Bella sat in the waiting room squeezing her fingers until she thought the blood would stop running to them. She had arrived early of course, typically so and though Sakura had offered to come she had to turn her kind offer down. She was after all an auror in training now and needed to attend every day without fail. Bella was thrilled for her friend, she had been so upset at the loss of her alchemy career knowing that it had been all her own fault for asking Sakura to come to her aid. Now it would seem her bestfriend had a whole new world open up to her. It had only been a whim that she applied for the position at all and now she was going to be following in the footsteps of Harry Potter. They had laughed together at this, tempted as they were to write and tell James they both knew it was not the best course of action, especially not with the scandalous newspapers and his engagement to Kiera Kingsley.

She closed her eyes, part of her hoping that Izaac would not show up and the greater part of her wishing for him to be at her side already. She glanced up quickly as the door opened.

The work now at the hospital had become routine, she was enjoying every moment of it but it was always her time in the maternity part of the hospital that kept her sane. Corinne walked to the door of her office as she showed Marcie Elders and her husband out. They were a lovely young couple, both excited at the prospect of their new baby that they had just learned would be a boy. After saying farewell and reitering about Marcie's diet and her need to cut back on faddy foods, Corinne made her way to the waiting room. There should only be one more patient now. Opening the door she found her sitting there on her own and her heart fell.

It was no surprise that there was no man here with Isabella Ormonde, she had made it quite clear from her very first appointment that she was going to be a single mother. Still Corinne always held out hope that the father figure would show up.

"Good after Isabella. How are you today?" she glanced down at the stomach that was now beginning to round slightly and smiled, "If you'd like to follow me then".
Standing back Corinne held the door open for her.

The morning had not been an easy one for Izaak Finch. From the moment he had woken up grouchy, without Alexis and what must have been at least an hour before the sun had risen, his anxieties were quick to snatch a greedy hold of him. It was unclarified to him what the afternoon's appointment would entail but one thing was for sure, it would hit home hard that he was going to be a father. At first Izaak had been cursing Isabella or whoever it was that had set the appointment to place it in the latter of the day. And then he had been seriously contemplating not coming at all but at the last minute decided that he couldn't let Issy down, not now and not ever. He had already caused her enough pain.

With a hasty lungful of air drawn into his chest, Izaak brushed his fingers against the handle of the door and entered into the hospital, suprising himself by staying amazingly stable. The sound of a woman's voice, most likely a nurse's, washed welcoming tones over the silence of the waiting room but Izaak was not focused enough to hear the words that had actually been spoken. His azure eyes flicked frantically across the room, pungent of cleanliness, until they caught Isabella. Only then did he realise that the nurse's words were directed at his friend. He pressed the older woman a small smile as he advanced towards the blonde Veela. He stood before her, every nerve in his body quaking as his nervous blue gaze scanned down to her stomach and noticed that it had grown slightly since the last time the two had seen one another. With another smile, wider this time as he flicked his eyes up to the silvered grey of hers and held them there, Izaak reached a hand towards her to help her up out of the chair. "Hey, how are you?" His azure eyes glinted with genuine curiosity as the question was posed, willing her to take his helping hand. It was wishful thinking on his behalf but Izaak could only hope that she might kept it in hers as they walked from the waiting room or greet him with a hug because right now he needed one more then ever.

Bella smiled benignly at the woman who was her midwife. Her heart felt like shattering but she tried not to show it, he had promised he would be here but before her thoughts could take her any farther Izaak arrived. She could not help how her face lit up at the sight of him, could not help the shimmering almost diamond like way her grey eyes sparkled. Anyone looking at them would probably think they were a young couple, she indeed was evidently so in love with him. It radiated from her, her smile encompassing only him.

She did not think about how she would be in such close proximity to him as her hand reached up to take his and even with her slight bump still managed to gracefully rise from the chair.
"You came" her voice was breathless but happy "I'm... I'm fine now. Izaak this is Corinne Kolpeck she is my midwife. Corinne this is..." she looked helpless all of a sudden, confused as to how she should introduce him. He was not her boyfriend, not her partner nothing to do with her at all.
"This is my baby's father".

Corinne merely smiled at the young man, nodded her head and walked through the door, knowing he could hold it now for Bella. She found she pleasantly surprised that he had shown up but it had also been heartbreaking to watch the young mothers face as she had tried to reason what he was in her life.

