Roses have thorns

"I see...you had practiced really well then.. you see, in my case, it was my father who taught me.." Nathalie said smiling sweetly, watching as the girl levitate some books around her. It kind of entertains her, seeing her perform those things even though she herself, was perfectly capable of doing that as well.
OOCOut of Character:
Hey, I just want to inform you that nathalie's application to be a part veela had been accepted.. :D after such a long wait too.. :D

Amelia smiled at her. "My father would tell me that i don't need to practise out of school, i only need to practise in school because i would pick it up. He never cared about my education." She said casually, feeling annoyed at her father for not being the caring type that Nathalie had. She pulled the books back and placed them in the proper spot, looking around the room for something else to do. She didn't usually get bored quickly, but for some reason today, she just couldn't decide what to do. "Do you have a boyfriend?" She asked Nathalie, wondering if the girl did, what with being so pretty. She had some boys in mind that she could introduce her too, that she thought Nathalie would get on well with.

(OOC: Im really pleased for you :D i think there was such a wait because of the sorting and transfers etc... :D )

"Well, my father had taught me, not because he cared, but rather, I think it's because he wanted me to be a daughter whom he can present to all his colleagues, one who is a pretty much perfect daughter..." Nathalie said wistfully, feeling a little sad about talking about her father. When Amelia asked whether she had a boyfriend, Nathalie cannot help but blush. "A boyfriend? No, I...I don't have one.." She said, stuttering a little as she tried to keep her self calm.

Amy smiled. "Well, i think that i know someone who would suit you. Would you be interested?" She asked, having the perfect person in her mind. Her cousin Jack. He was kind, good-looking (being a half-veela as well), and he cared about everyone. He was the one who picked Amy up when she ran away, he cared for her when she needed protection and he never asked for anything in return. He was just generally amazing in Amelia's eyes and she when she thought about Nathalie and him, she felt good. It meant a lot for her to suggest it, for she was protective over Jack and found it hard when he had other girlfriends, so for her to offer this to Nathalie, it was a strong sign of friendship. She smiled again at Nathalie. "My cousin Jack." She added, knowing that Nathalie wasn't the sort of girl to agree to going out with someone on the spot, whom she didn't even know a name, age or anything about him. If she was interested, Amy would explain, but if not, Amelia wouldn't waste her breath.

(OOC: Sorry, i just really enjoy rping with you and i thought they would get along :D )

Nathalie blushed a few shades of red when she heard Amelia's statement, she didn't really expect too hear that from her. "Someone? uh...sure?" She said with a rather doubtful tone. Sure enough, her parents had arranged different dates for her, but it was the first time that a friend had actually offered one. She feared that she won't be able to entertain whoever it was that Amelia was offering to her, nevertheless, since it was Amy, Nathalie knew that the guy whom she was talking about was probably really nice if she said that he would suit her. "Your cousin? well.....what's he like?" She then added softly, a bit interested, well, if they would not work out, then there's still a chance for her and Amelia's cousin to be friends.

Amelia smiled at Nathalie's willingness to give it a go. "Jack? Well, he is good looking. Being also part-veela like us, he is very caring. When i first ran away, even though he is only 2 years older than me, he took me in and cared for me like a little sister. I can't really describe him. He isn't this 'soft caring boy' that some people imagine. He would take a curse for anyone, but would also send one back." She said, trying to describe Jack in the way that he cared, but he could be dangerous and deadly if someone got on the wrong side of him. "Its not good to get on the wrong side of him, because he is very skilled in magic and would easily duel the best of wizards. He is 18 and goes to Durmstrang. He is in his final year there." She said, trying to think of any other points that would be relevant for her to know.

Nathalie listened attentively as Amelia talked about her cousin. It seemed to her that the two was really close, and from the description given to her, she can say that this Jack is a really good guy. "You're really attached to him aren't you Amy? That's good." Nathalie said, smiling gently at the girl. "It's too bad that he's from Durmstrang though, we wouldn't be able to meet each other then..." She then added, albeit a little sad. From what she heard, Jack seemed like a really nice guy, but she knew that given the circumstances, it would be quite hard for the two of them to meet.

Amy smiled and nodded quietly. She looked up in shock at the latest words that came from Nathalie. To be honest, she hadn't been expecting her to give up so quickly. She raised her eyebrows at him when an idea came upon her. "I could send him a letter. He lives in France and will be visiting his parents soon, so if you can get away from your parents for a day or two, i could arrange a meeting." She said, a plan forming in her mind now. She wondered if Nathalie's strict parents would let her go away for a while, but if she could convice Nathalie not to mention a boy, she guessed it would be ok.

