A Mystery Rose

Pink rose for @Lily Lockwood

Maddy had a few roses for people she knew, which was kind of disappointing, honestly. Part of the point, in her mind, was to meet new people and have the challenge of finding them. Well, she wasn’t going to make all of them easy for herself, but this one made her nervous, so she’d just find Lily at breakfast and get it over with. Totara swooped lazily above her head as Maddy approached the Hufflepuff table. “Hey Lily,” she said, approaching from the side, remembering how she had startled Lily last year. “Got a rose for you!”

Lily looked up as Maddy approached her. "Hi, Maddy," She greeted shyly. "How are you today?" She set her fork down, brows raising. "Wait, again?" She turned. "Do you want to sit?" She offered. How many roses was she getting?

Maddy grinned at Lily, suddenly excited again. "I'm great! Delivering roses is so much fun!" The 'again' comment confused her, so Maddy decided to ignore it. "No thanks, I'd better keep moving." She raised her basket demonstratively. "Lots to deliver." Maybe if she gave this one to Lily quickly she wouldn't have to feel awkward about it for too long. She took the pink rose out of her basket and handed it to her. "There's no note, sorry."