"Follow me" she told them walking down the corridor to her office, this door she held open to allow them both to enter, "please take a seat, Isabella if you could go behind the curtain and I will do the necessary checks before we talk, ok?"

It was a fantastic relief to see the smile break out over his friend’s expression and was a certain contrast to the state he had last left her in. Izaak took it all in with quick, flickering movements of his azure eyes and a smile of his own adoration for Isabella resting comfortably on his lips. After everything they had been through every up and every single down, of which there had been many, over the past few months, in his eyes she was still that wonderfully intriguing girl that had dropped her ice-cream, that had jumped into the park fountain without a care in the world. And right now, it was beginning to show more than ever.

Izaak passed her a nod and a grin as she stood elegantly from the seat and marveled at his presence. "I promised you I would Is," He soothed her with a smile, knowing that if she could trust his promises then that was just another step towards the healing of their relationship, of their situation and themselves as individuals. Keeping her hand encased inside of his own as the introductions were made, Izaak could do nothing but ache in sympathy as Isabella struggled with his title, finally settling for something rather upfront. But Izaak embraced it with a small nod, for the rest of his life he would be the father of her child.

His fingers curled tighter around the warmth of her hand as the midwife asked them to follow her, his nerves beginning to make a rather triumphant comeback. Izaak’s eyes shot anxiously to the silver of Isabella’s as his knuckles turned a stark white from the grip he had on her. Perhaps he needed her more than she did him in this moment. But he followed nonetheless, hesitant at first before warming his stride, still keeping his friend’s hand in his own as he held the door open for her before walking through the open one by her side. Izaak did just as he was told and seated himself in the chair, with a squeeze of her hand, he allowed Isabella’s to slip from his. The nervous fear swimming in his azure blue eyes was undeniable as he stared up at her. In fact Izaak would not be surprised if he glanced in a mirror to find that his bronze skinned face was as chalky as a ghost’s.

Bella felt so much more relaxed now, if that was even possible. Her insides were ducking and diving at the mere sight of him, she could have sworn even the baby had made some movement but she wasn't entirely sure. Corinne had assured her that when the baby did move she would know. When they made their way into the office she felt first his hand squeezing her own and would normally have gulped at the pain but knew he was nervous, more so than she at that point. She was still walking on air that he had shown up at all.

Eventually his hand loosened on hers as she left him in the seat that Corinne had indicated and walked behind the curtain. She knew the drill at this point, so adjusted her clothing and sat up on the stretcher style bed so that her midwife could do some routine checks on the baby. She placed the funniest looking funnel to her stomach but it wasn't funny for long as Bella realized she could hear her babies heart beat.
"Izaak you have to come and hear this" she called to him, "It's ok, I am still respectable" she chuckled but the awe in her voice at what she was hearing was audible and she so wanted to share it with him.

Discomfort grew within Izaak as Isabella disappeared behind the curtain with her midwife. One Converse-clad foot was raised on the ball, absentmindedly bouncing his knee up and down as he tried to level his frantic mind. This was what he might have expected to experience in ten years time with Alexis being the one who carried his first child. The doubtful thoughts were beginning to reel fearfully within him. Izaak didn't know the first thing about being a father, what possible use could he be to Isabella and their unborn child? But the fact that they had been so unexpectedly thrown into the same boat together provided the nineteen year old with a mild amount of closure. He would do this, he would be there for his friend and try with all of his will power not to let her down.

Her voice broke through his thoughts, it's awestruck tone such a contrast to the ever increasing heaviness in his mind. A natural smile flitted faintly across his lips as Izaak rose hesitantly from the chair, exhaling a nervous chuckle as she reassured him of her decency. With uneven and unsure steps, he curiously advanced towards the curtain and drew a deep, preparatory breath into his lungs before slipping behind it. The first thing his attention was drawn to was the quick thuds that were being projected from some sort of hospital equipment that he could not for the life of him recognise. Puzzled, he faced Isabella with a confused frown and then darted his eyes to the instrument Corinne was holding against her swollen stomach. In that very moment, as Izaak realised exactly what the sound was, his jaw dropped and his whole world began to spin. "Is that...?" He began softly, flicking his gaze from Isabella to the midwife then back again as if prying for confirmation. "Oh, wow."

