Patricia made her way up to the castle, trying her best not to talk to Theodore and Alyssa, because well she had had enough of talking to them for a while. Today had not panned out the way she had planned when she left for Herbology class that morning. Instead it turned out to be worse than she expected. Not only had she got into a fight during Herbology class, having gotten herself covered in dirt and she was sure a few bruises were starting to form, but her dad had kept her and the two Snow's behind afterwards and made them talk about the whole thing.

Patricia would have expected any Professor to do the same thing but the fact that the cause of the fight had to do with Patricia's Step - Mum, Patricia wasn't too keen on letting her dad in on the whole thing. As Patricia made her way through the Entrance Hall to get up to the her dorm and get out of the dirty clothes she could only think of one thing, her and Hades planned had officially started. A small smirk crossed her face as she waited for her brother to start his end of the deal now.

Being hungry was a down-side to being alive. More often than not, Ruki would feel the sickly sensation in the pit of his stomach; which would be screaming out for food. Answering the screams, the young wizard descended the castle from his dormitory. Maybe after he was done with a bite to eat, the sixth year could lounge in the Brother-hood's secret hide-out-bat-cave thing and complete some of the homework he had avoided working on for a few days.

Reaching the ground floor changed his thoughts however, and the hunger he felt seemed to vanish as a friend of his entered through the large doors covered in mud. With a confused expression across his face, Ruki stepped towards the young girl; half of his mind rushing to deal with whomever had caused the situation. "Patricia.". The confusion had moved from his face to his voice, as Ruki closed the gap between the two. "Are you okay?".

Out of the side of her eye Patricia could see flicker of blonde and Theodore and Alyssa made their way back to the Slytherin House, she wasn't looking forward to the rest of her classes that she had with them, especially Herbology. Shaking her head of the worries she faced forward to make her way to the staircase. As she turned her head she heard a familiar voice call her name.

As she turned her face she saw one of her good friends Ruki, her smirk turned into one of her usual smiles. "Hiya Ruki!" she said with happiness in her voice, she hadn't seen her friend since they left for the holidays. "I'm fine!" she replied back, unsure of the confusion in his voice. Although upon seeing Ruki she had momentarily forgotten that she was covered in mud. Blushing slightly she said, "Oh this." Casting her face to her mud covered robes. "Had a slight misunderstanding with a few plants in Herbology...and maybe a few students." she said biting her bottom lip. She definitely wasn't happy with her performance in class today, she definitely didn't know how her friend would take it.

Seeing his friend's face almost light up caused Ruki to relax slightly, although; he was un-sure whether she really was fine as she responded, with a cheerful voice as always. Watching as the young Hufflepuff continued, Ruki listened to her words. 'Maybe a few students'. A smile made its way onto the young wizard's own face. There was always something slightly satisfying about having a scrap with someone once in a while. "Where you victorious?", the sixth year questioned. If she wasn't, he wouldn't have an issue dealing with the situation himself. Even though he was attempting to remain away from any form of trouble during his time at this school. Many situations he rushed in to never had a good ending.

Patricia laughed at Ruki's question, it was definitely not the one she was expecting. As she thought about his question and, more specifically, her answer to it, she discovered she didn't really know the outcome of the 'fight.' "Um..." she started off. "Well I beat the plant after it gave me a few punches." she said, looking at the bruises starting to form on her arms and hands. "As for the students, dad called us into his office before we get a decent fight out of it." she informed her friend. Having known Kalif Styx was her dad for over a year now Patricia was finding it easy to let it slip her mind and call him 'dad' in general conversation, although she kept forgetting not everyone knew about it.

Seeing his friend laugh was a good sign. The situation couldn't have been too bad if she wasn't in a bad mood about it. as she spoke, Ruki remembered his Herbology lesson the previous year; and the plant that had cracked him across the chin before bouncing around the class-room. That certainly wasn't enjoyable. And by the looks of the colour of the girl's arms, she hadn't really enjoyed it either. Patricia's next sentence took a moment to sink in for the young wizard. He had heard clearly what she had said, but the word 'dad' brushed by un-noticed; until he thought about it. Had she meant to say dad. And had she meant her father. Choosing to question her, Ruki spoke. "Your father?". If true, he definitely wished to know more. The thought of his father working at the school caused his stomach to drop. He wouldn't be able to run anywhere.

