Rosalind felt dignified. Her costume was beautiful, and this time instead in a more renaissance-style dress. She was so pleased when her aunt had offered to buy it for her. She strode into the halloween feast with her head held high and looked around to see if anyone was admiring her as much as she had admired herself. A girl could only hope.

Rosalind made her way to the spooky tent, peering in and looking at the dark inside with a smile on her face. She actually hadn't properly explored before and she wondered what the contents were like. The Gryffindor in her was intrigued and confident, but the sub-emotion of nervousness ebbed in the background. Was she brave enough to enter?

Coming to the Halloween feast dressed as a farmer was probably cheating when you actually lived on a farm, but Susie was too pleased with herself to care. All she'd had to do was throw on a shirt, some dungarees, and a straw hat, and she looked exactly the part. Best decision ever. Sipping pumpkin juice from a skull-shaped mug, she wandered toward the spooky tent. A girl in a green dress was already standing by the opening, peering into the dark - what lay beyond that, Susie couldn't see. To be honest, she wasn't really looking at the tent. That girl was beautiful. Like, wow. Her dress, her hair, her jewellery - she was literally perfect.

An overzealous zombie suddenly bumped into Susie, who in turn bumped into the girl in the dress. By sheer luck she managed not to spill any pumpkin juice, but she nonetheless launched into apology. "I'm so sorry - ohmygosh, you look amazing - sorry - someone bumped into me, and I bumped into you - I love your dress - sorry, am I in the way? Oh, jeez." If one of those kids with the big axes could just come and hit her over the head, that'd be great.

Cyrus had been proud of his costume at first. It hadn't been easy to make, though his parents had done the spellwork. But now that he was walking through the throng of students wearing a jacket that was basically a flashing sign, he felt like he stood out a bit too much. Cyrus wasn't nearly as shy as he had been as a kid, but he still didn't love drawing attention like this. He felt relieved when he saw two girls he recognized, moving over to Rosalind and Susie quickly. It would be nice to be part of a group. "Hey." He said with a nervous smile. "Wow, Rosalind. Your dress is beautiful." He told her, then he quickly turned to Susie. "Your costume's really nice too." He said quickly, not wanting to sound like he was excluding her.

Rosalind wasn't expecting being bumped into and turned around quickly to find a very apologetic girl - maybe she was a bit younger because Rosalind didn't recognise her from her year. Rosalind was a bit overwhelmed, hearing praise as well as apology, but eventually she recovered herself and gave a smile. "Don't worry about it. At least you didn't get any juice on my dress," she said with a slight laugh. "And thanks for the compliments. Your costume's cool too!" Rosalind then noticed Cyrus - or rather, Cyrus' clothes. "Whoa, how'd you do that, Cyrus?" she said, her attention switching over. She always got a little excited when Cyrus was around - he was a poet and that was supremely cool.

"I mean, it was close," Susie said. She quickly finished her juice, in case she was about to bump into anyone else. "Oh! Thank you. Actually, it's not really a costume, I already had all - Cyrus! Wow, you are bright." Susie shielded her eyes theatrically, leaning back. "Did you come as a migraine? I love it!" The broad grin said she was only teasing, really - and she wasn't done yet. "Gee, thanks - glad I look nice. But I guess I can't compare to Rosalind. She's a real doll, huh? Hey - are you guys going in? I am."

Cyrus smiled appreciatively when Rosalind complimented his costume. He was glad she liked it. "Thanks, my dad helped." He said, adjusting the jacket a little. He grimaced a little as Susie asked if he came as a migraine, he had worried it might be too bright and this wasn't really helping. "A rainbow, actually." He nodded. "Let's go in together as a group?" He asked, mostly looking over at Rosalind for her thoughts.

Rosalind faintly blushed. A real doll? It was a funny turn of phrase but it was flattering nonetheless. She wasn't sure what to make of Susie's comment to Cyrus. She assumed since he didn't appear offended that it mustn't have been meant as an insult to call his costume a 'migraine' so she decided to let it go. "Sure, I was just about to go in myself! I wonder what's in there?" She took a step forward, her Gryffindor side coming out as she told herself she was supposed to be the brave one. A skeleton that she'd thought was going to remain stationary suddenly moved, jangling realistic-sounding bones with alarming bright eyes and making a comical noise. Rosalind laughed at it, having jumped slightly from the noise. It entertained her.

Susie was pretty proud of that joke. Why wasn’t Cyrus laughing? He looked exactly like a migraine aura. Oh well - not everyone could be as funny as her. She still liked him anyway.

They were going in. Susie followed after Rosalind, shamelessly using her as a bit of a shield. It was dark inside, but glowing pumpkins and skulls illuminated bits of other decorations - just enough to make you worry about the bits you couldn’t see. Susie let out a shriek as the skeleton burst into life. It wasn’t that scary, but when else was she allowed to scream and not get told off? She might as well make the most of it.

Rosalind flinched at the scream, more than the actual jumpscare. She put a hand over her heart and let out a breath. She then turned to Susie. "You sure have some lungs on you!" Rosalind commented. "Are you alright though?" Rosalind double-checked. "Not too scared to keep going? Hey, Cyrus, hurry up!" she then called out to Cyrus.

Cyrus followed Rosalind, jumping as a skeleton suddenly moved. He stumbled a bit, but righted himself. He was about to say something, when Susie started shrieking like she was being murdered. He watched her with wide eyes, then nodded as Rosalind called. "Right, coming!" He called, moving over to them. "You okay?" He asked Susie, wondering if she had ben really scared.

Susie grinned. Her lungs came in pretty useful sometimes - like when she had to yell 'DUCK!' at her teammates. In this confined space, however, she could admit it was probably a bit much. "Oh, I'm great," she said. She was glad for the low light, because her cheeks suddenly felt quite hot. Was she blushing because Cyrus asked her if she was all right? Or because Rosalind did? She kept telling herself she had a crush on Cyrus, but...

"What's in here?" she said, quickly passing through another flap into an area lined with standing coffins. Oh, no. Something was definitely jumping out of one of those. Looked like they had to walk past them, though. She turned back to the others. "Yeah, that's a no from me. One of you guys go."
