Jun was in a so-so mood. His few friends from school were busy doing other things and he wanted out of the house so he took a bus (with his mother's permission, of course) and went to a park not too far away. It wasn't a big park, but it was one Jun went to every now and then. He'd hung out on the playground many times and went straight for that. Jun had a feeling he was getting too old for playgrounds but he also had a sense of familiarity that he liked about this one in particular. There were a few younger kids on the slide so he went for the swings. Seating himself down, he started to swing lightly and started to think. Hogwarts seemed so close and so far away and he didn't know quite how to describe how he felt about that. Feelings, more complicated that he was used to, filled his chest. He couldn't unpack them so he let them be, just swinging and enjoying the fine weather.

While Chase didn't always enjoy going outside, he had heard about a playground reasonably close to his house, and that was always a fun time in his opinion! So he had made his way outside, headed down the road, and before he knew it he found himself looking amongst the playground, a bunch of other kids and their parents were running around the place. Upon looking around, he knew that there was one place that he wanted to go, the swings, and he made a beeline for them, immediately popping onto a swing without even asking the kid on the other swing if it was okay for him to join. He loved the feeling of being on the swing, the exhilaration of going back and forth, and after a minute he remembered the boy next to him. "Oh, hey! Is it okay if I join you?" Chase asked, halfheartedly. He probably wouldn't leave even if the person asked him too, if he was completely honest.

Jun looked up at the newcomer, a little confused at first but then he smiled. "Oh, yeah, it's cool," Jun said. He kind of wanted company anyway - he liked people. He wondered if the other boy wanted to be alone or not. Jun wasn't always the best at reading that. But he tried to start conversation anyway. "Swings are pretty great, huh? I have a friend who likes to swing really high, but I just like chilling out." It wasn't the best opener but Jun did his best while being on the spot. He was still feeling a little thoughtful about Hogwarts, and secretly wondered - was this person magical or not? He knew he couldn't exactly blab about magic so he didn't really know how to broach the subject. Maybe it would be better not to. He could make friends without that, right?