Patricia looked at Ruki as she waited for him to say something. Then again she couldn't really be sure if he was going to reply to what she had said but there was something about the look on his face that Patricia wait for him to speak first. When he did eventually talk Patricia felt a tad uneasy. Her stomach turned in uncomfortable knots as realised she must have called Professor Styx 'dad' again without noticing, she really didn't like herself for doing so.

The uneasy feeling wasn't helped by the fact that she hadn't told Ruki about it, granted she wasn't telling a lot of people because it wasn't something she was willing to shout from the rooftops. Although after a year she figured it wasn't such a big deal so she had no objections to letting her friends know about the situation. "Yes, my father." she said firstly, confirming his question. No matter how many times she told this story it never got any easier. "Professor Styx is my dad, I only found out a little over a year ago and I'm still trying to get used to it." she told her friend, wondering if he was going to ask any other questions.

His thoughts where confirmed when Patricia answered him. Not really knowing anything about the girls family, Ruki thought, at least for her, it might be a good thing. after all, she had been called into his office for fighting; and she appeared cheerful about everything. Maybe it had its advantages. As the young girl continued to speak, the Gryffindor listened intently. He was a little shocked she hadn't known about the man up until a year ago. As much as he hated his parents, he at least had both of them. "I'm sorry.", Ruki attempted his best to offer comfort. "It would be a shock; after all that time.". The young wizard tried to re-call past conversations. He couldn't remember whether Patricia had mentioned a father before, so he wasn't going to cause up-set by mentioning something he may be wrong about. "Do you get along well?". As a professor, the man seemed rather distant and cold. Would he be the same as a father.

Patricia looked up into Ruki's face so she could see what his reaction to the news would be like. She bit her bottom lip, she could never tell how people were going to react to it, people had all taken it so many different ways. When he spoke words of sympathy Patricia smiled lightly. She decided not to say anything until she was sure he was finished talking, she liked to say everything in one go so in turn she liked to give her friends the same courtesy.

She nodded her head in agreement when he stated that it would be a shock, even after all the time, because well it was true. Fair enough she was getting used to the fact but when she thought back on the 14 years of her life that she had thought one Gerard Rogers was her dad, it was a shock. His question was one that threw her off a bit but despite that she found the answer easily, "Well no, not really." she said with a half laugh. "I mean, I didn't exactly take the news too well, and neither did he from what I'm told." she said with a shrug of her shoulders. "But he's not too bad, I suppose." she said, a bit unsure. She was trying to take Hades' words to heart and get over whatever it was she had against the man.

Even though he had asked the question, Ruki hadn't expected the answer he received. As Patricia spoke, the young wizard wondered just how bad things where for her. He would have no idea what it was like to grow up only to find out who his father was later. Un-fortunately for him, his parents where his parents. If the professor wasn't such a bad person, maybe everything would be okay for the young girl. Offering a comforting smile, Ruki decided on a change of subject.

"Have you anything planned for after you clean up?". The sixth year had begun to feel hunger again. "We could have a sandwich; and catch up?", his eyes flicked towards the great hall. He wanted more than a sandwich.

Patricia felt the mood drop a bit as she waited for her friend to say something, anything. This was one of the reasons she didn't tell too many people about Kalif, sometimes it was too awkward for them to react too and even though most of the time they felt sorry for Pat, she felt sorry for them in return. Really, who liked been the one that had news like that dumped on them, it wasn't the nicest of experiences. Then again, Patricia felt that some people had the right to know and when she knew they would take it well, she had no worries about telling them. Although, in Ruki's case it was all down to Pat's big mouth.

She sighed as the silence dragged on, hoping for some sort of miracle to happen. At the sound of Ruki's voice Patricia breathed a sigh of relieve and as she heard his words her smile grew once more. "Food sounds great right about now." Patricia said, having missed lunch due to being kept behind in her fathers office. "How about I go change and meet you shortly?" she asked. She was starting to feel a little uncomfortable standing in the middle of the entrance hall in her dirty clothes, although in her childhood she hardly went a day without getting her clothes dirty.

