Lucy hadn't expected to be nervous, but her heart was racing as she set things up for the tryouts, a low, thrumming nerve she couldn't quite ignore. For the first time she had to stand in front of her team alone, one single Lucy where there had once been two. Their record under her leadership was a long way from Ravenclaw's best, and now hers was the only name under the 'Captain' listing. She hadn't made Head Girl or club leader like her sisters had, but Quidditch was hers, a rare thing that only belonged to Lucy in a family with so many siblings to live up to.

And she was failing. This was the last try, her last chance to get it right, and she wasn't going to waste it. Ravenclaw had to be on top this year, there was no other option. Taking a deep breath in, Lucy filled herself up with as much confidence as she could muster before turning to the team, hoping to strike her usual jovial tone. "Hi guys!" She beamed, trying to stay cheerful as ever. "Welcome to tryouts! I'm the Ravenclaw captain, Lucy Holland, and this year we're gonna put together the best team Ravenclaw's ever had! The other teams won't know what's hit 'em! We have fun here, but we also work hard and this year that hard work is gonna get us a cup!" She hoped the speech had come across as inspirational as it had in her head, but she had her doubts. How had her mum spent so many years giving so many speeches back when she was Minister? Lucy tried to put away her self-consciousness, looking down at the signup list in her hand. "Alright, when I point to you I want you to step forward, tell me your name, and which position you're trying out for!" She beamed, hoping to get this all over with as quickly as possible.

Returning team members must post in tryouts to keep their spot on the team. Alternates must try out again!

First years are not allowed to try out unless there are still spaces that need to be filled. If you have a first year that's interested shoot me a PM.

Lilith had been buzzing with excitement since she’d gotten back to school and given a shiny badge. However she’d also been a bit sad to see the other Lucy no longer there, same as Audrey, knowing the team was changing too was weird. Arriving to the pitch she gave a smile to the remaining Lucy, happy to still have one of them. She gave the older prefect a thumbs up after her speech after which Lilith shot up to just fly around as a target practice for anyone looking to be a beater. She didn’t mind getting hit for the sake of a good tryout, besides she got a few catches in between it all before eventually finishing up.

(OOC: anyone trying out for a beater feel free to gm hitting Lili :r)

Rosé was exceptionally proud of how she'd done during last year's practice session. She'd lost count how many times she'd managed to hit the bludger throughout the session, but she'd been working on her arm strength ever since just so she could increase that number. She knew she was small, and she liked to be able to dart between the other players, zipping out of line from the other beaters and smacking them when they least expected it.

Even though Rosé hadn't had the chance yet to play in a real game, she was very much looking forward to it, even if it did mean that one day that might mean she had to aim for Freddie's sister. With any luck the Hufflepuff wouldn't take it too seriously. "I'm Rosé Glass, trying out for Beater," she grinned at the Captain feeling much more confident about her position than she had this time last year.

Grabbing her bat and hopping onto an available broom, the third year shot into the sky to immediately start scouting for bludgers. She'd trained for this with her friends, and while she was currently struggling when it came to her academic challenges, Rosé found that Quidditch came a little more naturally. It was like she could finally relax, even if the dangers of being knocked out of the air were ever present.

It wasn't long before Rosé found a bludger, chasing after it quickly with one arm raised high. With an almighty crack she flung it straight in the direction of Lilith, who she'd been keeping a close eye on in her peripherals. Lilith had practised with her now on a few occasions, with her and a couple of the older students, and Rosé had appreciated the lengths she'd gone to to help her feel more confident. Therefore she did feel a little guilty as the bludger found its target. She gave the prefect an apologetic smile, before flying off to try to do it again.

At the end of the try-outs, Rosé's arm was once again exhausted although she didn't expect that would ever get too much easier, no matter how strong she was getting. The blonde thanked the Captain and went to take a seat on the benches, watching the rest of the students as they arrived for their turn.

It was Violet's last year of quidditch and honestly she was a little bit sad about it. She also wasn't sure how much time she'd have to practice this semester, but she was definitely not going to miss her last year on the time. She showed up to practice promptly with her broom in hand. When Lilith was done with the formalities, she headed straight up into the sky to challenge the people trying out at the hoops. She blocked a few and let a few in, and by the end of it she was sweaty. She headed back to her dormitory once try outs were over so she could clean herself up before classes.

Hinemoa had known last year that it wasn't realistic to expect to get onto the team in her first year. Her mum had given her more than enough lectures on the subject, so when she hadn't seen her name on the team list last year it wasn't that much of a surprise, even if it was a pretty big bummer. Still, things were different now. She was a second year, and second years got onto teams all the time. She'd had a whole nother year of practice with Mum and Siobhan, and now she was ready.

