It was weird knowing that their family now consisted of more than just sisters, their mama's latest pregnancy had been twins and she had finally gotten the boy she so desperately wanted. Something about the way the woman looked at her only son broke Hera's heart into tiny pieces. Not for herself but for her younger sisters, especially Nia who'd never gotten much recognition beyond reprimands from their mum. Hera walked down her school's hallways, mind racing with everything that had happened during holiday and that was to happen now in her new school year. She'd entered the second to last year of her schooling here and the Wampus wasn't quite sure how to feel about it.

Hera spotted a girl from her year ahead of her, she also vaguely recalled her being in the Quidditch team. Not that Hera cared for the sport much, but she figured it'd make a good conversation starter? "Hi, you are in our school's Quidditch team, right?" The brunette asked as she caught up to the blonde. Having only transferred to the school last year she'd been far too caught up with her studies to truly make any friends, but this year would be one for new connections.

Kit grabbed her quill off the floor, having dropped everything in her hands for no particular reason. Sometimes she just dropped things, which was never good when her hands held a quaffle. The captain gathered up a few other odds and ends when she heard someone speaking to her. Confused, she turned around and smiled at her classmate. She didn't know the girl well, but she thought her name was Hera. "Yeah, I'm captain," she said, looking at the girl. "Why, you looking to try out this year?" she asked curiously. It wasn't the first time someone had come up to her regarding it, but usually, they just showed up on the field. She was still in shock that she had been captain for a year already and got to do it again.

Hera gave a smile and shake of her head, "Gods no, not my cup of tea. I was thinking though I do like to take pictures and I was wondering if it was okay to maybe sometime pop by the practice to take some pictures of the team?" She asked sheepishly. It would be cool to just watch the practice too. "I have a few sisters who love Quidditch, well more like one of them does. I think they'll go with my other sisters to New Zealand eventually but would be nice to show them some photos anyways of my school's team." She explained awkwardly, it'd be a nice memory for her too of her school years. "Ah sorry, I'm Hera by the way, you were Kathryne, right?" The brunette introduced herself, suddenly remembering she'd ambushed the captain out of nowhere forgetting to be polite first.

Kit was surprised that the girl was interested in taking pictures. She wondered if she worked for the yearbook or was just looking to get action shots. The nice thing with magical photos is that most of them were action shots anyway. “Uh, sure. Are you working on a project or something?” she asked, trying to get specifics. “We just had tryouts so it may take a minute to be in a place to get some good shots depending on what you want,” Kit suggested.

She was a little taken aback when the girl started talking about New Zealand but tried not to interrupt her. “Hera, right. Yeah, I’m Kathryne, but most people call me Kit. Also sorry, back to your sisters - did you say they go to school in New Zealand? My cousins go there… even though they’re American,” she said, a little saddened at the end of her statement. She had been so excited a few years ago to find out she wasn’t the only witch in her family (besides her mom), but her aunt and uncle seemed to be too afraid of people finding out about their “quirky” daughters - as her uncle as had said one time - and shipped them off to a different country. Kit would have much rather preferred to have them go to school with her, but it was obviously out of her control.

Hera gave a shake of her head at the question about working on a project. "Not really, though I figured I'd see if they needed help with the yearbook, but I mainly just want to get some action shots." She explained, she didn't talk a lot about her hobby because people were usually more interested in her academic success than her love for photography, but as the captain offered an option where she might get some good shots Hera nodded with a smile. "That would be great, I have never taken any pictures of any sports but I have been kind of dying to have a try, figured that going to our teams practice might be the safest bet."

Hera's brows pulled closer together at the mention of her sisters and Kathryne's cousins apparently all attending the same school. "Yes, my oldest sister Mania started last year and now second oldest Gaia this year." She explained, feeling the hollow ache of missing her sisters even stronger now. "How come New Zealand then, no offense it just seems very far if here was an option too?" Hera tried to not be too intruding but she was curious. "I was at Beauxbatons up until last year when I transferred here, for some reason my sisters went off to New Zealand. Mania said something about not wanting to always have me hovering around her and well I suppose the rest are following now." She could hardly blame the girls and to be honest had Mania attended the same school as her Hera didn't want to think how her own schoolwork would have suffered.

Kit was glad to help Hera out with the photos, especially if it made the team look good. She was a little worried after their loss last year to Beauxbatons that she wouldn't make captain again, but it seemed like having an off time was okay with their professors. Kit, on the other hand, had studied hard in hopes that the team would really shine this year.

Kit was surprised to hear about how Hera and her sisters had separated. It seemed odd, but then again, magic folk were always transferring around to different schools if they could according to her mom. She supposed if you didn't have to travel like a muggle constantly, moving might not be as daunting, especially if you didn't have family. "Oh, well, uh, I don't know the full answer, really. But my cousins are technically muggleborns, I guess, and their parents didn't want too many of their friends asking questions... or so I heard when we were eavesdropping a few years ago," she laughed, "but I guess there are some muggle boarding schools in New Zealand that fancy people go to. And they're kind of fancy so it's all worked out so far." She wondered if that was too much information, but she didn't think Hera would particularly care that much. "So, did you grow up in France?"

Hera supposed that made sense if they were muggleborns that staying in the states for school would have raised far more questions and far more difficult to answer ones than shipping them off to New Zealand. Still she wondered whether it had been all the parents choice or if they had any say in it. "Ah that makes sense, a lot more than me and my sisters splitting up probably." Hera said with a small laugh. It was interesting finding out more about the people she went to school with, last year she'd been too focused on settling in to truly try and make friends so it was refreshing. "Oh no, I am originally from Greece, my family has some family estate there we stay at most of summers and then at some point my parents decided living in just one place was boring and started bouncing around. So I have lived a bit here and there, mostly around the states and Europe though." She tried to explain the complicated situation it had been as clearly as she could, but it always sounded so stupid when said out loud. It had all started with them moving around with her fathers work things but then staying at a place for months at a time grew boring for her parents and months turned into weeks, home turned into something you'd dream of having instead of always being on the move.
