This game the three of them had decided to play had started getting paranoic. Elbio didn't only have to worry about a possible secret alliance going on between Minoas and Sandalio but also for Minoas ten clones staring at him like hungry beasts. He really wanted to jinx Minoas right away when he tried to poison Sandalio's mind with false allegations.
"He's lying." Elbio barked, fearing that he was going to be left alone to fend for himself. Twelve against one wasn't really what he wanted.
"We never had an agreement. Don't believe him Sandalio. He's trying to trick us as if these illusions weren't enough." he tried to speak some sense and gestured at the clones waiting at the slopes. For some reason, Elbio really wanted to be the winner of this simulation game. The only time he was getting too passionate about something was only for the pictures he was taking. He knew he shouldn't underestimate Minoas when he was aware of his tendency of creating his own spells. The element of surprise was surely going to benefit the after-school cause the two of them had spent nights discussing but Elbio had to find now a way to turn the tables and corner Minoas again.

He was given no more time to debate a possible alliance with Sandalio in order for both of them to turn against Minoas. Everything happened too fast. Elbio show the blinding flash of light heading towards Sandalio and prepared to defend himself. He lost Minoas from his sight and then felt an acute pain on his knees and forcefully, be swept of his feet. He moaned as he landed hard on the ground and his wand flew away from him to drop down a few meters away. Then the cheers coming from Minoas' clones, descending the muddy slopes, froze his blood. Not really caring what the other two were doing, he crawled in the mud to grab his wand and stood up on his feet. He pointed his wand, literally stabbing it on the first clone who had reached his hands to grab him and shouted.
"Expulso!" There was an explosion that blasted away both Elbio and the clone but the second one instantly dissolved in black and white smoke while screaming in pain. Elbio rised, clenching his teeth to withstand the pain. His hands had inflicted minor burns but the sight of the horde surrounding him with threatening intentions, allowed no time for this.
"Incarcerous!" he yelled and ropes hurled out of his wand to constrict the next, closest clone. The body stumbled down as the ropes wrapped around it like greedy tentacles but it turned afterwards into smoke to escape among the tight ropes and into the air.
"They are insubstantial." he told Sandalio. "Help me take them out!" he demanded his help as he couldn't deal with all eight remaining.

Sandalio found himself caught in the middle of a bizarre turn of events. First, he watched horrified his simple stunning spell dematerializing Minoas. He was given not even a few seconds to grasp what was happening when he saw Minoas pointing his wand at him. Then Elbio joined them but their company was going to grow larger as ten more people appeared, surrounding the pit where the three of them were standing.
"You've got to be joking!" he said astounded when he realized that the figures surrounding them were identical to Minoas. Sandalio kept staring this jaw-dropping paradox while Minoas was explaining that this was the work of a new spell. Sandalio didn't even follow the negotiation between Minoas and Elbio. He had let his guard down while looking shocked at Minoas' clones. They looked so real as their pairs of grey eyes were prying from up there.

The flash of light that hit him straight on his chest was a too late wake up call. Sandalio ended up on the ground dizzy while the clones charged at them. His vision was blurred but more flashes followed as well as the deafening blast of an explosion. Another pulse of air created by the blast knocked him back like a rugged doll. He shook his head to cast away the blurriness and the buzzing in his ears. He could hear Elbio's voice distant but he could tell he was asking for help. He stood up and pointed his wand at the blurry figure coming his way. "Impedimenta!" He groaned as one of the clones knocked him down on the ground before Sandalio's spell caused him to burst into smoke. Back on his feet, Sandalio used both his wand and his free hand to generate three fireballs of an apple's size, orbiting around him.
He pointed his wandless hand towards the next three clones and the fireballs launched at them one by one, vanquishing them in clouds of dark smoke. Someone grabbed him in a choke hold and Sandalio tried to release himself from the tight arm.
"L-let...g-g-go 'f me." He croaked with watery eyes as the force applied by the person choke holding him was suffocating him.

