Valeria was very excited about this dance. She hadn't really interacted much with Charlie, before now, but she knew that he was a good kisser, and he seemed quietly confident. Valeria knew this was only going to be for this night and probably no others, but she didn't mind. She wanted to spend the time with him, wow him in this beautiful blue dress, kiss him and then dance the night away. She was getting the last touches of make up on, knowing that he was absolutely outside the common room. The Ravenclaw had gotten her hair cut for this, a little shorter than she might usually go for, but she felt it just matched the dress way better. Valeria stepped out of the dorm room and carefully in her heels walked down to the common room and then out. She spotted him immediately, ”Well, don't you clean up handsomely,” she said, with a warm but flirty tone.

Charlie was a little nervous about tonight, but he'd picked a classic red rose for Valeria. He hoped he looked alright as he waited for her, running a hand over his hair again. He smiled as she appeared and approached immediately, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "Good thing, too, because you're breathtaking," He told her, slipping the rose into her dark hair before offering out his arm for her. "Might I have the pleasure of escorting you to the dance?" He asked, smiling gently.

Valeria moved her cheek as he kissed it, giving easier access to it. ”Thank you,” she replied to his compliment, with a confidence that she knew others would be jealous of. She felt so excited about this dance, and knew she looked beautiful, exactly as she had intended to. She took the rose and tucked it behind her ear before taking his arm and leaning in close. ”Such a gentleman Charlie, yes, let's go,” she replied moving towards the steps. She knew it would take a little bit for them to get all the way down, there were a lot of steps, but it would be worth it.

Charlie smiled and lead Valeria down the stairs, keeping close to her and moving a little slower to allow her more sure steps in her heels. "I'm not much of a dancer," He warned her, a light hearted smile on her face. "But my father made sure I can slow dance like a gentleman," He promised, placing his hand over hers on his arm.

Valeria giggled lightly, "Well, this is good then, because I'm an excellent dancer. I'll keep you right," She assured him, and though she liked to boast about a lot of her talents, she did at least know that this one was true. She had done a lot of dancing before. She gave a little smile, as they continued to make their way down to the hall. "Tell me about yourself Charlie...all I know is you can play violin and can kiss," Valeria thought it would be the way to spend this time.

Charlie chuckled softly. "I'll do my best to follow your lead, then," He agreed easily. At her question he smiled. "Well, those are good things to know, yeah?" He asked with an easy grin. "What else... well, I love sports." He told her. "It was only my father and I growing up, and he's a sports journalist. It's actually how he met my mother. My mother is a champion in several different martial arts, and after dominating the competition circuits for a while she moved on to judging." He mused, a warm smile on his face. "What about you, what's something about Valeria?" He asked, curious to know her better.

Valeria gave a little giggle and nodded, ”The best things to know,” she agreed. Since really being a good kisser was her only qualification when it came to being with a boy. She did listen as he spoke about his family, thinking it interesting. ”Is that why you're on the newspaper here at school?” she had seen his name in the recent issue. ”Oh, me? Well, I'm beautiful obviously,” she had a confidence to her, and one she'd never tamper down. ”And I was born in Portugal. I was homeschooled until third year, when I joined here. Best decision ever, really,” she told him. She wouldn't go into any details about what her parents did or the recent issues they'd been having, or how her family was now torn apart.

Charlie nodded easily. "Yeah, it is. I started with the Quidditch Column then moved up to my music section." He told her. "My own personal spin on the family business." He chuckled. He listened to her as she spoke, taking in the information. "Portuguese, hm? That's pretty cool." He smiled at her. "I'm Finnish, myself. There's really something about knowing your heritage- where you're from- honoring your roots, I love it. My dad makes the best home cooked meals." He sighed. "Though I suppose I'm half Italian- my parents have started dating again, and my mom is Italian. I've been hoping to learn more about her heritage, really." He mused.

Valeria nodded along as he spoke about it. Thinking the move from Quidditch to music was interesting, Quidditch must've been the dad's influence and then music was his own. She gave a little laugh, "Well I'm glad you've found your voice," Val told him. She wasn't too surprised about his roots, given the surname, but she was able to piece that maybe his family had split apart and were now together again. Val couldn't help but be jealous of that, with her family so fractured and broken. "I'm sure your mother is eager to share it with you," Val assured squeezing his arm lightly.

Charlie rubbed the back of his neck, stepping down the last of the stairs and making sure she had steady footing. "Well, it's hard with my mother. She gave me away as a baby, took off, just dropped me on my dad. She came back a few years ago, but she always seems unsure with me. I guess she's trying, but... it's weird." He spoke, but paused both speaking and moving as they drew closer to the doors. He turned slightly, brushing her hair back out of her eyes. "But that's enough of that. Would you like a drink to start, or would you like to go dance? Tonight is all about you," He promised, bringing her hand up and kissing the back of it gently.

Valeria felt a little reassured that his parents weren't perfect either, and thought it really sweet that his father had stepped up. She was still getting letters from her dad asking her to leave all of this behind and join him back in Portugal. She let him hold her in close and smiled, ”let's dance, show me off,” she replied with a little flirty smile. Valeria knew he was being very nice and gentlemanly about it, but Valeria wanted to be shown off, wanted people to notice them.

Charlie chuckled and lead Valeria out onto the dance floor. He put one hand on her waist and took the other in his, leading her in a classic ballroom dance, his quiet confidence shining through as he led her through the steps. He'd made sure to be ready for this- he couldn't just show up with one of the most beautiful girls in school and not have an idea what he was doing.

Valeria let him lead, she could step in if she need to, but Val was sure Charlie had this. She followed with his steps, letting her carry a little flourish but smiling at him the whole time. As the song came to a slow close she put her arms around his neck to pull him into a kiss. She'd wanted to dance and kiss this boy and she'd be damned if she didn't do both.

Charlie smiled, the dance flowed smoothly. He leaned down into the kiss, holding her close for a moment. He broke the kiss after a few moments, catching her chin gently between his thumb and finger. "Shall we dance again? Or would you like something to drink?" He questioned, giving her a gentle smile.

Valeria kissed him as deeply as she could, for the moment that the kiss lasted. She let him break the kiss and then considered it, taking a moment to listen to the song that was playing. ”Let's dance one more time, then drinks,” she said. She was quite keen to dance with him as much as possible, but she knew they'd to drink something, dancing was tiring.

Charlie nodded, starting to lead her in another dance. "Anything you want, darling," He smiled warmly at her, giving her a little twirl. "I can see everyones eyes are on you," He complimented her. "You're the belle of the ball," He drew her back in.
