Lilith had all but claimed Eoghan to be her partner on this Transfiguration lesson of practicing turning rats into rabbits. She held the rat in her hands, stroking its hair gently to give it at least bit of love before it was turned into a rabbit. Honestly maybe it'd be a nice size upgrade. "Alright little guy, you'll be fine, do you think Professor Pirrip would let me keep this one? It's kind of cute, though maybe not.. Kuu wouldn't be too happy." It was worth the question though, or so Lilith thought as she set the rat down on a table. "Do you want to try first or shall I?" She asked turning to the blonde for an answer, still keeping her hand on the rat in case it decided to make a run for it though she did disguise the imprisonment as petting it.

Eoghan was not having a good time in his Transfiguration lessons, but he would do what he could to make sure that both he and Lilith passed their exams, and he wasn't going to let the side down. They'd partnered up to practice one of their techniques, and even if it wasn't something Eoghan enjoyed doing, it was still something he could be good at. "I don't think the professor would let you keep anything if there's already not enough to go around," Eoghan mumbled. Of course he had no qualms partnering up with Lilith, but supplies were clearly already running low if there weren't enough rats to go around a small classroom. He nodded in the Ravenclaw's direction, "You can go first," he would practice the spell eventually, but he wasn't exactly in a rush to transform the poor little fella.

Lilith looked at Eoghan and his expression with calculating eyes. He didn't seem a fan of the subject, which honestly while Lilith loved it and saw herself doing it all throughout her years in school she didn't blame him. Sometimes it felt a little cruel transfiguring animals into something else, but it also made her want to be better at it. So that she could do it in a way that made the process for the thing transfigured as painless as possible. "Alright, I'll go first." The Ravenclaw said with a shrug. She had no problem giving it the first go. Turning back to the rat Lilith lowered herself at eye level with it and spoke gently. "Ok, just don't try to run please? I promise I'm not trying to harm you and I'll sneak something for you to snack on tonight from dinner as a thank you. You'll be fine little guy." The rat just stared, without a thought behind its eyes. Well then. Getting back up Lilith focused on the rat and she imagined it as a rabbit. Pointing her wand at the poor little rat she felt a twinge of guilt as she said the incantation. "Cuniculus." Not to her surprise it took a second time for the spell to actually work, it was her first time attempting it after all. Lilith watched closely, eyes filled with wonder as the rat started to take the form of a rabbit. It would never cease to amaze her what all magic could do. As the process was done and a white rabbit sat on the desk Lilith gave it a few pats before turning it back into a rat so that Eoghan could have a go.

Watching Lilith talk to the rat in English was slightly amusing, although maybe it was more so because Eoghan's brain was so full of his classes that right now everything seemed slightly funny. She was talking to the rat as though maybe it would understand her more so than if she were talking Finnish. Then again, maybe it would if the rat was used to a class full of students. As Lilith took her time with the spell, Eoghan was just happy to watch. It would probably take him longer anyway to do the same thing too. Eventually she transformed the rat into the rabbit, and he grinned at her, even if it was only to be able to glance away from how strange it was to see something transforming in front of his eyes. "Well done," he told her, painfully aware that now it was his turn. "You should go again, so that you can do it smoothly," he would take his turn eventually, but given it was Lilith that wanted to be good at Transfiguration, he was more than happy for her to keep practising first.

Giving an odd look to Eoghan Lilith nodded, happy to go again but before she focused back on the task she spoke to the boy while staring at the rat. "You know if you don't like the subject you don't need to take it." She had noticed the subtle signs of discomfort in her boyfriend every now and then. How he didn't like to look at the rat transforming into a rabbit. Besides wasn't the whole point of electives that they could take lessons that they wanted or enjoyed or in some cases needed for future careers? She wasn't all that sure Eoghan did any of those. Focusing fully on the rat again Lilith repeated her process, without the talking this time though and then said the incantation confidently. "Cuniculus." This time the change started instantly and the Ravenclaw smiled proudly to herself. "Why's you take Transfiguration anyways? I know some of the electives you took for the sake of what you want to do in the future but where does Transfiguration fit in that picture?" Honestly it was a genuinely curious question.

"I know," Eoghan replied, not looking up to meet her gaze. He was more than aware he could drop something if he wanted to, but that was just it. He did have reason for taking this class for the time being, and he didn't need Lilith to tell him otherwise. He knew she was trying to be supportive, but in that moment it just felt as though she was giving him permission to work on the things he enjoyed more. He nodded as Lilith turned the rat into a rabbit much quicker this time, before trying it for himself. It took a little time for the third year to transform it too, and watching the rat turn into a rabbit in front of his eyes was never an easy feeling, he couldn't imagine what it was like for the creature, and Eoghan didn't even like animals. Eoghan was surprised to hear Lilith asking him why he'd taken Transfiguration, given that he hadn't exactly been obvious about his distaste for the topic, but he wasn't going to lie to her. "I didn't want it to be the only subject I didn't take, especially when it's your favourite." He'd thought long and hard about those he wanted to go for, and while he had a reason for each and every one, it would have been strange to leave out the class that was most important to his girlfriend. "However, before you say anything," Eoghan continued, turning the rabbit back into a rat, "I'm aware I don't need to be doing it, and I shouldn't be taking it for your benefit." Eoghan was half convinced Lilith would jump to the conclusion that it would be better if he dropped it if not just because she wouldn't feel guilty for him taking something he didn't enjoy. "I'll drop it if and when the time is right."
