Lucas had been debating this for a while now, but he'd eventually decided to just go for it. He wanted to take Nikko Blackwood to the yule ball, and he wasn't going to wait around to be asked. He had decided he would do it today, which had resulted in a very bad night's sleep. But now, after Charm's class, Lucas knew he had to take his chance. He made sure to leave around the same time as Nikko did and tapped him on the shoulder. "Uh, Nikko? Can we talk for a second?" He asked, trying to sound cool but failing miserably. "I want to ask you something." He added, though that didn't really make it sound better. He had hoped to ask him in a cool and suave way, but he hadn't thought of how he would have to pull him away from their classmates first.

Nikko had packed his things quickly after charms and was ready to get out of there. He always felt so restless during lessons, like there were so many other things he would rather be doing. But he only made it a few steps before he felt a tap on his shoulder. He smiled when he saw it was Lucas. "Oh hey Lucas, what's up?" he asked brightly. His smile faltered for a second when he asked to talk, suddenly worried he had done something wrong but he tried to remain calm. "Sure." he said with a shrug, acting as casual as possible to hid his growing apprehension. "What is it?"

Lucas felt for a moment like he had spent all his bravery on asking Nikko to talk and had none left to actually ask the question. But he took a deep breath. "I was just wondering, if you... uh," He shifted his feet uncomfortably. "Well, if you wanted to go to the ball with me," Lucas said quickly, feeling his cheeks heat up.

Nikko watched Lucas shift uncomfortably as his own anxiety grew until the other boy finally spoke again. It took a second for him to process what Lucas had even said because it was one of the last things he was expecting. He was quiet for a moment before coming to his senses and smiling. "Yeah sure. That sounds fun." he said quickly, now feeling nervous in a completely different way. He had never gone to a dance with a date before and it seemed a little daunting.