"They'll probably let me, especially if they knew that it was a girl that I am going with..." Nathalie said with a thoughtful smile. Her parents would surely allow her if she told them that she'll be meeting up with Amy, but once she told them that she'll be meeting with a guy, she wasn't really sure if they will.
Sorry, this is really lame

Amelia smiled at this girls attitude. "Ok then, i will write to him and arrange it." She said, pushing the memory into her mind so she wouldn't forget. "A girls weekend away then." She said, thinking of how fun it would be to have some company. "What will you want to do?" Amy asked, thinking of things they could do. They could go to a spa, go shopping, relax, flirt around, go to a pub. But, Amy really wasn't sure how far Nathalie would go with her. She wanted her to relax, to have fun, but she doubted that she would be able to push their weekend that far.

Nathalie just smiled in appreciation to Amelia. She didn't really know what to say, she after all, was still too deep in thought. There was so many what if's. What if she messed up? What if her father discovered her plan? What if Amelia's cousin wouldn't like her at all? Nevertheless, she decided to think positively, it's just friendship after all. "What do I want to do? Anything really, I mean, it's my first time to out with a friend, so I'm not really sure about what to do.." Nathalie said, blushing a little.

Amy smiled and shrugged. "We can do anything. Have you ever been to a muggle pub? They are great fun. Full of people and weird tasting drinks. Or we could go to a spa?" She said, laughing lightly at the idea of Nathalie in one of these pubs. There were always nice people around, even if they were surrounded by drunken idiots. After a few years of travelling, she had found the best places to go in towns, and knew quite a few people. She would arrange to meet Jack in Paris, where the pubs and hotels were best. One of her good friends, James, whom she had known for ages, would be interested in meeting one of Amy's friends. He was a muggle and didn't know about magic, so it was funny to watch him wonder at the beauty of a half-veela. "Spa's are relaxing and good for beauty, not that anyone with veela blood would need it." She added, wondering where Nathalie had been and what sort of places would appeal to her. Amy tended to stay out of wizarding places when she travelled, for she found them strange and dangerous. Most of the people there were more advanced in magic than she was and she saw them as a threat, where as the muggles were harmless in Amelia's eyes.

"A muggle pub? What's that place like? I haven' really been to one just yet.." Nathalie asked, eyes full of curiosity. It was, after all, the first time that she had heard of such a place. Nathalie, despite being 15 and so, had never really felt like the teenager that she is. The only place where she would go, aside from school, is the shopping district. It's a way for her to relieve stress. Other than that, there's none. Well, her family does go to some other places as well, high class restaurants and hotels, that's all. "A spa, I agree with you, I don't think we need to go there, but if you like, then sure, why not?" She then said, spas are sure to be relaxing, but she had had enough of that place actually, her mother would often go to one, they even had their own spa at home, customized to be one that fits their lifestyle.

Amelia smiled. She had got the expected response. "Don't worry. They are roughly the same as normal pubs, but instead they don't use magic and they have different types of drinks." She said, trying to explain it, but failing at the same time. She nodded about the spa, it was a normal girly thing that she liked to do, finding it relaxing and there was always good gossip there. She laughed slightly, thinking of what the muggle owners would make of them going there. She knew them quite well, for she had visited it a lot and they owned a branch in her parents hotels, so there was always room for more people in the spa if Amy would ask. "I can write to Jack and ask him to meet us somewhere, but first i think we should have some time enjoying freedom together." She said with a smile, honoured that she had been allowed to take Nathalie out to really see the world, not just through another person's eyes.

Nathalie cannot help but to blush when Amelia talked about pubs for honestly speaking, she haven't been to one yet. "What's a normal pub like?" She said softly, unsure of herself. She knew that she sounded a little stupid and innocent, but she haven't been able to go out lately, all school stuffs and no hanging out with friends. "I'm sorry for being naive.." She added, smiling apologetically at the girl.

"Oh, I do think that you are right, thank you for your kindness Amy.." She said, she really appreciated the friendship that she had with the girl. She seemed to be able to understand her, and Amy had been one of the fews who had tried to show her what the real world is like, what it's like to have at least some fun.

Amelia raised her eyebrows despite herself. She hadn't really wanted to come across as surprised at this comment, for she had guessed that it was coming. But still, it surprised her. "Well, there are normally people playing gambling games. There are a few drunk people. It is basically a large room with a few tables and chairs, and then there is a long bar where people sit and drink and flirt with other people." She said, winking at Nathalie despite herself. She knew that her cousin disapproved of Amy going to a pub, but after a few visits, Amy had quickly learnt the ways of how things went about and what to do. She smiled at Amy, not wanting to put her off though. "And on some nights, there are discos. Where lots of people get up and dance to loud music." She added, not wanting Nathalie to have to mention not knowing what a disco was. She didn't know if this would be the case or not, but she decided to stop putting her friend in awkward situations by accident, if she could.

"Just like some sort of a casino? only that thing is for gambling only.. I didn't know that there was such a place Amy, do you often go there?" Nathalie said, asking a seemingly innocent question, she finds it rather amusing to know that there were such a thing in which people would just sit around, drink, and flirt, she couldn't even imagine herself being in such a place. "Discos.. like a ballroom hall? That I can understand Amy, I do happen to like dancing, I do ballet you know." She added with a smile, remembering the feeling of dancing once again, she haven't done that for quite a long time already after all.

