🌹 Rose Giving Returning The Gesture

Sybil wasn't sure how she was supposed to have time to have lunch with all her deliveries to do. But as she checked her list she almost wanted to kick herself for not checking though it earlier. She had spoken to Jasper earlier that day and wished she had known she had a rose for him then and it could have saved her some time. But at least she knew who she was after and she quickly found him. "Jasper!" she called out and waved her hands to get his attention.

Jasper was in the Great Hall when he noticed Sybil was waving to him and calling his name. This was great, clearly after their chat and rose delivery they were now best friends. "Sybil!" He called back cheerfully and heading over to her. Was offering a hug too far? He thought maybe yes but he had his arms out a little wider than usual just in case.

Sybil was relieved when Jasper came to her. That made things easy. But as he approached her he held out his arms and she paused not sure what he was trying to do. She stared for a moment and realized he was offering a hug. She stood with her mouth open to say something before shrugging and accepting the gesture. "Um, ok." she mumbled as she put her arms around him for just a moment before pulling away. "I have a rose for you." she said quickly as she remembered what she had called him over for. "Here you are." she said after grabbing a yellow rose and is accompanying note.

For once Jasper's social cue had been correct and they were hugging. He wrapped his arms around her for a moment then when she pulled away, he pulled away too. He chuckled when Sybil said she had a rose for him, "That's funny because I delivered one to you earlier. Thank you!" He took the rose and read the note. He had to stop and read it twice to make sure his brain wasn't malfunctioning. He wasn't really understanding what it meant. Tori was the person Jasper played gobstones with most, she was VP of the Gobstones club and he wasn't sure he felt comfortable banning her from playing a game. All this was rushing through his mind that he almost forgot Sybil was right there. He glanced back at her. "Um, would you like to play gobstones sometime?"

"It is funny isn't it." Sybil said as she laughed with Jasper about the irony of their situation. She wondered if this happened a lot with so many roses being exchanged. "You're welcome." she said sincerely. "It was nice to return the favor." She watched with some mild curiosity as he read his note at seemed a little confused by it. She was wondering if he would say something about it but instead she asked her to play gobstones. "Oh, sure." she said with a surprised blink. "That sounds fun. I don't have any of my own. Is that ok? I'm more into chess." she asked with a sheepish chuckle.