One by one Minoas' clones were bursting into smoke as Elbio and Sandalio continued casting at them every single spell they had learnt at school. There was a grin of success on Elbio's face when he realized he was doing great defending himself against so many attackers. The whole point of this training was to get the baptism of fire in combat and Minoas' new spell was going to help them a lot. Elbio was proud for his best friend. They hadn't yet graduated from school but there he was with this awesome spell, creating clones of himself. However, Elbio wasn't going to be merciful to these illusions. One by one they vanished just before they were able to knock him off his feet and now he was shrouded by their smoke as they dissolved in the air. He tried to see where Sandalio was. For now he was his ally as they were both trying to deal with Minoas' clones. For now because this game was going to have only one winner. Waving his hand to cast away the thick smoke, he saw the other Gryffindor struggling as the only clone left was trying to choke him.
"Reducto!" he yelled and a blue flash of light hurled towards the clone who exploded into a spectacular cloud of mist. "Are you alright?" he helped Sandalio stand up. They had to take Minoas out. Then it was going to be easier for him to win over Sandalio. "What's now? Any more tricks or have you run out of ideas?" he mocked Minoas who was now alone without the cover of his clones. Just a twitch of Minoas' wand hand and Elbio was going to stun him right there before he was able to produce more of his illusions. It would be better for Minoas just to surrender. Having to stun him was going to take some time to make the counterspells work afterwards.

Minoas smirked and slowly receded as his astral projections charged. If he was going to master this spell, in the future he might was able to summon a whole army. There were still a lot of flaws he had to fix. They were an unpredictable bunch of individuals who couldn't be tamed. For now he could only watch them dissolve in clouds of smoke as his two friends were doing a great job of countering them. Things seemed to be getting out of control when one of his projections tried to struggle Sandalio and Minoas pointed his wand to counteract but in the end Elbio made it burst into a cloud of dust. He watched his two friend and now opponents regrouping and he took a step back but ready to use the next ace up in his sleeve. "You did a great job I must confess." he admitted as none of his projections were left to defend him except from a few lost somewhere in the forest. They were nowhere near to cause a diversion. "Well, I can't create more of them now that you point at me with your wands." he said while pointing his wand back at them. Creating more projections was exhausting at least after going through so much pain. Minoas had a couple more spells today to demonstrate, he was just waiting the right moment to use the element of surprise but maybe he had to cast one of them now that he was cornered. However, before he was able to think of it twice, something swooshed above him and pinned down on the earth between him and his opponents. His bewilderment turned into shock when he spotted the arrow on the ground still wobbling.

He turned around to see a herd of hostile looking centaurs appearing out of the thick vegetation at the slopes of the small crater the three of them were standing in. Centaurs were usually tolerant towards young humans but the three of them were no longer children. They were almost adults and they surely looked adults in the eyes of those centaurs. "We don't mean to trespass your lands." Minoas began saying, remaining calm and composed despite the danger he was facing. "We lost our way to the castle. We were on our way back." he explained, not sure if they had really wandered so far away from the grounds and into the centaurs' territory. The glares the three of them were receiving, were suggesting they were into their turf. "No excuses human." spat one of the centaurs, standing at the edge of the crater. "You have been found trespassing our territory, you are going to be punished the centaur way. Catch them!" he barked and the herd started charging down the muddy slopes of the crater. "Run! I'll slow them down!" Minoas told to the other two and waved his wand. "Ormovlasta!" he shouted and every single stone or cone pine resting on the ground raised in the air before him, charged with pure, white light. A chill went down his spine as the centaurs gushed like a river down the slope but he didn't flinch. He wand was pointing at the levitating charged objects in front of him. When the time was right, he flicked his wand and dozens of glowing stones and pine cones hurled towards the slope's feet and the first descending centaurs. Upon contact the charged projectiles exploded, blasting several centaurs backwards, falling on others following behind them. A landslide was caused by this chain of explosions. Mud drifted downhill the centaurs, crushed them and partially buried some of them. With a winning smirk, Minoas wasted no more time and ran for dear life as more arrows missed him for inches. He had to find Elbio and Sandalio. Suddenly, their little game of outlasting each other had turned into a life-threatening situation where they had to join forces.
