Scarlet Naomi Joussane didn't know what she was doing in this festivity. There was no reason for her to be here. Or there was. It was so her brother would stop worrying about her. After all, she had been refusing to eat quite frequently lately and aside from that, even though she had buried herself with books, her grades refuse to show the same results as her effort. In fact, if possible, they were worse than before she started burying herself in her academics. And so, just to satiate her brother's worrisome nature, she had actually dressed up for the Halloween festivity despite her personal wishes to stay within the walls of the dormitory. But she went along and gave into Justin's wishes and even dressed up in the costume he had given her. A princess costume. For their little princess it seems, though they knew not that the princess they've been cherishing so much had vanished from sight along with her dreams of fairytales.

The Hufflepuff walked into the Great Hall, her face wearing an invisible mask that was known as a smile. Nobody would notice though. Nobody ever seemed to notice after all. She was just a girl in the same class as some people and nobody actually knew her well enough to know what smile is part of a mask and which one is real. Even her brothers seemed to barely be able to tell the difference. She couldn't blame them though. Justin used to be frequently at work, Cris never cared about her until two years ago and Brody was dead. Nobody was left to see through her facades. And so, she merely stayed at one of the quiet sides of the Great Hall and stood there alone. It was not as if she had someone to talk to after all. She'd been avoiding, or at least trying her utmost hardest, Jake and Giuls ever since the incident at the cliffs. And right now, she was left with no one to accompany her. She was right. She really shouldn't have attended this festivity. She wasn't a real princess anyway. And fairytales didn't exist. Especially not to her. She wasn't a princess that any prince charming of the sort would come be with her whenever she needed it. No, that was wishful thinking. Those are dreams of the unconscious and the young. But she felt she was neither.

Jakobe Hitachiin was not going to the Halloween Party. He may have been standing at the entrance to the Great Hall, but he was not going in. There were many reasons why, all very valid according to him, so why should he listen to anyone else? It was true that he had been feeling a lot worse after seeing Scarlet in the Hospital Wing and admittedly, the things he'd said had been a bit of a shock to his system, not that she hadn't had plenty of shocks for him over the course of the exchange. Still it was strange to be thinking about Halloween and being without Scar. He had Giuls, but that didn't count, not really. Sighing, Jake covered his face with his Kitsune mask. His sister had made it for him a while ago and he was happy to be wearing it.

Stepping into the room, it didn't take long for Jake to want to step right back out again. She was there. She was standing near the wall, just doing nothing. Jake frowned. Why wasn't she still in the Hospital Wing? It hadn't been that long ago since she was injured. Whether by Arturo's hand or not, Jake still blamed him. Jake took one long and unassuming look at Scarlet before immediately walking over and standing next to her. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Stunning didn't even begin to describe it. "He-uhm" He realised his mistake and decided to turn it into a clearing of his throat instead. "You look lonely. Why are you not dancing?" The mask over his face obscured her view of him, but she knew his voice, so he did his bert to try and change it. Fortunately voices could change when speaking another language.

Is crap, I sorry :tut:

As Scarlet continued to stand by the wall in silence, she still wondered why people were celebrating and she wasn't. Like seriously, she was currently in the Great Hall with the other students who were actually wanting to celebrate the Halloween festivities, but here she was, just standing by the wall in complete silence and not even interacting with anyone in particular. She really shouldn't have come. And besides, she was sure that it wouldn't be long before her two friends, or should she say ex-friends, would come into the Great Hall to celebrate as well. That isn't exactly something she was looking forward to. She was sure that it would take lot for her to not break down. It already takes a lot to keep it together whenever they're together in classes, she didn't doubt that she could easily lose it right here.

