The rain came down in buckets as Eric trudged through one puddle after another as he made his way to the only person who would understand the pain he was going throught. Eric eyes were swollen and bloodshot and he could not find the strength to move on yet. Just last night he practically begged Sirius to pick him and yet Eric knew the man would have never picked him. Eric had been so desperate to find love that he left himself open to heartbreak. Eric began to cry as he walked up to Irenes door.

Why was that he was not meant for love? He had tons of female admirers but they would never be able to make him happy and any relationship he would have with them would be a sad lie. He raised his hand and knocked on the door with little energy as he fell to his knees and criead some more. He was a broken man and if he would pick up the pieces he knew that Irene would bring the glue.

Now in her eighth month, Irene was beginning to find it more difficult to get around. She'd stopped apparating a month ago, feeling that it wouldn't be safe for her unborn daughter to attempt the travel. She'd never splinched before, but she wasn't willing to take the risk. As she waddled her way towards her kitchen where tea was preparing itself, Irene could have sworn she heard a knock on her door. She wasn't expecting anyone though when her brother or Lukyan would stop by was unknown to her. Both men had begun to drop in more frequently just in case she needed their assistance. It was a bit annoying but she knew they meant well, and she enjoyed the attention.

Irene ignored the noise especially since it was pouring out and headed into the kitchen to grab a spot of tea. As she headed back towards her front door, something told Irene to check through her peephole. What she saw there nearly caused her to drop her cup. She let it go where it hovered in the air and she reached with one hand for the door, which she ripped open, and with the other she pulled out her wand and performed a wordless spell to summon towels from her linen closet. "Eric! What's wrong? Come inside" she shrieked, reaching out a hand to touch her friend's soaked shoulder to usher him inside. It was the best she could do since kneeling was nearly impossible for the heavily pregnant woman. This was her best friend and there was obviously something very wrong with him to show up at her doorstep like this.

Eric heard Irene over the sound of his own tears and rain which made him cry a little more, here he was late at night on the doorestep of his very pregnant best friend. He felt pathetic and worthless but he had no where else to go and he jsut could not be alone tonight not like this he would go crazy if left alone. Eric made his way inside the house where he stood shivering and dripping wet all over the floor.

Eric looked at Irene and felt like a broken man but he knew she was there for him, "He is gone, or should I say I left and Babycakes it hurts so bad."Eric said as he cried a little. More before tried to pull it together. He was once again alone but this time he was afraid it would be for good. He was so stupid to think that Sirius wanted him, how could he sleep with Eric and not be gay but it seemed as though it did not matter alone the dee and was done and the cut was too deep.

Irene grabbed the towel that she had summoned and began to try and dry her friend's head as he spoke. It was fairly useless though because he apparently had been outside for a while before she'd found him outside. Letting it drop, Irene went for her wand once more, about to try a Hot Air charm but before she could, she heard Eric say he'd been dumped.

"Oh Eric...I'm so sorry" she spoke, a sad tone to her voice as she sympathized with her friend. Eric had been telling her about the guy he'd been after and Irene had tried her best to give her friend advice though she had no idea that this would've happened. "What happened?" she asked, wanting to hear what had happened.

"Sirius left me for a woman or should I say that he left me so that someday he could be with a woman. He said that he was straight and that was not going to change and so I felt terrible and longing to be with some heck anyone really and so I met up with him last night at the bar and we argued a little and then we went to his place and I left this morning before he woke up if you catch my drift." Eric said in a soft voice as his shivers seemed to subside a little due to Irenes fusing. Eric smilded slightly as the woman seemed to just be made to be a mother regardless of if she actually liked kids.

"I am meant to be old and alone and I am slowly realizing it now! I am going to be a grumpy miserable queen Irene!" Eric said in a comical way as his eyes began to water up slightly giving him a sad puppy dog appearance. He realized that Irene was getting bigger every time he saw here and sure enough she would pop soon and so Eric made a mental no to be always ready for the water breaking phone call.

Irene listened to Eric as he spoke about Sirius, the man he'd been going on about the past few weeks. She frowned, feeling terrible for her friend as he so obviously was in pain. Irene's blue eyes narrowed. She most definitely caught Eric's drift. "I ought to curse him for you...maybe he'll regret his decision to be with a woman" she mused. A wicked grin would have crossed her face if she didn't think that it would upset Eric greatly. "Or maybe I should curse the girl?" she added thoughtfully and then shrugged.