The rims of his soulful eyes were wider then they surely had ever been before as he gazed down in amazement at his friend. The prominence of azure swirled awestruck within them, speaking a thousand words Izaak knew that he could never physically bring himself to say. This was their baby, this sound of its living, beating heart. The reality of the situation blundered heavily into Izaak's chest and he was filled to the brim with all the anxiety and all the amazement in the world. Slowly he brought half of his body to sit by Isabella's side on the bed. Lost for words, Izaak lifted his head and graced Corinne with a warm, appreciative smile before staring back down at Isabella. His broad shoulders rose and fell with his heavy breaths, his stomach churned anxiously inside of him, his eyes still filled with awe but she on the other hand glowed with radiance.

Corinne loved seeing the faces of the parents when they heard the sound of their babies heartbeat for the first time. She stepped back slightly so that Izaak could move closer to Isabella before resuming her stance over her patient once more. She moved the doppler funnel around so the sound was better amplified, but once she found a strong sound she removed her wand and increased the volume herself so they could all hear it loud and clear. It was good and strong, the pregnancy was going really well.

She returned the smile that Izaac gave her before patting Bella's hand and then wiping her stomach as she moved the funnel. She had been to a muggle hospital once and had seen all the electronic gadgets they had there but here in the magical world they would not work, no matter how great they had been.
"If you would like to straighten yourself up there and join me at my desk when your done" she smiled cleaning the funnel and walking out to the other side of the curtain.

She could only smile at him when he came behind the curtain, was it wrong of her in that moment to wish so hard that on hearing the sound from their baby that he would want them instead. That he would choose her and their unborn child instead of Alexis, moody, childish, drunk who loved someone else as well as Izaak. Her eyes followed his as he came to sit beside her, instinctively she reached for his hand as she lay her head back on the pillow rest listening to the sounds of his breathing mingled with the beautiful sound of their babies heartbeat and she loved them both.

Each sound made her own heart skip with longing and joy. Her fingers laced with his as a smile came to her own features. He was in as much awe as she was and this too gave her hope. Corinne carefully cleaned her stomach and removing the funnel asked to meet them back at her desk before leaving them alone. With slow yet deliberate movements in case he would retract his hand Bella placed both their hands on her belly. Looking back up at him she could no more contain her beaming smile than she could stop the world turning.
"I love you" it slipped from her before she could stop it, the situation they had found themselves in. His closeness to her, hearing their baby had all added to the euphoria of the moment and she had lost herself. Now she waited for him to pull away, her eyes filled with agony as she waited for him to tear himself from her while her ears wished they could hear their babies heartbeat again instead of the words he would utter, words that would reiterate points she already knew, that he loved Alexis and not her.

She sat up carefully letting his hand drop from hers.
"I shouldn't have said that" she fixed her clothing trying desperately not to look at him, she had just ruined quite possibly one of the most amazing moments of her life so far.

The hand that Isabella intertwined with his own brought about an air of ease in Izaak. Her mere presence conquered his nerves bit by bit. So as her fingers linked between his own, Izaak grazed his thumb absentmindedly across the back of her hand and soon began to fall amongst the depth of his thoughts. Soon he was so engrossed in them that he had barely caught Corinne’s words as she left the two alone with each other and their ever growing child. But he was acutely aware of the movement of their hands to Issy’s stomach. Izaak allowed her to place them against the warmth of her skin and allowed his eyes to follow, still dazed and in awe of the moment that had just fallen over them. Admittedly a little frightened as well. He flexed his fingers, splaying them curiously against the swell in her abdomen before the words "I love you" spilt from her lips.

The azure brimmed overwhelmingly bright in his eyes as he glanced up at her, at loss for what he could return them with. They both knew the complications of their relationship and the differing of their perspectives to a fine detail. They both knew that Izaak did not love her in the way she might have hoped but that was a matter that went unsaid. Alexis was incredible, being without her was like being without water and with every inch of him did he love her. It was not to say that he didn’t love Isabella, because he did. Just differently. He sat silent and frozen before her, not realising just how long he had been mulling over his thoughts until she sat up and let his hand fall back onto the bed.

Izaak’s hand flew to his friend’s cheek whilst she frantically avoided his eyes, the size of his palm engulfed the length of her jaw as he turned her face towards his own. "I love you too Is," It went without being said that this love was platonic, but it was love wasn’t it? Izaak needed her to know that she was not just a girl he had decided to sleep with and go, no more strings attached. She meant more to him then that, a lot more. His lips brushed against her forehead in a reassuring and pride-filled kiss in the moment before he stood from the bed. Then he curled his hands securely around her waist and in one swift and fluid motion his more than capable arms had lifted her from the bed so that now she was standing before him. "I don’t think I’m gonna be able to do that for much longer," Izaak joked and casually bumped his frame against Isabella’s before jerking his head towards the curtain, suggesting that they head on out to Corinne’s desk.

