Halloween had come again and Maya was really excited. She'd never really gotten into Halloween until Hogwarts, but that was still good. Being from Australia, Halloween wasn't really something that she celebrated at home, but she'd since learned that it was actually a wizarding celebration. She'd thought as much from the books she'd read, but still, it was good having all the information right there. She put the last bits of make up on and made sure that everything was in order. She really liked looking her best for these sorts of things. Lastly was a necklace she'd found in the jewellery box her mother had left her. It matched really nicely with the kind of look she was trying to pull off. She's made the dress herself, which was definitely a feat she was proud of. She could do almost anything with her hands, though she still didn't really know what kind of job she might want to get into eventually. Maybe dressmaking, or chef work, something where she could work with her hands. Sitting behind a desk just didn't seem like something she would want to do.
Once Maya was satisfied with how she looked she headed out of the dorms and into the common room where she smiled excitedly at a couple of her friends. Some of them were not going to be attending tonight, but that was fine, not everyone liked Halloween after all. Mostly the muggleborns, the first years. She'd been the same back then, worried that Halloween here was the same as it was in the muggle world. She had to admit that she was glad she learned the truth of that. She'd had to think that the same things that happened back home would happen here. It was really just about ruin everything. Still, she supposed it wasn't al bad, because as she walked into the Great Hall she found herself unable to contain her smile. The room look amazing and so she just stood at the entrance, looking in awe at her surroundings.