The Gryffindor student heard the words he was now desperate to hear. Food wouldn't be so far away. What he would have exactly was un-known. He knew for certain he could pig out of everything, especially whilst a lady was present. With the young Hufflepuff's question, Ruki smiled broadly; before responding, "That seems to be a rather good idea. Appearances have to be kept you know.". Ruki chuckled lightly, feigning looking over his shoulders as he spoke. At least joking with his friend might help take her mind off of the earlier events.

"I shall await your return shortly; after which we will feast on a banquet of whatever scraps we can salvage from the mice.". Ruki grinned at Patricia. A smile of hers was always worth seeing.

At Ruki's comment Patricia crossed her arms across her chest as she tried to refraine from laughing too much as she tried to scowl at her friend. Of course she wasn't able to keep it up too long, she was only able to properly scowl at people she didn't like, such as Theodore, and Ruki wasn't one of those people - far from it in fact. "I didn't realise you were so into Fashion. You should join the Conglomatered Arts Club, I'm sure Bella would be gald to have a few more guinea pigs," she said with a grin before quickly saying, "I mean males in the Fashion end of it." Pretending as if she hadn't said 'guinea pigs' at all. Patricia laughed at Ruki's clear over exaggeration on some food, shaking her head at how funny it sounded. "Sounds great. See you shortly." She said, still laughing, as she gave her friend a small wave and ran up the stairs to her common room.
Patrici didn't take too long getting ready, but then again her room was now a mess which she'd worry about when she got back later. Tieing her chunky waistcoat around her belly she checked herself in the mirror one more time. Fiddling with the robes of her waistcoat she made her way back down to the Entrance Hall, hoping Ruki hadn't gotten fed up waiting on her. Skipping a few steps it wasn't too long until she was jumping the last step into the Entrance Hall. "Ah sorry I took so long." she said as she approaced her friend. "Shall we go stuff how faces?" She asked with a grin on her face.

Watching the young Hufflepuff cross her arms, Ruki knew she had cheered up a bit; whilst attempting a half-hearted scowl. As she spoke, the young wizard shook his head lightly; "Being presentable yes, fashion; not so much.". Catching the part about guinea pigs, the young wizard held a puzzled look for a second; as he attempted to figure out what the creature was. He had seen many cooked pigs during the times at high-class evening dinners. Maybe these guinea ones where something used in the fashion world.

Hearing Patricia's laughter, the sixth year smiled broadly towards her; whilst she agreed to a bite to eat, before heading off up the castle. Giving a small wave back, the young Gryffindor chose to wait by the doors to the Great Hall. It would have been seen as rude if he simply went in and took a seat before his friend returned.

It wasn't too long before she had re-appeared, jumping the final step of the large stair-case as she reached the entrance-hall. Pushing himself off of the wall he had leaned against, Ruki watched his rather nicely dressed friend move towards him. Although the top did make her look much older. As if she should have twenty cats following at her ankles. "It was no bother to wait.", Ruki replied to her words. "After you?". The young wizard smiled politely as he allowed for the young girl to enter ahead of him.

Patricia was glad that Ruki didn't mind waiting, she didn't like to keep people waiting - it always made her feel sort of bad. When Ruki let her walk into the Great Hall first she returned his smile as she walked out in front of him. "Thank you." she said as she made her way into the Great Hall. Even though Patricia had known her friend for about a year now she still couldn't get over how polite he was. It was such a difference compared to most of the other boys Patricia knew, Theodore being the first one that came to mind.

Entering the Hall she was glad to see that it wasn't too full, then again lunch was long over and it was a while until dinner. Turning to face Ruki she asked him, "Um! Gryffindor table or Hufflepuff table?" With an unsure voice. It didn't overly matter to her, Patricia wasn't one for house prejudice.

Stepping into the hall behind his friend, Ruki could feel his hunger growing a little more. As Patricia gave thanks, the young Gryffindor simply nodded. Automatically, the sixth year aimed his feet in the direction of his own house table; but then paused as the young girl spoke again. "Either or," he responded. Even though he had been at the school for a year and bit now, he still couldn't see the point of having separate houses on separate tables. Everyone should be allowed to sit wherever they wished. At least in Durmstrang they could. "Any table is good for me.". Even the so called evil Slytherin's table was an option. Not one of them would cause the transfer student to worry.