Izaaks large hand touched her face, forcing her to look at him. Bella looked into his eyes and knew that was another mistake she would regret later. He was so perfect, possibly the most perfect person in the world for her. She had visualized it so often that they would be so happy together but he would never and could never imagine them that way. She knew his words were not as deep felt as her own, not as powerful as her love for him but with the words came his touch once more as his lips caressed her forehead. Inhaling him she thought she would faint from the close proximity. He was being too familiar with her again, after all her entreaties to not do this to her. But it was her own fault, she had let the gate open by allowing him to come here. Had welcomed him up the path by calling him to listen to their baby and placing his hand on her swollen belly. Had held the welcome mat for him by telling him she loved him. Foolish stupid woman, Bella chided herself as his hands came to her waist and lifted her down. Her own hands rested on his shoulders as he did so, her fingers curling into the folds of his clothing for purchase.

It took only a second to damage her heart more than it already had been as she tilted her head upwards and found her mouth mere inches from his. His words now were light, friendly so platonic in their application that any thought she may of had of kissing him, any power that he had over her was shattered and she tumbled head first back to reality and turned her gaze from his beautiful mouth to the curtain. Nodding her head she moved her hands from his shoulders and went out taking a seat by the desk and now keeping her gaze firmly averted from him.

"Everything then is fine. The baby is good?" she needed to get herself out of here soon and away from him before she broke down completely. This was crazy, utterly so. Sakura had not been able to brew a potion that could help her, love after all was something magic had no hand in. Bella would have to get over him on her own.

Izaak’s azure blue eyes widened minimally with alarm as his friend did not even press a smile at his words but instead turned and retreated to the desk Corinne had disappeared to. Though the nineteen year old kept himself on the ball and followed her out from the curtains, willing Isabella to turn, to laugh, to smile like she had before. It was his fault now, he had taken his affections too far just as she had warned him not to. Now she had crawled back into that protective shell and tried to shield herself from the heartbreak and the agony. It was hard to blame her, in fact he simply could not. But he also couldn’t help but feel himself begin grow irrationally irritated with her reclusive behaviour. It, like his constant habit of physical contact, was placing a strain on the chances of this ever working out for the pair of them.

A frown automatically pulled his expression downwards as Issy pressed the midwife with tone of urgency and from what Izaak could tell, an undeniable need to leave his presence. His eyes flicked across her face as they sat seated side by side, but she was refusing to meet his gaze and despite what effect hearing their child’s heart beat had washed over him, Izaak became uncomfortably frustrated. Giving up and exhaling a defeated sigh, Izaak faced Corinne in hopes that she might ask more questions and keep them there longer. It was all because of him and Izaak realised that but he just could not help himself.

Corinne looked up as they both appeared from around the curtain and took the seats she had indicated. Noticing a decided shift in how they now seemed to be towards one another, Corinne merely smiled remaining professional when the young couple in front of her were obviously going through something other than this pregnancy.

She closed the file in front of her as she smiled warmly at Isabella.
"The baby is just perfect, every thing is going really well. The due date is July 4th 2025 and lets hope the baby will come on time and not before... or after" couples were anxious enough on the first baby without little hiccups like premature babies or late labor adding to them.
"Now" she could not contain her delight at this part, "would you like to know whether your baby will be a boy or girl?"

She could not look at him, her heart could only take so much breakage and she had inflicted way too much on it. As Corinne told them how well the baby was doing and her estimated due date and then asked if they would like to know what gender the baby was, Bella felt a tide of exhaustion sweep through her.

"Can I get a drink of water?" it sounded so lame when she should have been jumping up and down for joy that her baby was in good health. Should be thrilled that in a moment she would know whether she carried a boy or a girl. She had given it no thought up till then, knowing that it mattered now to her either way. Her hand went to her temples and she rubbed them gently.