"Hinemoa Josephs, trying out for Seeker again!" She said, stepping forward with a confident grin when her turn came. She kicked off and soared into the air, unable to help a small laugh of relief as the wind hit her face, cool and familiar. She levelled out her broom when she reached the hoops and began the search, focusing on her surroundings. It took a while, but eventually a flash of gold caught her eye. She remembered from last year that the school snitches tended to be slipperier than the ones she practiced with at home, and kept her focus locked in on the small orb as she shot forwards. It took a bit of zigging and zagging but after putting on a little burst of speed the snitch was within her grasp, and Hinemoa caught it with a triumphant cry. She held her hand high, making sure Lucy had seen her success, before letting the snitch go and returning to the hunt. Two more catches later, Hinemoa felt confident as she returned to the ground, making sure to thank the captain.

Magne was excited for the new quidditch season, and feeling pretty hopeful about their chances. He arrived on the pitch, greeting the captain with a wave and then glancing at all the students about the field, wondering what any of them would bring. He got into the air and began practicing.

After not having done great on his OWLs, Cyrus had considered dropping the Quidditch team. But in the end he couldn't bring himself to do it. He showed up to tryouts, smiling briefly at his roommate. Then he got on his broom and started practicing.

Theo had been an alternate chaser for the team for the last couple of years of him being on the team. He had hoped that this was the year of him being on the team officially. Theo arrived on the pitch as punctual as he wanted to be. He listened to Lucy as she did her spiel and it wasnt long before it was their turn to try out. Theo step forward. “Theodore Harper trying out for chaser!” Theo says happily before flying in the air. He spent his time passing the quaffle to thr other team members as well as supporting team members. He also managed to score a few points while other times he had missed.

Maggie hoped that this would be her year. She had been an alternate for a while now, and since there was a beater spot open up, the Ravenclaw kept envisioning herself as a permanent member of the team. Lucy gave them their instructions, and Magdalene waited until it was her turn to announce herself. "Maggie Grey, trying out for beater," she said confidently but nicely, as her sister had made a comment to her that she could come off a little arrogant with her confidence sometimes.

Maggie kicked off the ground, grasping her broom with one hand and the bat with the other, before she came to a good spot above the ground. She took a moment to gauge who was on the field and what her strategy was. She decided that going after the seeker first was important, and before she knew it, she spotted a bludger nearby. The fifth year raced after it, managing to make contact on her first attempt, and watched as it sailed towards Lilith. She smirked when it made contact and thought that she was off to a great start. She waited for a moment before heading after another bludger, watching as it sailed towards one of the people trying out. Feeling like she was on a roll, Maggie kept at it, managing to hit a few more bludgers, actually at her fellow players during the tryout. There were a few good misses here and there and some bludgers that were easily dodged due to lack of power behind the hit, but overall, the Ravenclaw felt like she did a decent job showing Lucy just how much she had improved over the years. Once the tryouts were over, she headed to the ground and tried not to feel too antsy as she knew they'd have to wait for the results.

Quentin was very excited to be given the chance to tryout as a first year, even if he didn't get a place on the team this year, it was good practice for the future. He approached the captain and said, "Quentin Carew trying out for any position. Whichever is the one I'm most likely to get, I just want to play." He said, mounting his broom and getting up in the air. It became quickly apparent to him that by not specifying a position, he didn't really know where to go. He didn't have a bat to hand for bludgers, and no idea where the snitch was, that it only left the quaffle. He at least tried to look busy on the pitch as he followed the quaffle around hoping to get possession at some point. By the time tryouts ended, Quentin hadn't touched the quaffle was exhausted, even though he felt like he hadn't done anything to impress the captain.

Janus lined up with the other trailists. He knew it was extremely unlikely that he would make the team as a first-year player, but that wouldn’t stop him from trying. Quidditch was a big part of his family legacy, and he wanted to live up to it in his own way, or at least have some fun while he tried.

“Janus Vetrov, trying out for Keeper,” He wasn’t sure if it was his best position; he could also play a mean chaser, but he figured it was his best shot to make the team at some point, or perhaps he’d be back the following year trying something different. Janus took his position between the hoops and spent time trying to save shots from the players trying out for chaser. He managed to save a few; some were easier than others, and if he said so himself, he made some impressive saves. Once his time was up, Janus returned to the ground and placed his broom on the pile of school brooms.

Julio had decided that he was going to try out for the Quidditch team because he was quite certain that his father wanted him to. He'd more or less been forced into participating in the past, and maybe making the team would actually get his father to be proud of him for a change. Not that Julio really thought he would have much chance as a first year, but he was still going to show up and try all the same.

"Julio Santana," he almost sounded bored as he looked down the line at the other students trying out, "I'm trying as a seeker. But I can probably play anything you want. I have in the past." The only reason he liked the idea of the seeker was because he liked the idea of being the centre of attention and being able to be the one to end the games. After his introduction, Julio hopped on his broom and took to the air, careful to avoid bumping into anyone else or ending up on the wrong end of a bludger. Even if he was sure a first year wouldn't make the team, he still wanted to at least put on a good showing for the captain.

He kept his head down as he concentrated on what he was doing, feeling rather pleased with himself as he managed to grab the snitch a few times during his allotted time. His father would probably say he could have caught it more times if he tried harder, but Julio was trying not to think about that. Instead, he landed again and thanked the Captain for letting him try out. After all, that was the polite thing to do.

Last call!! Tryouts closing tomorrow!
