice

Elvira had been keeping an eye on Liesl as she wanted to learn from her, so she had seen the bludger nearly collide with the girl. Her hand flew to her mouth as the older girl fell off her broom, but she thankfully seemed okay. One of their captains flew over to her to make sure she was okay, so Elvira turned to keep an eye out for the snitch. She made sure to keep an eye on the bludgers as well.

As Grace came up to his side, Brendan prepared to make a pass toward her, but the girl soon disappeared before he could do so. Slowing his broom down, he looked around briefly, seeing her speed off toward the seeker. Shrugging, Fulke continued on his way to the hoops, keeping an eye out for another chaser.

Most people thought Beater was probably one of the easiest positions on the team because all they had to do was focus on hitting balls and they had nothing to do with scoring, but in her opinion the position was just as tough to maintain as any other. She had to keep her eye on not just the bludgers, but the players as well. She had to make sure none of the players got hit by a stray bludger and beat the ball there to try and swing it away while also trying not to interfere with the gameplay in the process. It was a lot to multitask, and being co-captain added more responsibility to her shoulders. She'd seen when Leisl got hit with the bludger and zoomed over to make sure she was okay as the girl had fallen off her broom. "Are you okay?" she asked, nodding her head when Grace told the girl to keep an eye out for other balls in the sky than just the snitch. But she knew it was roughly her fault as well for not having been there to protect the girl from getting hit. "Be careful," Jess warned, before taking off higher in the sky to watch over the game with more concentration. She couldn't let something like that happen again under her watch. Especially not to the Seekers because they were targeted the most by the opposing Beaters. She could practice her aim at other players but her defense needed to be strong for the Seekers.

Peter had been chasing one of the bludgers up the pitch, electing not to hit it anywhere just yet in case one of his teammates flew into it out of nowhere again. This way at least he could keep an eye on it and hopefully intervene if it went anywhere near the other players on its own. Unfortunately, up ahead of him on the pitch he saw the other bludger do exactly that, and there was no way he was going to get to their seeker in time to protect her. Clenching his jaw a little in frustration at what had just happened, Peter watched both of the captains head down towards Liesl. He would be more help remaining in the air to keep an eye on the rest of the team.

Jess was annoyed with her lack of progress in the game, especially for several of the players already having been hit by random bludgers that she hadn't been able to get to in time. She decided her best tactic would be keep fly close to the players in case another one came their way and followed after the chaser with the ball, keeping her eyes out for bludgers. If she failed to hit one the least she could do was take a hit for them, as much as she hated the thought of it.

Not noticing anyone flying nearby by the time he approached the hoops, Fulke entered the scoring zone and attempted to throw the quaffle through the leftmost hoop, though a stray bludger flew right by his head at the same moment, the surprise of it throwing him off balance and sending the quaffle in a wide arc around the post. The boy swore under his breath and turned his broom around, hovering nearby to see who would get the quaffle once it was thrown back in to play. What were with these bludgers today?

Grace flew back to Brendan but she was too late to get the quaffle from him, or to do anything but wince as a bludger nearly hit him. She was starting to wonder if they were extra aggressive today, which was worrying. "You okay?" She asked him as she took the quaffle that was thrown back into play. It was the second time she had to ask a player that question, and she hoped she wouldn't have any injuries to worry about after this practice. "Take a break if you need." She added with a small sigh. She looked around for any of the other chasers as she started to make her way to the other hoops, as she didn't want to repeat her selfish actions from the start of the practice.

It seemed like the bludgers were kind of out of control today. Elvira hoped she wouldn't have any accidents with them as she was starting to become a little scared of them. Not that she would admit it. She hoped she looked confident as she flew and looked around for the snitch.

With the throbbing in her thigh still to focus on, Celine barely noticed as the chasers sped away to the other end of the pitch. There wasn't much she could do about it though, except to grimace and try to contain the pain through force of will only. She watched as first the older seeker was almost hit by a bludger, and then one of the chasers at the other end - causing him to miss the goal. Celine felt a little disheartened for the guy, but at least he hadn't been hit by the bludger. Those things hurt - which she now knew for herself. Watching, she saw Grace turn and head back towards her, so Celine rose a little higher in the air in order to adequately cover the hoops once again.

Jess's strategy to trail a chaser to protect them from bludgers was proving to be ineffective if she had held back once chaser's entered the scoring zone. She hadn't wanted to be too close to Brendan to disrupt his attempt to score, but a stray bludger had taken advantage of her hesitation and falling back to try and unseat him. Thankfully the fifth year had just been able to avoid it but it threw off his shot and missed completely. Jessica cursed in Korean and flew close to Fulke as she muttered a quick sorry, and chased after the bludger she'd missed.

When Brendan's shot went wide, he dived to catch the ball and threw it back into play. He didn't know what was going on with the bludgers but hoped that if they were going to be this vicious during the match against Hogwarts New Zealand, a bunch of the opposing team would get hit by stray ones instead of them.

Back near the middle of the pitch, Peter watched the chasers streak towards the hoops and took note of one of the bludgers heading in their direction. He saw Jessica was over in the area though, so decided to leave the situation up to her. It would be just his luck to hit one of his teammates again, and he was sure they already weren't that happy with his efforts during this practice. Unfortunately, the bludger continued on where Jessica did not, and another player was almost struck off their broom. It hadn't been such a problem in previous practices, but Peter decided it was time he began working on his defence, and headed off to meet Grace and the other chasers as they sped back up the pitch.

Grace didn't see any of the other chasers nearby, and she noted that they had to work on their teamwork. Brendan had been doing well, but sharing the quaffle was something that was hard even for Grace herself. And Emma was new, so they definitely had to get used to playing with her. She flew to the hoops where the alternate keeper was waiting and smiled at her before throwing the quaffle. Her smile widened when the quaffle soared through the hoop. She nodded at the girl. "Just keep working on it, practice makes perfect." She said. She headed the other way again, eager to let another chaser take the quaffle now and try again.

Once practice started Emma kicked off the ground and began to make her way around the pitch following the other chasers. She watched as her teammates made attempts to score, some succeeded to and some sailed past the hoops. Once she saw the quaffle free she dived for it and began to make her way towards the hoops to make her own attempt at goal.

Celine watched closely as Grace sped towards her, and though she tried valiantly to stop the Quaffle as the older girl threw it towards one of the hoops, her reaction time had been just a little bit too slow and it sailed past her reaching fingers to soar neatly through the furtherest hoop. Though slightly discouraged, Celine nodded at her captain's words - and really, had she been expecting to have a perfect save record for the entire practice? Most of the team's chasers were far more experienced than she was, and though that didn't make her useless, it did stop her from worrying that she was doing anything drastically wrong. She watched them all speed away again towards the other end of the pitch, thankful that her play hadn't felt too impaired by the residual pain leftover from being hit with the bludger.

Elvira grimaced in sympathy when Celine let the quaffle through. Still, her friend had been doing great this entire practice and she made sure to fly close so she could give her a thumbs up. Then she resumed to scan for the snitch, looking around eagerly without any result.

Practice had been going on for a while and Grace was startled when she looked at her watch to see just how long. It was time to end it, which was a shame as they had been playing well. She grimaced in apology to Emma, who had just gotten her hands on the quaffle, but then she blew her whistle. "We have to end it here, sorry!" She shouted, flying up so everyone could see her. Perhaps she should have waited for Emma to attempt to score, but in real life matches ended whenever a seeker managed to get the snitch. "Guys, you all did a great job today, let's keep this up for the rest of the year." She gave them all a wide smile, she was proud of the team. She flew over to Jessica to discuss next practice dates with her.