Amy smiled. "Kind of like a casino, some people gambol, but on strange things so i would keep away." She said warningly. She hadn't ever taken part in one, knowing the strange bets placed and mainly what the winners asked for. "Not often, but when i am around. I know quite a few regular people there now, so im safe." She said smiling and her tone returning to its normal warm one that sounded like the chiming of bells. She smiled at the idea of Nathalie doing Ballet in the middle of the dance floor at a pub. "Disco yeh, but not like a ballroom. More like a strange form of hiphop." She said, smiling at Nathalie and giving up trying to explain it. "You would get on well with my cousin if you like ballroom. One year, when some schools got together, he was taught how to dance and wouldn't miss an opportunity to practise with someone other than me." She said, smiling at the memory. Normally, she wouldn't be able to dance to save her life, but being a part-veela gave her a little advantage with smoothness of steps and she now could dance reasonably well after Jack's patient teaching.

"Strange things? if you said so, then I better get away from it as well.." Nathalie said, tilting her head on the side a little, she didn't really get what the girl meant by saying that people on pubs do gamble about strange things, she didn't really like the sound of that, but well, she decided not to ask anymore.

Nathalie blushed a few shades of red when Amelia explained to her the difference between a ballroom and a disco, really, she had never felt so embarrass her whole life, and actually, it was a good thing, at least now, she's learning. "I didn't really like it at first, it's some sort of a task given to me, but well, after a few times of trying, I have grown to love it, your cousin sounds really interesting Amy, I haven't met a lot of guys who are interested in ballroom." She said with a smile, knowing that ballroom was not really a hobby or a past time that was enjoyed by a lot of guys her age.

Amy felt uncomfortable as Nathalie blushed, feeling bad for exposing her innocent friend to these new things. But at least she was learning now and wouldn't make the same mistake again. It was better to make a mistake in the presence of a friend, rather than someone who would mock her for it. That mistake Amy had learnt a long time ago. "He is interesting. That is the only word to describe him. You will have to wait until you meet him before you can actually make your mind up. He is so different in different lights. But to warn you, he isn't all the gentleman act. He managed to put someone in St Mungo's when the guy crossed him. So thats all i would say, don't get on his bad side because he won't answer for his temper. But it is all for justice, i tell you." She said smiling at the memory of the horrible slime-ball that had been carted off to St Mungo's for a few weeks. Amy hadn't added any detail to the story, because it involved her more than she cared to admit to anyone. But still, she wanted to warn her friend but not scare her. "Don't let this ruin your opinion of him though when you meet him, because i don't think that that is fair." She said, warning Nathalie again. She didn't want her to feel awkward at all around him and she was desperate for them to get on.

"That makes him more interesting I guess, you see, a lot of boys would often do in with the gentleman act, which is not really that pretty to see, I'm tired of that already.." Nathalie said, remembering the sons of her father's business associates who were really acting gentlemanly and all, though deep inside, they're not really like that. "He had a strong sense of justice? Don't worry Amy, it wouldn't ruin my opinion about him, not until I met after all, because I'm not really into stereotyping people." She added, surely, the boy seemed to be probably dangerous, yet, the thought of meeting an interesting and pretty much unpredictable person like him had overcome that anxiety, he's Amy's cousin, so he'll probably be good right?

Amy laughed bitterly. "Yes, most boys play the gentleman act. But i know what you mean, probably more than most people." She said, thinking of her bad experiences with boys who played the gentleman part too well for her liking. She knew more about this than she cared to admit, more than most people expected her to know. "Good, im glad that you don't stereotype, because we wouldn't have got off well together then would we." She smiled, taking the bitter note out of her voice now, not ready to explain the reasoning behind it.

"Amy, can I ask a question?" Nathalie inquired, her voice soft as she tried to think of a way at which she could fully communicate what she had wanted to say, something was actually bugging her mind for quite sometime now, ever since she had actually talked properly with the girl. "Well, do you have... a boyfriend already?" She then added awkwardly, wondering whether she had sounded a bit weird.

Amy raised her eyebrows at the question. She knew where some people would take it, but she wasn't sure whether Nathalie would take it down that path. "Me? Not at the moment. I just broke up with a guy." She said with a sigh. She had recently broken up with the guy because she had felt that he was using her and, she had met someone nice now that she was writing to, but she wasn't sure what would happen with him. She didn't really think that Nathalie sounded weird, but was instead pleased that Nathalie could ask her more questions about it. "Well actually, it kind of depends on what sort of thing you would need to happen to define a relationship..." She started, thinking of a friend... and a situation.....

Nathalie nodded her head in understanding as Amelia answered her question, deep inside though, he had wanted to ask why it was that she had broken up with the guy, but figured that she might be actually invading her privacy if she did so, nevertheless, it seemed like her curiosity had gotten the better of her. "Amy, you don't have to answer me if you don't like to, but, why was it that you broke up with him?" She asked her voice gentle and with caution, as if wary that she might have actually crossed the line, she didn't want Amelia to be offended after all.
