At long last

Thomas had been sitting up in his common room getting ready for the Yule Ball. He was so excited about tonight, not only did it mean exams were over and holidays were beginning, but it meant a whole night, with no interuptions, with Autumn. He was glad that they had made all the arrangements necessary beforehand as they hadn't seen each other at all the previous week, due to exams. Thomas fixed his tie in the mirror, saying bye to Scorpius who was ready before him.

No sooner was he about to leave the room and make his way down to the Entrance Hall, where he had planned to met up with Autumn, when he heard a tap on his window. He opened it to see the same owl he had used to write to his mother days beforehand. He quickly took the letter from the bird and read it.

Dearest Thomas,

Sorry that it had taken me so long to reply but I was off visiting Mother and Father to sort out Christmas. You're letter, although for you it meant confussion and worry, has brought me great joy, and if your father was living today, he would share my joy.

Thomas I'm sorry for telling you this now, I'm sure you're heading out to the Yule Ball with Autumn, send my regards to her, but I'm sure you already have your suspesions. Thomas that boy you met, if you say he was the double of you is your twin brother. He was stolen from me and your father the night of your birth and we were never able to find him.

I am so happy that he is alive and well, please Thomas, you must contact him and meet with him, it has been 12 long years since I have seen my son and I wish to hold him in my arms again.

Now go, enjoy your night.

Thomas read the letter in bewilderment, he had a twin brother. He scrunched the letter up in a ball and through it across the room and made his way to meet up with Autumn. How could his mother keep this from him, for so long? He was so mad but he made himself calm down, tonight was not going to be ruined by this news.

After a few minutes he arrived at the top of the staircase to the Entrance Hall and at the door of the Great Hall he saw Autumn standing there, lovely as ever. He put on a sincere smile as his usual butterflies began to flutter in his stomach. He made his way down the staircase and put his arms around Autumn, kissing her softly on the cheek, "Hello beautiful. Hope I didn't keep you waiting."