Short, sorry. :(

No, it's great ^_^
Patricia frowned her eyebrows for a minute, she didn't know which table to go too. It was a shame that they wasn't a table that everyone could sit at, making situations like this so much more easier. Letting out a sigh she noticed how her friend's body was directed at his own house table. Not having sat at another Houses table before, and seeing nothing wrong in doing so, she figured she should give it a go. "Gryffindor it is." she replied, smiling up at her friend before making her way over to the Gryffindor table.

Sitting down she kept her eyes cast down on the table, trying to avoid some of the odd glances that she was getting from people around her - especially the Gryffindors. Not that she minded, she had a few friends in Gryffindor and was having lunch with one of them at the moment so it's not like she just sat there because she felt like it. Grabbing a plate a pulling a few bits of food towards her she started to fill her plate. "Was it like this at Durmstrang?" she asked, never really having talked to Ruki about his previous school before. "I mean, everyone being separated." she elaborated.

Smiling as his friend chose a place to sit, the sixth year followed her to his own house table. It wasn't any different from the others. Made of wood; stood on legs; and often had students attached to it. Climbing onto the in-side of the bench, Ruki collected a plate and a couple of cups. Noticing the odd stares towards the pair, the young wizard stared back at each student in turn. He may be polite and gentlemanly; but his head often ruled his heart. Once the gazes where no longer upon them, Ruki took a seat and began selecting a few tasty looking items. Spotting a dish of mince, the sixth year decided that would fill him up; and scooped a few potatoes onto his plate. Pulling apart a small; white bread-bun, the young wizard dipped it into the mince; ready to enjoy his meal until Patricia spoke. Turning towards her, he shrugged his shoulders before answering. "We where never segregated into separate houses for anything. One castle full of students; and a much better way to meet people.". Ruki sighed a little as he spoke. He wouldn't exactly say he missed the school, but he had grew up there. And not having a decent opportunity to meet everyone at Hogwarts seemed a little disappointing.

Reaching for a jug of orange juice, the young wizard offered some to Patricia. "Would my lady care for a drink?".

As Patricia placed a few chicken pieces, potatoes and salad on to her plate she listened to her friends words. She hadn't heard a lot of nice things about Durmstrang even though there was some nice people that attended there, Steph and her boyfriend, Jude, heck even Ruki had attended there, so clearly the place couldn't have been all bad. Although what had made it seem better than Hogwarts was the whole 'no houses' thing. Patricia didn't mind the houses and loved being in Hufflepuff but it often brought up too much problems within the school and the student-body, making people think that it was ok to hate to Slytherins because they were 'mean' and pick on Hufflepuffs because they were 'kind.' It got too out of control at times. "Sounds great!" she replied truthfully.

As she lifted up her knife and fork to start eating she heard Ruki offer her some juice. Giggling a bit at his words Patricia replied, "Why thank you kind Sir!" With a grin on her face as she lifted a cup for herself. "So speaking off meeting people, how are you finding Hogwarts, having been here for a year now?" She asked, interested in how her friend was getting on, he seemed to be doing alright but one could never be sure, plus it couldn't be easy starting a new school over half way through your school career.

With Patricia's acceptance of a drink, Ruki poured her a cup; smiling at her response. Many people would seemingly look at him as if he was a bit strange, but this young girl could see the funny side to the way he was. It wasn't an issue being polite, in fact; Ruki loved it. Focusing his attention once more to the Hufflepuff, the sixth year listened to her question; before taking a moment to think. The school was indeed interesting and different from any other he had studied within. It amazed him slightly that a year had gone by; almost too soon. After taking a sip of juice, the young wizard responded. "I find the school to be complex. Certain parts are still confusing, such as the stair-cases.", the Gryffindor tucked in to his meal, before continuing; "The work is rather different to what I was used to; but is still a good way to learn more about who I am.". Ruki smiled. The further he managed to remove himself from the darker magic, the better.