Scarlet didn't really know how to feel about the arrival of a masked stranger. She was quite glad for the distraction, but she felt disappointed that it was neither Jakobe nor Giuliano. She also feels bothered that it was a stranger, she was not much of a sociable person as well. Her circle after was mostly composed of her, the Ravenclaw and the Hufflepuff. So, having another person talk to her was quite a surprising and intimidating situation to find herself in. "There is no reason for me to dance right now," she said calmly before looking and studying the person carefully, gauging if she had any idea who this person is, but upon finding none and only a small sense of familiarity, she decided to warn the person of her incapability to join the festivities to fullest. "I'm not exactly pleasant as company right now, I'm sorry."

Despite it all, Jake had been hoping, maybe a little, that Scarlet would recognise him. He wanted so badly to tell her everything, to make her understand, but he knew that she never would. It was hard and he knew that, but he just couldn't bring himself to be completely separated from her. He needed to tell her, but not tell her at the same time. He nearly sighed, but stopped himself. He supposed he couldn't be too hard on her, he was doing his best to ensure that she wouldn't recognise him despite what he had been trying to tell himself. Of course Giuls would leave him in the lurch like this. He was being such a bad friend right now. He should have been punching Jake in the face and dragging him away. He was not getting a present from Jake this year. Nope.

"There is always a reason to dance. You just need to find it." What was he doing?! She was going to figure it out for sure. This was so stupid, he should be walking away right now. Sitting in his dorm and wallowing in self-pity, talking Giuliano's ear off. Anything that didn't include talking to Scarlet right now. He was going to get himself into some major trouble and he knew it. He nodded when she apologised about being poor company. Like he could complain, it was his fault. "Do you want to talk about it?" He was definitely going down for this one. His parents would never believe him, though that was half the reason he was wearing a mask he supposed.

Scarlet didn't really know how to react to the presence of the stranger really. After all, she wasn't really one to stand out so only quite a few people would notice her presence within the room. And well, most of those people consisted of Giuliano and Jakobe. So, having any other from that little circle was really a rare event. Normally, she would have been shy or nervous about this, but with her current emotional state, she was incapable of feeling such. Rather, she just wanted to find out how to deal with this stranger. Even if he didn't feel like a stranger at all. "I'm sorry. I can't really find one right now." the young Hufflepuff shrugged at the masked person in front of her. And it was true. For what other reason did she have to dance except for happiness which had left her when he left.

Although the presence of the stranger was surprising, his sudden offer to talk about her problems came out as a rather big shock to her. Normally she would be scared and run off. But she didn't, and she had to wonder why. Everything about the masked person was familiar after all, and it wasn't be appearance for she could see no trace of his face except for the smallest of glimpses to his pain-stricken eyes. And with that smallest of glimpse, her lips and voice betrayed her and began to tell him her innermost thoughts. "I just lost somebody important to me. But it's okay, he has his... reasons," Scarlet said softly though she knew not if she was trying to convince him that it was okay, or was she trying to convince herself. She knew the reason, even believed in it, but another part of her didn't want to. She was in a state of conflict, confusion and turmoil. She knew not which was wrong or right, up or down. She didn't even know that she was drowning and going further down the sea of depression.

Jake didn't even know why he had even come over here. To be honest, he probably thought that she would send him away immediately, but, she didn't recognise him. He both wished she did and was grateful that she didn't in equal amounts. Which was more he was unsure, but he was definitely grateful for something. Jake looked away from her when she said that she couldn't find any reasons to dance. She was usually a shy person, that was true, but she would sometimes dance. She was so sad and it was breaking Jakobe's heart. If he thought it would make a difference, he would have told her right then and there, he'd have told her everything. Alas, that was not what was written for them. He was destined to marry some pureblood girl, or die alone. Neither prospect was favourable, but both were possible. For Jakobe, the saddest part had to be her face. She looked so sad and yet so beautiful all at once. She started talking and Jake immediately turned back to look at her. She was talking about him, he was sure. He wanted to reach and out hug her, hold her close and give her the forever that she wanted. However, he couldn't do that, so instead he settled for just talking to her. "This friend of yours... you said that he has reasons? Maybe he was trying to help you?"
