Nolan had been excited for the Yule Ball, though he hadn't really planned to go with anyone. The Irish boy had gone last year and had enjoyed his time. Nolan made his way into the event and had noticed that the decorations were different than last year. There was a warm vibe to it, reminding him of the weather back home in Auckland. He wouldn't admit it, but he did miss his family. The Irish boy had noticed that people around him had dressed up a little fancier than him, which had made him feel a bit odd. But he had liked his outfit choice, and he was comfortable.

He quickly made his way to the food table and had noticed the different choices that were there. There were sausages and this cake that looked like it was covered in cream, he had vaguely remembered his friends back home in Auckland mentioning that they had it for Christmas, though Nolan had never tried it before. He looked at the Christmas table with delight, deciding on what food to grab first, before making his way to the dance floor.

Eugene was so excited for this, he had loved the work from the halloween feast so of course, he'd been looking forward to the yuleball for a while. He hadn't dressed up much, mostly just wearing his school shirt and trousers without the tie. He hadn't yet managed to spring for all of a suit, he didn't know how other kids in the school had the money for one a year, but Eugene had learnt that he was one of maybe a few who didn't have a lot of money. He didn't mind though. He had a job to do anyway, he didn't have the time to be messing around in fancy clothes. He noticed immediately upon entering that the hall was different something that was far more familiar to him than the prior one. He wasn't sure if the hall always changed up, the pictures he'd seen of prior years didn't indicate but he thought it would be cool if they did. As he was taking a few pictures he noticed one of his best buddies and so immediately bounded over to him. "CUZ!" he greeted loudly and warmly. "How are you doing bro?"

Nolan turned around when he had a familiar voice. "Hey! What's up?" Nolan says with a small chuckle, as he sees one of his best mates. "Nothing really. Just arrived. How are the photos coming along? Are you enjoying it?" Nolan says with a smile. Nolan hadn't been into much photography, though he did think that it was an interesting form of art. Nolan looked around the Great Hall. "They've changed the place up a bit this year. Reminds me of Christmas back in Auckland"

Eugene grinned easily at his friend, "They're great! So many interesting things to take pictures of," he told him excitedly. He nodded in agreement and then gave a little laugh. "Yeah, they remind me of my old school's celebrations," He agreed before laughing lightly. He could never really remember the old christmas' with his mother, the memories too distant now. "Is Christmas for you a little more wintery, like last year's decorations?" he asked, knowing the Nolan was Irish in origin so perhaps had different traditions than this or the Auckland christmases he mentioned.
