Apparition 3

[Irene Finch]

Before the end of the lesson, Irene Finch hoped that all of the students would succeed in apparating to their target. She knew that wouldn't be the case, but the pressure was on for the students. This was the last practice after all. Several of the students had managed to apparate during the last lesson even with the splinching that had happened, but that didn't always translate to success at the exam.

Addressing the small group of sixth years, Irene walked as she spoke. "Today, we will resume practicing" she began, her icy blue eyes staring at each of the students in turn as she spoke. "I am hopeful that those of you who weren't able to apparate last time will do so today. The next time we meet will be your exam and you will only get one opportunity to succeed or fail. Your test will require you to be accurate when you apparate." She let that sink in before continuing on.

"Line up beside me please." It didn't take them long to queue up. "Alright...I'd like you all to attempt apparating from this end of the Great Hall to that end" she said, pointing towards the doors of the Great Hall. "The red X marks the spot" she added, knowing that they had probably noticed an X etched onto the floor with magic as they walked in.

Glancing at all the students beside her, she hoped there would be no splinchings today, though she had asked for one of the school nurses to join them once again. "You can begin whenever you're ready" she said to the student who was first in line. "As soon as you feel comfortable, you may leave. But, please do remember that this is your final opportunity to practice before your exam." They were adults by wizarding standards or close enough anyway, so she wasn't going to force any of them to stay. It was in their best interests to take advantage of the time provided to them though.

[Teddy Pirrip]

Teddy had managed to apparate in the last session and decided it was probably like riding a bike in the sense that once you got it, you got it. Feeling confident, he joined the queue this time. When his turn came, he looked at the red X then closed his eyes, remembered the 3 D's, and visualised standing exactly on that X. He knew he had apparated from the sickening squeezing sensation that followed but he couldn't be sure on where to until he opened his eyes. When he looked, he saw he made it to the X, but was regretting his breakfast choices as the contents projectiled out right in front of him. “Urgh,” Teddy groaned, swaying slightly and looking pale. “I think I’ll sit the rest of the session out.” He wobbled off toward the nurse.

 

[Enoch Goldewyn]

Enoch walked into the great hall and looked to the x on the ground and could figure out how they'd be going about the apparition in this lesson. He listened to what was said and watched as others went before him. He nodded along, watching until it was finally his turn. He stood and stared at the x, focused his mind as he was supposed to do. Enoch felt the tug and let himself be pulled into it, apparating to be on the x spot. Everything seemed perfectly in tact. He didn't bother trying again, since he felt sure he had it.

 

[Callie Cardoso]

Callie walked into the great hall, and really it didn't take a genius to figure out what they would be doing. She nodded lightly and then went to stand in the line, opting to be fairly down so others could go first. She nodded at the instructions and then the first students were doing it. She watched and waited until it was her turn. She didn't love doing it in front of everyone where they had to watch her do it, but she could figure out why. This had to be as natural as walking. She concentrated, focused herself properly and then let herself relax and felt the tug. She was taken across the room to the x quickly and was pleased when she did. She didn't take the opportunity to try again, feeling pretty confident in her ability to do it.

 

[Friday Weeks]

Friday walked into the great hall and stood amongst the rest of the studnets. She was pretty near the top, and had known what this lesson would be about, but she'd managed to apparate in the previous lesson so wasn't feeling too nervous about this. She listened to what the teacher said and then watched as the first few students went. Friday was soon enough and she stood and looked towards the x, concentrating hard and then felt the tug. She was transported across the hall in a flash. Friday had all her limbs and rejoined the queue to be able to do it again. She practiced a few times before the lesson was wrapped up.

 

[Dominic Owens-Lee]

Dominic was yet again nervous for his next Apparition lesson. Despite having done it successfully last time, he wasn't sure what his chances were of messing up. He lined up with his classmates as instructed by the Ministry lady, glad that he wasn't the first in line to try apparating to the other side of the room. Everyone did it one by one and it was looking very good so far. He went over the three D's in his head until it was eventually his turn. He took a deep breath and attempted to clear his mind. He closed his eyes, and when he thought he had done it, he opened them again, but nothing had happened and he was still standing at the front of the line. His cheeks turned a shade of pink as he closed his eyes and tried again. He took another deep breath, just focusing on the three D's and trying to relax himself. It took a couple of tries but eventually the teen had done it. Relieved, Dominic thanked the Ministry lady before leaving.

 

[Audrey Beauchamp]

Audrey thoroughly enjoyed apparating, knowing how much freedom it would give her once she got her licence. She was already of age and could do magic outside of school, and now she'd be able to make the most of it and get out of the house more over the holidays. She did have to pass, though, and she couldn't get too complacent. But the sweet taste of freedom loomed...and so did the scent of Teddy's breakfast. Audrey made a face, though she didn't rush to help him. She was still mad at him, after all. Once it was cleaned up, she took her turn and focused on the X. She wasn't going to rush, she was simply going to will herself into place...and with a crack, there she was. Audrey wasn't going to let the opportunity go to waste, and kept practicing as long as she was allowed to. But after she'd done it a few times, and accidentally left her shoes behind when she insisted on going yet again, had to admit that she was tired and needed a break. She'd just have to be well rested and ready for the exam.

 

[Veronica Walden-Cade]

During their previous lesson Veronica had got pretty close to getting into the spot she needed, so she considered it a successful lesson. For their last lesson things were a little different and they were instructed to form a line on one end of the Great hall and stood across from a large X on the other side. They would have to apparate from one side to the other. Veronica took a breath before she stepped up for her turn. She felt the familiar twist and pull in her stomach as he body seemingly folded in on itself and when she opened her eyes she was stood on the X. She was relieved and left the lesson feeling good about herself.

 

[Benicio Matos]

Benicio was able to apparate now but accuracy was still quite the issue, he was discovering as they were given the opportunity to practice. He was just all over the place, sometimes near the X and other times not anywhere close. It didn't bode well for the upcoming exam, and Benicio wondered what was off. Was it his deliberation or determination? He felt pretty determined and thought he was focusing on the destination deliberately. The poor Hufflepuff was more confused than ever though quite good at moving somewhere by the end of the lesson.
