Rose found a quiet, soft patch of grass near the entrance to the Courtyard and steel down, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve. She had been wanting to catch up with Eury for a while now but wasn’t sure how to start, her usual confidence melting away in the face of her own nervousness. She wanted to know if they were giving Heta Omega another shot this year and she hadn't had a chance to ask her over the break, but if Eury wasn't going, then neither was Rose. When she was finally spotted Eury rounding the bend, she gave a small wave, her throat clearly slightly at the sight of her cousin. Now she wouldn't be alone and people wouldn't come and talk to her. “Eury!” she called softly, her voice barely more than a whisper, yet loud enough for her cousin to hear. She gave a timid smile, a little relieved to see her cousin’s familiar face. “I wasn’t sure if you’d want to meet up today… you know, with everything going on…” As Eury approached, Rose felt herself start to relax, the anxiety that had been gnawing at her fading slightly. “Come and sit with me,” she invited, patting the grass beside her.

Somehow, Eurydice had been finding it difficult to meet up with Rose this semester. She didn't know why, especially since the pair of them shared a class, but she supposed it would be difficult to meet up before or after Astronomy. She'd attempted to wait for Rose one time outside of the Common Room only to find Tori instead. And she just didn't like thinking about that interaction. They had finally managed to talk enough to let each other know that they could hang out in the Courtyard. It was with much relief when Eury saw Rose sitting down on the grass. She wasn't much of a fan, but Rose already knew about her preferences so she didn't think it was weird that she'd brought a blanket to sit on. "Hey," she greeted with a grin. "Well, of course I would. I've actually been looking for you the last few days," she explained as she placed a blanket on top of the grass and sat on it. "Do you want to share the blanket?" she asked her cousin just in case even if she looked quite comfortable sitting on the grass.

Rose nodded when Eury offered up the blanket, standing quickly before sitting back on the ground, this time on the blanket. "Yeah, I was expecting things to be this difficult this year, but... I guess now that I have Quidditch practice, it sort of make sense, right?" She didn't want to admit that she was finding the whole thing a little more underwhelming than she would have hoped. Maybe once she had a proper game under her belt, but even then, it would probably be a while since she really had to wait until Teddy was unavailable or had graduated. She didn't mind being an Alternate, because she knew that would be the case going in, she was a Keeper, it's just who she was and she couldn't help that. She just wished she would have the option of playing against her siblings, likes she could back home. Even if her mum was a beater, her Aunt Ai had been a Keeper in school, one of the most important positions next to Seeker. But she could never be a Seeker, she just wasn't Corey. "Why have you been so hard to pin down, anyway?" If she wasn't at classes, and Rose wasn't at Quidditch practice, she would have thought she would be easier to find, but it was almost like she'd completely disappeared lately.

"Congratulations on making the team by the way," Eurydice told her cousin with a grin. The Edogawas were pretty much Quidditch nuts. She wasn't sure it was in the genes since her mum was also one to get excited about Quidditch. She'd played Keeper when she had been a student and even made Quidditch Captain. Two of her older brothers played Quidditch too. As far as she knew though, Uncle Conan didn't do Quidditch, but she'd heard that he was pretty good at a few muggle sports, which was weird. So, really, her cousins didn't stand a chance. "It's going to be confusing - cheering at the games I mean. Of course, I'm going to be cheering for Hufflepuff, but maybe I'll cheer for you if it's not Jonah holding the quaffle. Maybe," she teased as she bumped shoulders with Rose. She didn't quite know how to answer Rose's question though. "I've been staying in the Common Room more," is what she decided to go with. And it was true. Mostly because staying in the Hufflepuff Common Room meant not encountering any Slytherins. Particularly Morrie and Vanity. "I did try asking for you, but I don't get along with your housemates much," she sighed. The only Gryffindor second years she really got along with were Rose and William, and she didn't think that either of them interacted much, which really made it complicated when she was trying to look for one or the other.

