It was Christmas which also meant that it was time for the Yule Ball and Calum was quite excited for it. He wasn't a very excitable person but something about spending a full night with Pia all dressed up made him so. The teenager dressed himself in his best suit and tie and walked straight out of the dungeons to meet Pia at the front of the great hall. Thoughts about what she could be wearing began to float through his mind. No matter what she wore he knew she would look beautiful in it but what kind of dress was it? Was it a long dress that touched the ground and made patterns when she twirled, or was it short and simple with a few accessories to make it look appropriate? Calum thought he was glad to not be a girl as he waited for his girlfriend to arrive. Girls always had to do double the work when it came to formal occasions with their hair, nails and accessories and all boys had to do was put on a suit and tie. Nonetheless, Calum tried to make himself look as good as possible tonight and he knew Pia would too.

Pia was nervous for that year's yule ball for many reasons. On one hand she was nervous as she was head girl, needed to uphold a reputation and needed to ensure she would make the most of this celebration as it would be her final one in school, and on the other hand, she was nervous because she was attending with her boyfriend. It was only a few months ago that Pia had ran into Calum at the Halloween feast, feeling confused and worried about his distance and now here they were, attending an event as a couple for the first time. The worst part had been choosing a dress and trying to find a balance between elegant and casual that would be appropriate for her role as head girl but not boring so she wouldn't impress Calum. Pia eventually decided to go with a short, red sequinned dress paired with heels and black stockings, thinking it would be alright and easy to dance in if that was how Calum wanted to spend his time that night. The ravenclaw gave herself one last once over in the mirror, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear before making her way down to the great hall.

She immediately saw Calum waiting for her and smiled wide as their eyes met. He looked great, much like he did when he dressed up for the Halloween feast but this time Pia did not need to hold back any of her words. She walked up to him and stood on her toes, kissing him quickly on the lips. "You look so sweet in a suit." She said after pulling away. In that moment she was tempted to keep her arms draped around his neck, but chose not to as she wasn't sure if it would be appropriate around the student body she was supposed to be a role model for.

Calum's eyes widened when he was finally able to spot Pia amongst the crowd of people already making their way inside the Great Hall. Her dress was unique and was much unlike anything he had expected. In fact, it was much better than that and Calum could not keep his eyes off of it as he watched her approach him. The Slytherin smiled as Pia gave him a kiss on the lips and complimented his appearance. "Can't say you look too bad yourself." he said jokingly with a smirk. He wanted to say much more than that but for now he was speechless. "Want to go inside?" Calum took her hand and without an answer, followed the group of people into the Great Hall, excited for the night ahead of them.

Despite the fact they were on time there were already a large number of people on the dance floor, and with someone as beautiful as Pia, Calum was eager to join them. He continued walking until they made it in the middle of everyone dancing. "I'm not a very good dancer, but I can try if you want?" Calum said in Pia's ear as he began to put his hands on her waist and attempted to go back and forth with the music. He didn't intend on the dancing lasting all night but he still hoped nonetheless that Pia was willing to dance with him just for a little bit.

Pia continued to smile as Calum took her hand, and nodded in answer to his question as she allowed herself to be lead into the hall. They were on time for the night instead of fashionably late, yet the hall was already occupied by couples and friends alike who wanted to make the most of the festivities. The decorations were just as beautiful, if not more so than the previous year. Pia was enamored by her surroundings, looking around to take the sight of the hall in and the sound of the music until she and Calum arrived to the dance floor. Almost instinctively, Pia draped her arms around Calum's neck and swayed along to the music, matching the way Calum's hands moved to her waist. She alternated between staring down at her feet to avoiding accidentally standing on Calum's shoes, and looking at him while she smiled. Dancing was always awkward regardless how much Pia enjoyed it. She tried not to let this thought bother her as she continued dancing with her boyfriend. "Thanks for being here with me. I really appreciate it." She said. Formal events were always stressful for Pia, both in the sense of what to wear and how she should spend her time but she was glad for Calum's company that night. Just being there with him seemed to take all the stress away which was all the Ravenclaw needed after a busy semester.