"Please" her face suddenly looked tired and pale but as exhausted as she felt she needed to keep going just a small bit longer. Then once she got to the Leaky she could rest for the evening. Not once did she turn to look at Izaak though, she could not would not tempt her soul so blatantly like that. It was unfair to all of them. She could not help being a Veel and having power over him as he could not help the hold he had over her for simply being. Somehow they would find a way out of this, to work through it but for now it all seemed utterly impossible.

Izaak gave an anxious nod of his head as Corinne asked the pair of them whether they’d like to know the sex of their unborn child. But the response that Isabella gave roused him to jerk his head in her direction and witness first hand the exhaustion that had ebbed her strength. It was painted all over her pained expression, dominant in the curve of her movements. She was beaten and so unenthused that it near offended Izaak. Did he really boast this much power over her? He huffed another sigh and squeezed the lids of his azure blue eyes shut, wanting nothing more in that moment then for Alexis to be here. Fast forward the clock several years of course, but he was wishing with all of his might that when he opened his eyes he’d see that head of strawberry blonde hair, and that radiant smile and she would be the one carrying his first child. And they’d be excited, beaming, glowing, the whole package as two people that were finally ready to embrace parenthood.

But he opened his eyes and he was still nineteen, Isabella was still by his side and there was still an awkward cloud of discomfort looming heavily over the three of them. Izaak sighed once more and pressed his gaze to his friend, she couldn’t just avoid his eyes forever. Not wanting to prolong this unease any longer, he stood from the chair and was quick to find a water cooler; muggle or not, hospitals always seemed to have them. In a matter of seconds he returned with a cup of water and set it down in front of Isabella before crouching beside her at the arm of her chair. “Is,” The abbreviation of her name, the one that he had seemed personally claim, slipped from his lips in the most soothing tone he could muster. Izaak canned his irritation and annoyance, he was not going to let the petty feelings stand in the way of making this work for the two of them. This needed to be resolved with communication and balance but it was not going to progress if she could not cooperate. “Come on.” Izaak urged her softly, pleadingly, encouraging her to lighten up and allow them to be graced with the excitement, and anxiety on his part, at the confirmation of a son or daughter. Which, in combination with the silent apology expressed through his azure eyes, Izaak hoped would soften her detachment.

Corinne had not yet done any routine checks on the mother yet preferring to leave those to the end when all the baby details had been taken care of but as she glanced at Isabella now she knew something was not quite right. Izaak went for some water immediately and Corinne was around her desk and taking her temperature and checking her blood pressure.
"Oh Isabella" she said quietly after the young man had returned and given her some water, she gently patted her hand.

"We are going to have to keep you in for a few days. To ensure you get plenty of rest. Have you been under any stress lately because your blood pressure is very high. We'll have to monitor it for a few days to make sure you are in no danger of getting toxemia."

She checked Isabella's wrists with swift but gentle movements and then did a quick check on her ankles.
"Your wrists are slightly swollen but your ankles don't seem too bad. Have you been getting headaches of late? Blurred vision? Feeling any way confused?"

As she was saying all this she began walking around to her desk again and picking up a quill wrote a note and folding up the parchment that now resembed a small bird she sent the memo away. There would be a bed ready in the maternity ward for Isabella in a matter of moments.

Bella closed her eyes as those about her began to fret, Izaak running to get her water while Corinne took her blood pressure and her temperature. Opening her eyes once more it was to see Izaak pushing her a glass of water. She tried to smile but at this point it felt like any movement was simply draining her. She drank the water carefully before looking at him.

"Thanks" she said instead not able to move her eyes from his now, what must he think of her? She was a basket case, was there anything in her life that she could just get right for once. She couldn't even seem to have a pregnancy without some hiccup occuring. She turned to look at her midwife who was talking now about keeping her in. Furthermore she could have some toxic thing. Bella paled more than necessary as she allowed her to check for swelling.

"I... I've been getting quite a few headaches
" the feelings of confusion she had put down to simply the pregnancy and her situation with Izaak, not once had she considered it to be serious, for the other questions she merely nodded her head.

"Is it serious? You said the baby was alright though? The baby is ok?"
she had to double check this, had to make sure she hadn't dreamed her saying that previously. Her hand instinctively went to take Izaak's in her own as fear gripped her. Her pale grey eyes sought his cerulean orbs and she found the strength she needed there.

Feeling particularly guilty now for the sour mood he had been riding himself into, Izaak’s azure eyes darted frantically across his friend’s weary features as the midwife made talk of keeping her in the hospital for a few days. Though he could do nothing but listen on in frightful concern as questions were asked and answered.