Rose was excited to be on the team, she couldn’t deny that, but she wasn’t sure it was as satisfying as she had hoped. It was hard to feel satisfied when she was only there as a cover for Teddy and probably wouldn’t get the chance to play properly until he graduated, which wasn’t for a couple of years, and she supposed that was okay, but she still wished she could have a bit more opportunity to play than as an alternate. Still, she was enjoying all the training and such, and it was nice to be doing something she was familiar with, rather than classes all the time. “It’s okay, I would be rooting for Jonah too, if I’m not playing against him.” Sayuri as well of course, when she’s not playing against her. And since both Jonah and Sayuri are Chasers, when they play against each other, it’s easy to cheer them both on. Since them having the quaffle doesn’t really detract from either side, and she can hope they both make more points for their teams. “I would love to win the international game this year. I don’t think we will, but I can still be hopeful. I don’t think our team is strong enough yet.” She felt like there wasn’t enough cohesion sometimes. It could be easily detrimental. “Oh, well if you don’t know where I am in future, you can ask for Amory from Slytherin, or even Esme from Gryffindor. Esme usually knows vaguely where I am, and I’m usually with Amory.”

Eurydice nodded in agreement and grinned when Rose mentioned rooting for Jonah as well, "He's so cool when he plays, so serious," she giggled, though he really was only cool for as much as a cousin could be cool. He was still her cousin. But Jonah in the air was really different, and they were in the same house so she was definitely going to support him. Speaking of support. "Don't tell Sayuri but I'll only really cheer for her when she's not playing against Jonah or you," she whispered conspiratorially. Sayuri was the cousin that she got along with the least, but mostly because Sayuri tended to veer towards isolation more than Eli did. She couldn't help but sigh as Rose mentioned playing against the international team. It had been Beauxbatons last year, she didn't know which school would be coming this year but it should definitely be interesting either way. "I wish Hufflepuff would play again. I thought the team did well last year even if we didn't win," she liked to think that Hufflepuff had a chance again this year but also, she didn't know much about Quidditch. And she might be a little biased since Jonah and Bailey-nee were both on the team. The grin that made its way on Eury's face as Rose mentioned a certain Slytherin couldn't be avoided. "Amory huh," she said as she bumped shoulders with her cousin. "How did that happen," she asked curiously because even though she'd asked Amory about his intentions, she hadn't actually asked how it all happened. It would be more interesting to hear it from Rose.

Rose agreed with her cousin about Jonah, he sometimes seemed a little down when he wasn’t playing, but like all of them, she thought, herself and Sayuri included, they all thought about their mum on the sidelines as soon as they got on that broom, and how she would not ever tolerate less than one hundred percent of their ability in any game. They always strived to bring their best self to a game, and she thought this was especially true with Jonah. Rose loved watching Jonah play, she found it difficult to look away, the way he moved in the air, it was just better than anything she could do herself in the air. He reminded her of Corey a lot. Even though they played different positions. Sometimes she felt she was limited herself, she knew she was a good Keeper, but what did that even really mean for her? Not much she would think, considering. “I think she knows that,” she said, regarding Sayuri. Jonah would be her priority, they were in the same house, and Rose was almost certain she’s seen Sayuri quietly cheering on Jonah anyway, they all worked best when they were playing together, Rose couldn’t wait to play a proper game against her siblings, but she didn’t know if that would ever happen given she was the alternate to the Captain and he was only a fifth year yet. She didn’t see him willingly giving up his spot easily. It did suck that there were so few games, she felt, it was hard to redeem a team if they only played once. It just wasn’t Hufflepuffs year. She wasn’t sure it was going to be Gryffindor’s year either, she didn’t feel like the team was a strong as it could be, if the training sessions were anything to go by. “There’s still next year.” She offered, leaning back on her hands. She hid her face a little when Eury asked about Amory. “I don’t know really, I guess it might have been an accident… or in the cards you might say.” She said, grinning slightly at her cousin. “He ran into me in the library, I was having a… tough time, a bit. And he made me feel calm. It was nice.”

Eurydice giggled. She agreed. Sayuri did probably already know that she was the cousin Eury supported the least but that was okay. That meant that Sayuri supported Slytherin when they were playing against Ravenclaw. Or Gryffindor if Rose wasn't playing. See? There was still a lot of support to go around. It really was such a shame though that Hufflepuff fell short this year. "Mmm. They're probably already starting to get ready. No one from the starting lineup is graduating so it'd still be the same team. I know Jonah wants to try for a chaser win. Think Hufflepuff could do it?" It was ridiculously hard to get that type of win since the seekers seemed to be ridiculously good. The games barely last long enough for four goals on both sides. Total. The longest was probably last year's final game where both sides scored nearly five goals each. If anyone could do it in their whole Quidditch career though, Eury would like to believe it would be Jonah's team. "It was a surprise, that's for sure," she said with a grin. The first time she'd met Amory was at truth or dare where he ended up with a love confession for William. "He's nice though. I'm glad you have him," she said as she bumped Rose's shoulder lightly.