"Sit" she commanded, pointing at her couch as a teapot slowly came into the living room, followed by tea cups, sugar and milk. She grabbed the handle of the pot and walked over to Eric. It was more of a waddle though, which she hated. "You are not going to be alone forever Eric" she said slowly and deliberately as she fussed with the tea cups. When she was done, she looked up at her best friend and held out a cup to him. "You won't" she said, more gently this time. "You just have to kiss a few more hippogriffs, but I know you'll find someone great for you. You're too great to not find someone" she stated, wondering why none of the guys who dated her friend seemed to seewhat she did. If he wasn't gay, Irene would have snatched him up a long time ago. Instead, she was stuck with her pregnancy and the drama that was Lukyan Kozlov.

Eric sat down on the couch with little to no sound as he tried to continue to stay warm but he found himself tired like a little boy in the arms of his mom. Evan smiled as the woman went about her scary almost to perfectly evil ways as she voice the thought of cursing Sirius or the woman he would go on to love. Evan was trying to turn his mood around and with Irene it came almost naturally especially when she had a fresh pot of her famous tea that he loved so much. Evan got himself of the the wonderful brew and added a little cream to his before taking a sip and sitting back on the couch and patting the spot next to him for the pregant woman to rest her mostly likely swollen feet.

"I am tired of kissing hippogriffs I am looking for a man to love me that is all... why is that so hard to find and why then can I not find him?" Eric asked as he wrapped his arm around the woman and snuggled into her as he took a slight wiff of her perfume which he loved. If he was straight it would be Irene that he would come home to but as he was not he relished in the thought he was able to remain close to the woman. Eric wondered how she was holding up with the baby and her brother and her babys father now that she was getting closer to her due date.

Irene was glad to see a small smile on Eric's face. He'd frightened her for a moment and as he patted the seat beside himself, she walked around her little coffee table and settled herself into the space, her feet tucking in under her slightly. It was the only way she could sit comfortably these days.

Irene certainly could understand where her friend was coming from. It was difficult for her as well and now with a child on the way, she was certain that finding a man who would be willing to accept her and her daughter would be nearly impossible. She had the feeling that Lukyan was already aware of what she was just realizing now: that his offer might be the best one she ever received. As Eric snuggled closer, Irene patted him on the shoulder. "Maybe we can go out and find brothers- one for each of us- to marry. There has to be a pair that will realize how great we are" she said, only half joking. "Except that plan might have to wait a few months until I can get back into my old clothing" she said, looking down at her huge belly that was likely to scare any suitors away.

"If we found brothers than we would be related in a distance sense! As for a couple of months I think I will give up on love after all the smoke clears with this nightmare. I am so tired of heartache and pain that if I am forced anymore hardship I think I will just die or go insane!"Eric said as he took another sip of his tea and rest his head on his friends as they sat in each others company. Eric was alot better as the tea seemed to warm him from the inside out and calm his already shaky nerves. He had been slowly gaining control if not for himself but for Irene who he knew was worried about him and his overall well being. However he did want to show that he was okay and so for the time bieng he decided to change the subject as he wanted to know what was going on with his friend and the crazy men in her life.

"Speaking of no good men how is that beau of a brother of yours and the man who turned you into the goodyear blimp?"Eric asked as he joked with the woman about her brother and the father of her future daughter. Both men had issues but Eric knew that they had made a great improvement since the whole pregnancy had started. Somewhere inside hewas mildly jealous of Irene for here was a successful woman who had almost everything andnow she was had managed to get her brother to be more supportive along with the father of her baby which was a rather difficult task to begin with as neither were people who he had expected to change. Eric would get there some day he just wished and prayed that he was not going to be heartbroken too much more along the way.

The faint smile that had crossed Irene's face quickly turned into a frown as she listened to her friend speak. She hated when he spoke that way but she knew that he was in pain now and blamed that for him speaking the way he was. Hopefully in a few weeks he would change his tune a bit. "You don't mean that" she said quietly, taking a sip of her tea and then putting it down as she sighed at what he asked.