"How is the school for you?, with having studied here since your first year?". Ruki felt the two hadn't talked much since meeting, so any and all questions could be asked of each other today. At least they could get to know each other, and themselves, a little better.

Thanking Ruki for the drink she took a small sip as her friend answered her question. At his answer Patricia was glad that she had taken her drink or she would have probably snorted it out of her nose as she laughed at his reply. "Oh hell. I'll never get used to those staircases so you aren't on your own." she informed him, they truly were one of the worst things about the school, especially when they made you late for class. Then again that hadn't really happened since her first year, after she learned to leave early enough for class since. Patricia smiled and nodded at the rest of his answer, not wanting to say anything with food in her mouth.

When he question was returned to her she replied, "It's gotten better since first year, but there are times I feel I have to study harder than some people. Having been raised as a muggle I knew nothing of the magical world until I started here." she told him. "Even though I have two magical parents now, I don't live with them so I'm not around magic as much as my classmates." she informed him with a shrug. She had become used to the fact of not always going to have that extra advantage in certain classes like Charms when she didn't know spells that perhaps some of her classmates saw everyday when growing up. "Apart from that, I love it! Heck if I had never come here I never would have found out who my real father was and that I had a whole other family." she said with a small laugh, never having actually saying that out loud before. There was times that she wasn't too happy about finding out about her other family, but there was times she loved it, like Niccy for example.

As his friend responded to what he had answered, Ruki continued to enjoy his meal; pausing for a second to see Patricia laugh slightly. The young wizard smiled as she informed him of her own dis-like of the stairs. It made little to no sense to him as to why they had been created in the first place. It wasn't much of a problem for the sixth year being late to lessons, as he often had enough spare time to walk to class-rooms early. Stepping on to a set of stairs that then chose to swing around to another floor was just an annoyance.

Taking in the young girl's reply to his own question, Ruki nodded several times to show he was listening. Being brought up around magic, the young wizard hardly knew how those who weren't managed to understand everything. It would seemingly be a shock to them; especially those whom where Muggle-born. As he continued to listen, Ruki looked towards his friend as she began to sound excited. Maybe finding her real family was the right thing for her. And if it made her happy, then it was certainly a good thing. "It isn't such a huge issue not being around magic all of the time. Since we're not supposed to use our gifts out-side of the school, it can seem a little irritating.". It wouldn't be long until his trace was lifted however, as he was shortly coming of age. Not that it mattered, having performed magic almost as soon as he had reached New Zealand a little over a year ago. "Would you ever want to live with your real parents?", Ruki questioned; remembering what Patricia had said. Living with his parents would no longer be an option for the young wizard. Now that he was to become seventeen, he was fully capable of owning a place of his own. And even if he couldn't locate anywhere, there was always the Half-way House for the holidays again.

As she talked a bit about herself to her friend she was appreciative of the fact that he kept eye contact with her. Sure to some it may seem like a strange thing to think about during a conversation but when one is talking about things that are personal to them and maybe sometimes hard to talk about, knowing that the person you are talking to is actually paying attention, well it meant a lot to Patricia. It was easily one of the things she valued about Ruki, he was the perfect gentleman around her, a rare breed to say the least. After she finished talking she continued to eat her meal and returning the favor of being attentive to what he had to say. "Very true!" she agreed when he mentioned about not being allowed to use magic outside of school. "But not for you for much longer." She said, not completely sure of when her friends birthday was, but it was this year at least.

Taking a sip of her drink Patricia heard her friends question and remained quiet for a minute. She didn't really know the answer to this question and it had been bugging her since her father brought up the fact that she doesn't live in the Styx Manor earlier that day. "Well I love my real mum and my step dad, I grew up with them after all, they are my family." she started off, not quite sure where this was going as she was talking it out as it came to her. "Then again, I will need to get to know my other family at some stage. I've stayed over sometimes, but to live there...Yeah I guess so, the good points over rule the bad points." Patricia had to stop mid sentence, Did I just say I wanted to live with dad and Niccy?! she asked herself, never thinking she would ever say those words. "But I don't know if I could do that to mum, she'd be heartbroken if I moved out to live with dad. Then again, I don't even know if dad would agree to it." she said, completely lost now, it would be something that she'd have to think about more in the near future. "I suppose I'll talk to them both at the holidays. I normally spend sometime at both places." she said, hoping Niccy would be back by then so she would have reason to go to the Styx Manor this Christmas. "What are your plans for the holidays?" she asked as she found herself on the topic.

