Sixth Years, Lesson Two

"Today sixth years, you'll be learning the spell Incarcerous," He said as he motioned to word on the board. "Can anyone tell me, what this spell does? Let’s see who did the reading for this week." He asked, with a smile. He picked on a student. They answered with thankfully the correct answer, "It conjures ropes, to bind someone." Professor Haden smiled at the kid, before continuing for them. "Or something, let me show you." He said, before, pulling the wand from inside his suit trouser pockets and making a dummy appear from behind the chalkboard.

"Like, with any spell imagining in your head what you want to happen, will help with the success of the spell. Especially in the beginning" He intoned the word Incarcerous firmly, and a mass of thick ropes appeared out of nowhere, wrapping about the inanimate object tightly. He turned to face the students once more. "As you can see, using this spell on objects that do not move is much easier than something that is moving. This spell is quite useful for duelling purposes- and of course, when you want to catch something and detain it. However, while at school, the spell should only be used for supervised duelling purposes. With the exception very possibly of prefects using it on those first years who run around hyped up on sugar." He said, The spell was not to be used lightly. It wasn’t a joke, it wasn’t friendly. He wanted students to know that unless it was a duel being watched by a professor.

"Enough of me," He continued. He waved his wand, and many more dummies appeared. "Push all the desks away and practice! If you don’t get it the first time, try again. If you have any problems raise your hand and I’ll come to help." He said, taking a seat on his desk and sipping his tea as he watched the students practice. "Once you feel you have perfected it, you are welcome to leave. And your homework, before you all rush out of here, is to read the chapter in your charms book on the disillusionment charm."

RP the lesson. Points for answering the question.

Teddy was excited to learn the Incarcerous spell because he wanted to try it out in the next dueling tournament, but Professor Haden suggesting that they could also use it on hyper first years was giving him even more ideas. He watched the demonstration first, then when the desks were pushed aside and dummies put out, Teddy practiced for himself, "Incarcerous" he cast, pointing his wand at the dummy. The same thick ropes the Professor Haden had produced, emitted from Teddy's wand and wrapped around the dummy tightly. "Cool" Teddy commented, now he just had to find some hyper first years to practice on next, which shouldn't be that hard.

Lucy entered the classroom, eager to learn a new spell. She'd thankfully done her readings, so when the professor chose her to answer the question she readily replied, "it conjures ropes, to bind someone." She was pleased to get the answer correctly. She paid close attention to the demonstration then attempted the spell for herself. She actually found it a little difficult at first - maybe she wasn't imagining it properly, or something like that, but it took her a few tries before the ropes appeared. She practiced it a few times just to check it wasn't a fluke and found she'd gotten the hang on it. Noting down the homework, Lucy then went on her way.

The rope spell was not something Aura was terribly interested in learning, she had a funny feeling it would be used for purposes other than what it should be used for but who was she to complain, honestly? Professor Haden had seemed a decent professor last year, the kind of chill sort of person she wasn’t surprised to see around for a long time - she’d heard he’d been at the school forever, and honestly she wasn’t all that surprised if she was honest. She practiced the spell, contemplated shooting it at Teddy just for a laugh, but then didn’t actually do it because she would probably get into trouble. After the lesson was over, and she’d mastered it, she headed out of the class.

Callie walked into the charms classroom and took her spot in the room. Her gaze moved towards the professor at the front of the room as the man got started on the spell they would be covering. She nodded along, taking a few notes but the professor quickly had them moving the desks and he summoned dummies for them to practice on. She did the spell a couple of times before it worked but then got better and better at it as she did it.

Enoch walked into the charms classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He glanced at the professor as the man got started, and just nodded along, the lecture itself wasn’t too long thankfully and soon enough he was able to practice the spell. He took his wand and pushed desks aside and then faced off with one of the dummies. ”Incarcerous,” he had to cast it a couple of times before he was able to get it and then be done with the lesson.

Friday walked into the charms classroom and took her spot in the room. Her gaze moved to the professor at the fornt of the room as he got started. She nodded at the spell that they would be doing, and then after a short explanation they were allowed to just get started on it. Friday took her wand and practiced the spell over and over again until she had it, and then a little more. She headed out of the room the moment that she could.

Dominic's first week had gone quite smoothly and he was happy with all of the classes that he was taking. Some of it was boring, but the hufflepuff just tried his best to stay positive that he would get through it all. He only had a couple more years at Hogwarts and he had to make the most of it and try his best to stop worrying so much, because he knew he would get through it. He headed to his classes for the week.

Dominic greeted the professor as he entered the charms classroom. When he sat down, the professor went straight into teaching them about Incarcerous, which would summon ropes to bind someone. The Hufflepuff didn't know when he would need to use this spell in his life, but he did as the professor said, taking out his wand once the chairs and tables were pushed to the side, and pointing it at a practice dummy. He imagined it happening before saying the incantation. It took a couple of tries, and eventually it worked, despite not being as strong and tight as the professor's. He headed to his next class once dismissed.
