Closed All Together

Jordie had the best friends in the world. He really did. He had made sure to dress cute (because he knew Nate would have a date and Jordie was going to at least look adorable) and he had a couple of small gifts tucked into his jacket. He was bouncing around, actually in a great mood as he waited for Ares and Weston to show up, singing softly to himself and dancing in place as he waited for his friends.

Weston didn't necessarily have the greatest track record when it came to the Yule Ball, but things seemed to be on an upward swing in recent years. Tonight, he would be meeting up with his friends, which he decided meant he was guaranteed to have a good time. He threw on a clean button-up shirt and hurried down the stairs, hoping he wouldn't be late.

The Great Hall was filled with twinkling lights and magical snow, and though this was the third time Weston had seen the room decorated this way, it still took his breath away. He tore his gaze way from the ceiling and started to search the crowd for Jordie and Ares. Spotting the Hufflepuff dancing in place, Weston hurried over to join him. "Hey!" he greeted with a bright grin. "Dancing already?" He joined Jordie in bouncing up and down to the music.

Ares wasn't really sure what to expect from the Yule Ball at Hogwarts New Zealand. He knew he had to dress nice, and so found the only nice shirt that he had to wear. It was pink, but he didn't think that mattered too much, as he didn't mind standing out sometimes. He wore a floral tie with it, feeling as though a plain coloured one would be boring. As he entered the Great Hall his eyes immediately began looking for Jordie. When he eventually found him, he felt his stomach tense up inside him, suddenly nervous when he realised how good he had looked. How did Jordie always do it so easily? He was dancing with Weston, and despite Ares not being the dancing type, he made his way over there, smiling and waving before speaking. "It didn't take you guys long to find the dance floor!" he exclaimed over the loud music.

Jordie lit up as Weston arrived and started dancing more freely, enjoying his friends company immediately. Ares arrived almost immediately after. "Hey guys!" Jordie greeted, already loving this plan. He did a dramatic spin that put him closer to Ares by the time he straightened out again. "This was a great idea!" He laughed loudly. "Let's go grab some drinks and a table, I brought you guys some presents!" He told them over the music, looking between them happily. He'd already completely forgotten about Nate, and he looked genuinely happy for probably the first time that semester.

It wasn't long before Ares also showed up, and Weston shot the older boy a grin. "C'mon, you gotta dance too!" Following Jordie's lead, he also tried to do a spin and nearly knocked into a nearby girl, who glared at him before flouncing off. But Weston was too busy enjoying the moment to notice. Jordie's happiness was contagious, and it wasn't long before he was laughing as well. This really was a great idea. At Jordie's next suggestion, Weston nodded and started to move to the drinks table. "You got us presents?" he asked, surprised.

Ares couldn't help the embarrassment that flooded him when Weston suggested that he dance too. He tried to shrug it off however, despite how bad he knew he was at it, and hoped that they wouldn't judge him too harshly. "Yeah, of course." he said before bouncing up and down awkwardly on the spot. He was barely in time with the music but he just wanted to have fun and fit in with his two new friends. Ares was glad when Jordie had changed the topic. "Presents? Why did you get us presents?" Ares asked curiously, wondering perhaps if he should have brought them presents too. Was that what usually happened at the Yule Balls? Ares just hoped the present wasn't too much trouble for the boy.

Jordie had fun dancing with the boys, but was quick as well to try and pull them along for snacks. "I did! And I did it because it's Christmas, and because hanging out with you guys has literally been the only thing that's made me happy all semester," He stated like it was obvious. When he reached the drinks table, he picked up a cup and took a swig, turning to smile at his friends. "It's not anything big but still, I thought you guys would like it,"

His grin widened when Ares joined them in dancing. Weston himself wasn't a very good dancer, but that was beside the point, which was to have fun. And he was definitely having fun. At the drinks table, Jordie explained why he had gotten them presents. Weston returned the smile before glancing quickly at Ares to see what the Slytherin made of this statement. While Weston was glad that Jordie seemed to be happy, it was slightly concerning that hanging out with them was the only thing that had made Jordie happy. He waited a beat before asking, "So where is it?"

Ares knew how much Jordie loved his friends, and the Slytherin was forever grateful that he was one of them. It didn't take too long for them to become friends either and it was definitely what made Hogwarts so much better. He understood exactly what Jordie meant when he said that they were the only thing that made him happy that semester. The teen gave his friend a sympathetic smile, before then following him to the drinks table with Weston. He told them he had something small for them, and Ares just kept quiet, wondering what the boy had planned.

Jordie couldn't help but laugh at Weston's comment. "Alright, come on," He motioned for the boys to follow him to an open table. He set his drink down and reached into his jacket. He pulled out Westons' present first, setting it in front of the Ravenclaw. It was a box of candies, a varied assortment of all of Wes' favorite treats, along with some custom picks and a signed photo from Westons' favorite musical artist.

Jordie pulled out Ares' gift and set it in front of the Slytherin, smiling widely. He wasn't as sure about this gift, but he was fairly certain. It was a dark oak jewelry box with Ares' name carved into the lid, and covered with suns, moons, and stars. Inside were about a dozen gem rings, and the jewelry section opened up to reveal a leather bound journal, also with Ares' name on the cover.