The urgency and fear in Isabella’s voice as she asked after the baby brought Izaak with an odd sense of confidence amongst his worry and concern for both her and their child. She was going to be a great mother, even if he wasn’t there as a father. In an instinctive motion their hands were connected and Izaak clasped his other over the back of hers, now hiding it’s petite size from view. With his eyes on a frantically continuous loop from Isabella to Corinne, Izaak posed his own worrisome question. “She’ll be fine, won’t she?” He asked the midwife with the greatest of concern for his friend radiating in the deep timbre of his voice.

lame.

[not lame at all ;) ]

Corinne smiled at them both to reassure them.
"This is just a precaution. Toxemia does tend to happen in a first time pregnancy but we are catching it early so have plenty of time to treat it. It's a good thing you keep your appointments Isabella" she moved forward again and touched her hand gently.

"The baby is fine, she's perfectly healthy there isn't anything to worry about as I've said we are catching this early. Now it's just the mother we must take care of. More times than not a first time pregnant mother is all concerned about the baby but forgets to take care of herself."

She stood up and went to the door.
"I'm going to make sure everything is prepared for you alright, have some time together and when I come back I'll take you to the maternity ward. Mr. Finch if you wouldn't mind perhaps returning home in a while and getting some of her things together. Toiletries, night clothes that sort of thing" Corinne left the room and hurried along the corridor to make sure everything was being sorted, not realizing she had let slip the gender of the baby earlier in her haste to reassure them that their child was fine. An alarm went off further down the corridor and she went to sort that out as well. The couple would be left alone longer than they had expected but that couldn't be helped for now.

Bella breathed the smallest sigh of relief, her heart felt like it would give up at any moment. It just all seemed too much, way too much. She kept her eyes firmly on Izaak even when Corinne began to speak to them about it being a precaution. That the baby was ok, that it was now just a case of taking care of her. In all that she said Isabella heard one word 'she' in reference to their baby. They were going to have a girl. When they were left alone her free hand went to her stomach and it was only then she tore her gaze from his to look downward.

"A baby girl" she smiled before looking up again at him "a baby girl. I am so sorry, you can leave. You must have a thousand things to be getting on with. I can send for Sakura or Yema and they'll bring my things."

She was trying to be gracious to him, not monopolize his time. The hand that held his gave it a gentle squeeze.
"We will manage somehow Izaak. I know we will. It's going to be hard but we will work this out" Bella was determined to do so, her insides may churn like whipped cream whenever she saw him, her heart and soul may yearn for him but she had every confidence that she could do this. Separate herself from him emotionally. She was having a baby girl, Bella knew she would have to be a perfect role model for her. Would have to be a strong independent woman for her daughters sake, there was no time like the present for starting.

In Izaak's state of mind the words that Corinne was speaking seemed to slip from her lips as if someone had pressed the fast forward button on a remote control. It was happening all so quickly, word of preparing rooms, of collecting Isabella's things that he had to keep reminding himself to breathe. But there was one, single word that slowed down for him, one that the midwife had seemingly overlooked. She. It was a girl, they were going to have a baby girl. It were as if a thousand emotions clambered down on his shoulder in that instant. There was disbelief and anxiety to the point where he felt as if he might black out or throw up. He was nineteen for Christ's sake and he was expecting a baby daughter? It was full tilt madness.

But as Isabella's soft grey eyes matched up against his own, Izaak caught a breath and worked his best to calm his nerves. There was awe all about her, in her voice, her gentle gestures, and in her eyes. She was practically glowing with it. It was contagious too and Izaak soon felt his rigid edges soften as his azure eyes began to gleam in reflection of her joy. But at the next words, Izaak faltered. It was true, he did have a thousand things to be getting on with. There was a full week of work ahead, and a party he had planned on going to tonight. There was babysitting Jay for his sister, god knows why she had been so sick lately and Valentine's Day was creeping up too. But right now, it was his obligation, his duty to make sure that his friend was well taken care of. It was also something he wanted to do. With a small shake of his head, and a muttered "It's ok," he dismissed her options.