"Ioan is fine. He's promised to be ready and available when I finally go into labor, but he's so difficult to get in touch with" she complained. Ioan was hardly ever home and she could never get a straight answer from Adrianne about where he was. "And Lukyan promises to be at the birth" she rolled her eyes and shrugged as if to say that she didn't exactly believe it. "I guess we'll see." She opened her mouth to tell Eric about Lukyan's proposal and her rejection of it, but then looked down instead. She didn't want to upset her friend with the thought that she'd been given the opportunity that both had been waiting for and rejected it, but she had no plans to marry Lukyan simply to make things right. "I can't believe I'll really be a mother soon" she added.

Eric flinched when he heard the sadness in the hurt in Irenes voice when he joked about just dying for if anyone would be hurt by his selfishness it wouldbe Irene. Eric apologized softly as he gave the woman a slight hug rather than speaking the three words that simply would not be enough to make it all better. Eric listened to Irene talk about her brother which he could her a slight frustration in her words but it was common whenever she spoke about him he was so unpredictable and all over the place for anyone to get a read on him. Then Lukyan was a whole nother pile of problems all together as he was being more supportive but still had not gained Irenes trust.

"Typical men, they are there when they need something and gone when you neef them!" Eric said as he sighed slightly and rolled his eyes. He was a man but he did not like to be classified with the rest of his sex beccause he knew how to treat a lady right. "I can not wait for our little girl to arrive she will be the most well off child in the world with you and me in her life." Eric said as he moved to place his head gently on the womans stomach."you my sweet little god angel are very lucky for you have the worlds greatest mommy in the whole wide world!" Eric whispered softly before sitting up again and smiling at Irene. If he was straight she would have been the one...

Irene heard Eric's soft apology and a small smile crept onto her face. She needed as she listened to her friend speak. Those were wise words indeed. "That's definitely Ioan and Lukyan" she sighed, her hand moved to gently pat Eric's head as he laid it on her stomach. The baby was being fairly restless these days, no doubt because she was nearly ready to emerge. "You and me both! I am tired of being pregnant. You have no idea" she added with an eye roll. The back aches, the swollen ankles, the endless changes that this baby had brought to her body...Irene was tired of it all.

As he gave her his charming smile, Irene returned it. It was times like this when it was easiest to pretend that she and Eric were the parents of the baby. If only! The reality was that Eric was certainly not interested in Irene in that way and she was stuck with Lukyan like it or not. "She's going to love her goddaddy just as much as I do" she said with a large smile as she once again lifted the tea up for a sip.

Eric yawned slightly as the effect of his tear finally began to set in and with the warm of the room and gentle tea he would be out like a light if he let himself just relax. He looked at Irene and was glad she was in his life and knew that without her he would be far worse off than before. Eric knew that he would find prince charming someday and once he got his life in order than he would be able to keep them when he found them

Eric would need to turn a new chapter in his life and now seemed like a good enough time than ever he was at the bottom of his hole and there seemed to be only one way to go from here and that was of course up. He was going to be a god father soon and with work coming to a close with Exams and licensing he would have time to get it all together.

"Darlin do you mind if I shack up with you tonight I am way too tired to attempt to travel back to my place?" Eric said softly.

Irene was content to sit quietly with her best friend. She felt comfortable with him around and she let him be free with his own thoughts for a short while. Sipping her tea quietly, her hand rubbed her belly gently. Eric's question broke the silence and she looked over to him smiling. "Do you even have to really ask?" she said with a smile, her blue eyes looking down at her friend. "Of course you can" she said, leaning over to give her friend a chaste kiss on the cheek before slowly getting to her feet.

He knew where the guest room was, so Irene didn't feel the need to escort him there. "I'm heading up now myself. I'm beat" she said, stifling a yawn. The baby tired her out these days.

Eric smiled when Irene gave him a kiss on the cheek as he too stood up and stretched slightly himself he smiled at the woman and after making sure the house was locked up and the security spells were in place he followed the woman to her room and made sure she had everything that she need before he headed down to the spare room and closed the door as he removed his wet clothes and crawled under the cool sheets and before he knew it he was out like a light . He tossed in turned through the night but then he thought of the little baby that Irene was going to have and the changes that he was going to make in the next couple of day and he seemed to relax as he drifted into a deep sleep.