Almost finished with his food now, Ruki listened to Patricia when she responded to what he was saying. It was often difficult to find someone to have a relaxed conversation with in the school. Smiling as she too realised he would no longer need to worry about breaking magic laws, the young wizard counted the weeks he had left. "A few weeks remain.", he smiled a little more. Would it really be any different in November. After a few moments, Patricia began to talk about living with her father. Taking a drink, Ruki listened to her every word. It seemed t be a small dilemma of who would feel more hurt if the young girl was to move homes. Maybe it wasn't something the young wizard should have mentioned. He would hate to be the cause of worry for his friend. Once she had finished, the sixth year smiled and responded, "It would seem time is all you need.". It was rather true. In a few years time, she would understand more clearly what she wanted in life; and where she wished to live. "I see no reason to give up one family because another has made themselves known.". Ruki hoped he hadn't caused confusion as he took another drink, catching his friends question. "I shall remain at the school this year.", he answered.

"After a fun evening at the ball, I shall not have to worry about packing all of my belongings.", the young wizard chuckled slightly. Not having to go home for Christmas was certainly a good aspect of the school. Last year hadn't worked out so well, with the argument; and the promise to make his parents pay. "My holiday's at home have not been good recently, and with the death of the Auror..", Ruki paused for a moment as he remembered the story. It was still a possibility, to him, that his own parents had been involved. Having stayed at the Half-way House though, he couldn't know for sure.

Even though Patricia had a feeling that Ruki's birthday was close she was surprised that it was so close. In the Wizarding World, 17 was an important age - whereas she was used to it being 18 back at home. Truth be told she was looking forward to being 17, she really wanted to be able to do magic outside of school. She had become used to things being so much easier with it around school that she had come close to using it a few times at home. Also when she turned 17 she knew she would be able to finally tell her best friend in the muggle World about her being a witch, about Hogwarts...everything. It had been so hard for her to keep everything a secret from Briege Anne for the past few years, so she knew it would be a delicate situation, however she would focus on that closer to the time. Having side tracked for a moment she brought her attention back to Ruki. Knowing he was going to be 17 in a few weeks Patricia reminded herself that she would have to do something, or get him a present at least.

Setting down her knife and fork, having pretty much finished her food and no longer hungry, she propped up her arm and rest he chin in her hand to face Ruki. Taking in his words she let her mind go into overdrive. To move in with her dad would be a big step but she knew it would be a good idea and would benefit her greatly if she was to have Niccy help her to become a Healer. It would also help with her general magic skills, if she was to live around it all the time instead of just at school she may learn something useful. At his words Patricia simply nodded, he brought up a good point, but then again only time would tell.

As her friend informed her that he was staying at the school this year she mildly surprised but a lot of people took to stay at the school during the holidays, she herself had done it before but around Christmas she realised she missed her family too much and promised herself not to do it again. "You like Hogwarts that much huh?" she asked in jest, her words laced with a small laugh. When he mentioned about not having to pack she laughed along with him, "Well you can help me pack then!" she said, sticking her tongue out playfully, knowing full well that he couldn't even if he wanted too.

Although Patricia quickly stopped laughing when Ruki told her that his holidays at home hadn't been too good. Her smile slowly began to fade as she looked at her friend, feeling nothing but sorrow for him. She didn't know why his holidays hadn't been enjoyable and she didn't know if she should ask or not. She decided against it, she didn't want to dive into anything too personal for him to talk about. Although if he brought it up himself she would gladly listen. When he mentioned the death of the Auror she was confused how his home life could have anything to do with it, but again decided not to say anything. "I know that was a tragedy." she said, picking up the conversation of the dead Auror. Of course she had heard all about it, it was a big thing and all over the papers. "It's hard to believe that things like that can still happen. I thought those days were long gone." she said shaking her head. Having learned about the dark days of Death Eaters and the like in History of Magic.