Izaak was silenced again as her voice filled his hearing, reassuring him that everything would turn out fine. There were times when he was extremely doubtful but he did not let it show to either Isabella or Alexis. For almost a year Alexis had been his world, and she meant absolutely everything to him. She held his heart, solely and truly. But now his friendship with Isabella and their mounting responsibilities as a result of the pregnancy was shaking up his life. He could not simply abandon her and the baby, he loved them like they were already family. Izaak just needed to find a balance, a way in which things could function normally. "We will and I won't stop until we do. I promise." Izaak squeezed her hand back, and exhaled a gentle sigh. Still crouching down beside her, Izaak looked up with a winning smile. "I bet you've got a name picked out already, huh?" He teased with his tongue between his teeth, bumping their hands casually against the arm of the chair, knowing quite well that she probably wouldn't have.

Bella could only smile now, she felt completely drained and utterly exhausted. Almost certain that she would pass out shortly but holding his hand seemed to be giving her the strength to simply sit upright.
"I have no names... yet. I guess part of me was still incredulous about it all" she blushed at this, knowing that she had been in such deep denial as often as she possibly could about her condition but now she could no more do that than deny her feelings for Izaak but as her feelings for him must be contained she was glad that her feelings on discovering she now carried a girl could be displayed. She was ecstatic, deliriously so. Her free hand touched her stomach and she smiled.

"I will have lots of fun I'm sure thinking one up"
Bella looked at him then, "Would you like to give her, her middle name?" Her grey eyes searched his hoping he would not get angry that she wanted to include him in that part as well. She did not know what boundaries they should have regarding their daughter and themselves but she did know she wanted him to be as involved in her life as much as possible.

my turn for lame

Isabella informed him that she didn't have any names picked out as of yet and Izaak definitely could not blame her, especially not when she spoke the reason. A grin, composed mostly of the absurdity of their situation, subtly lit his strong features at the blush that scattered delicately across the honeyed complexion of her skin. It helped, if only a little, to know that he was not the only one who was still dazed by the fact that she was carrying his child, let alone that they were sitting here discussing names for their unborn daughter.

That fateful night that had occured those mere few months ago, albeit life-changing, was still lost hopelessly on Izaak. He remembered very clearly the wretched despair that had gripped him, as to an extent it still did whenever that Spanish-literate Slytherin crossed into his thoughts. A little more fuzzily could he recall talking with Isabella, and then her leading him up the stairs of the Leaky to her bedroom. There were undistiguishable flashes of lust and the heat of mouth versus mouth but trying to remember ever having slept with her was a hard-pressed task. Even harder knowing that Isabella would be able to perfectly recite whatever had happened that night.

Izaak was hauled from the shallows of his memory with a question that seemed to have rendered him speechless. "Me?" He questioned amazedly in search of clarification as his azure eyes pooled unsurely into the monochrome of Isabella's. He should not have been so shocked that she'd ask him if he wanted to give his daughter her middle name but he was still coming to terms with the fact that he was going to be a father at such a young age. After a moment more of incoherent stumblings, Izaak finally found his ground and himself again. "Well if you trust my taste in names, then I'd love to." A warm smile lifted his exhausted expression as he looked up at his friend from his crouch beside her. But his eyes soon flicked to her stomach and observed her free hand cradle it and their daughter. By now Izaak knew better, or at least he thought he did, than to just throw physical contact onto Isabella in the way he would with his other friends. So his own free hand raised above the slight swell in her abdomen, his long fingers flexed slightly from the squared shape of his palm before casting his gaze up to her for approval. "Can I... ?"

It was as if someone had blown some sort of fairy dust on them, she felt light headed but in control all at the same time. She knew without a doubt that she simply adored this baby growing within her and it was because she was part of him. She nodded her head chuckling lightly.
"Of course I trust you to pick a name" part of her wanted to emphasize that she meant him and not his girlfriend but she refrained from saying it out loud, not wanting to disturb or shatter the fragile friendship. Her hand continued to gently stroke her stomach and when she saw his hand hesitate over it and the plea in his voice, she felt awful. It seemed they both had such a long way to go before they would be able to trust one another completely, to be able to know when their boundaries were ok to pass through.

Bella reached out and gently taking his hand guided it to a certain part of her stomach where the baby seemed most active. As if in response to his hand, as if the baby knew she moved. Jerked about so that it seemed as if she were greeting her father. Bella laughed as she looked at him wishing fervently that things could be different but knowing it was an impossible dream.

She did not want to ruin this moment but part of her had to know.
"How does Alexis feel about you being a father?" he could of course tell her to mind her own business but she hoped he would be honest with her.
