Apparition Exam

Irene Finch had specifically asked for the tables to be left in place for the exam. If the sixth years were going to be licensed, then they would need to possess the ability to work with their surroundings. Apparating across an empty room was convenient for beginners to practice, but the chances of apparating to a truly empty space were going to be slim to none in the real world. There'd be tree filled forests, garbage strewn alleys, and perhaps, when they were lucky, the occasional field or valley. This would be an especially important test for those students who were interested in careers in the Ministry as apparating was a requirement for many of the positions. It was an important skill, allowing independence of movement.

Irene arrived at the castle just in time to greet the students who were waiting just outside the Great Hall. The students were seated on the benches that had been provided to await their turn. "Good afternoon" she greeted, her icy blue eyes taking them in one by one. "In a moment, I'll begin calling you in alphabetically by your last name. Once I do, I'll ask you to apparate to a spot in the room. You will only get one shot. I will not pass you if even a hair, button, or shoelace remains where you once stood." Irene's gaze drifted by several students. Irene let them sit with that for a moment, wanting it to be clear because she hated the annoying begging for another chance that came when a student failed. She looked at their faces, wondering which ones she would be seeing in the courses that were provided by the Ministry throughout the year. Many people failed the exam on their first try, but the woman did nothing to reassure the students of this fact. It had been an interesting semester of lessons with this group, so she wasn't sure how successful they would be.

Stepping back into the room, where her clipboard was already charmed to take notes, Irene looked to be sure all was in order and then glanced at the list and called the first student forward. Once the student was inside, Irene shut the door tightly and began the exam.

Roleplay your character's attempt to apparate to a point in the room, you can godmod where Irene directed them. Don't forget that the Great Hall would look as it would on a regular day minus the students. :p
You will get an exam grade of A or T depending on whether you roleplay your character succeeding or failing. Extra credit will be given for the level of detail in your roleplay regardless of passing or failing. Feel free to godmod Irene if it is necessary to your roleplay. If you have any questions, message me. No replies will be accepted beyond Wednesday, the end of exam period!

After several successful attempts, Teddy was cautiously optimistic about his Apparition exam. And even if he had thrown up after one, he could proudly say he had not splinched himself in the practices. He knew he'd have a little wait for his turn because he was pretty low down in the alphabet. He sat on one of the house benches in and watched as others went first.

When his name was called, it felt a little like sorting all over again. He stepped up to the point and took a deep breath, closed his eyes and thinking about the 3D's. He turned to move and felt the horrible sensation of being squeezed to a new destination. When he opened his eyes, he was stood on the spot and appeared to have apparated all parts of himself. He looked hopeful at the ministry official, waiting for her to confirm that he'd passed.

There was no way Audrey was going to fail this exam. She was looking forward to freely being able to apparate over the holidays. Dion said he'd take her out to some clubs to celebrate and it made Audrey feel very much like she was a real adult now. The stunt Teddy pulled made her all the more determined not to fail, as she couldn't make it seem like he'd got to her and couldn't make his lower opinion of her skills and abilities seem at all justified. But she was getting better at putting those things aside to focus on the task at hand, and that's exactly what she did.

She was one of the first called up and took her place, noting once again that it seemed like Ms Finch either hated her job, or teenagers, or both. She was starting to wonder if working in the Ministry sucked the joy of life out of people, or if this was just a bad example. Audrey was given her target, and focused on it. It was harder to focus with the tables in the way, but she managed to sharpen her gaze on it and picture herself standing there, instead of where she was. The tugging sensation of apparition was still a strange one, but it was a feeling she was happy to go with. It wasn't like the breathless and weak feeling that came over her in her animagus sessions. It just reminded her of a portkey; unpleasant, but very much worth it. She didn't forget a single part of her uniform, or indeed her, as she ended up standing exactly where she was meant to be with everything in place. Audrey once again gave a little jump of excitement, waiting for her success to be confirmed so she could dance out of the hall, head filled with plans for how she'd use her new skill.

Calie was nervous for the apparition exam, it was just the one exam where she wanted to do well, the one exam that she wasn’t sure she’d have a second chance at. She had managed it, had done it comfortably a couple of times but that didn’t stop her still getting nervous about it. Callie was in amongst the rest of the students and then went into the hall when she was called in. The room was set up different - well, no - it was set up differently to other lessons but was set up as it should be for the day to day. They just hadn’t gone through things, but it was the same she knew none of it would change. Callie glanced to where the teacher wanted her to land and nodded. She could follow the three Ds, focusing her mind being determined to get to it. She felt the pull quickly and leaned in, moving to the right spot with a crack. She took a breath before doing a check, but she had no pain so she had to figure that all of her had managed to come as she’s apparated. With that she was done.

Enoch needed to pass this, needed to get this. He just needed to. His life would be so much easier with it. He had plans, things he intended to do places he would go because he’d be basically of age and thus why would he stay with his brothers, any of them. They had never wanted him and he didn’t want them. Enoch stood amongst the rest, wanting to push himself to the front, wanting to go first and just have it be over with, but he had to wait - admittedly not long but still. Enoch walked into the hall and glanced at the teacher, he paid no mind to the room itself, just focusing on the where he needed to go. Where he was being instructed to land. He focused, with the ease from the previous lessons he was quick, leaning in easily when he felt it and moving to the spot. He smoothed down his shirt after he landed glad that he was all in one piece.

Friday was just eager to get started on this, eager to pass, though she was pretty nervous about it. There was a lot riding on it. On her managing this. Friday wanted to be successful at this, wanted to be able to leave school with this. Friday had to wait a very very long time before her name was called - just like sorting. She was finally brought in and she stepped forward, she was told where she was to go and felt her heckles rise over the difference in the room, but didn’t. It took a while, felt like too long. That she wasn’t going to get it. WOuld she be docked marks if she didn’t manage to do this quickly enough. But then as her mind whirled, she forced it to focus and then she felt it, that tug. She was across the room in milliseconds after, having managed it with ease once she had actually felt it.

Benicio was nervous. While he was able to apparate, doing so accurately was an entirely different matter and he knew that it did matter today. The Hufflepuff sat with the other sixth years, trying to hype himself up as he waited. Hearing his name, the Hufflepuff stood and gave a weak smile to his fellow sixth years before entering the Great Hall. He frowned as he saw that it looked as it did every day. Taking a deep breath as he received his destination, Benicio looked over to the furthest window. He was meant to land just next to it. In the next moment, Benicio felt the now familiar feeling of being stuffed through a tube and then he could breathe again. Realizing he was there, Benicio quickly gave his body a pat. Everything seemed to be in place. A grin appeared across his face as he realized that he'd done it. He had apparatus successfully.
