In the chaos of his second year, Jonah had sort of forgotten about his previous Quidditch captain. Well, not forget-forget. Because he could still see Chase-senpai around the school last year. And Jonah had been just a little bit too shy to ask why the captain had decided to leave the team so soon after they'd won the Quidditch Cup and was he disappointed in Jonah for that last game against Beauxbatons. It made Jonah drive to be a better player during his second year, maybe the captain would return to Quidditch then, but Hufflepuff had lost the season quite badly and so Jonah hadn't gotten the chance to talk to the captain. And he hadn't realized that the older boy had been a seventh year and had graduated until Jonah realized a week into the semester that he hadn't seen the captain around. It made Jonah a little sad that he hadn't been able to say goodbye and wish the older boy good luck. Especially since he'd been one of the people that had given Jonah a chance in first year even when he'd been such a mess. Jonah was still a mess now, but he liked to think he was a little less of one now. And since he hadn't been able to wish his captain good luck and congratulate him, he asked his mother to send over a nice katsumori. One in Hufflepuff colors if she could find one. His mother came through for him of course so he sent his nice little gift with a nice little letter.​

It's a little late. Sorry. But congratulations! I wish you all the best luck for outside of school!

[Chase Campbell]

Chase had never taken his decision to step down as captain of the quidditch team lightly, but he had kept feeling like he was disappointing his team. Like he was doing a bad job as a captain even when his team was winning. That didn't mean he hadn't been in the stands for every game during his last year at the school though. Something that had in hindsight hadn't particularly made him feel better. Not when he had watched them lose. He had been trying his best to let quidditch go now that he had graduated, glad he had managed that at all, and yet that was proving to be more difficult than he had foreseen. Which came as a bit of a surprise since he had never started quidditch because he had been in love with it but rather to get his frustration out. What came as an even bigger surprise was the letter that got delivered to him somewhere during the afternoon. The simple idea of one of his former players sending him a letter, let alone a gift, made him feel a new kind of appreciated. Like maybe he hadn't been that bad of a captain after all. So, in a spur of the moment and a truly unlike him fashion, he decided to write back.

Hey, Thanks for the gift, kid. Make sure to give them hell this year, ay? Win that cup. And maybe, you know, stay out of trouble. Or do whatever, really. I guess I don't really have much to say about that anymore. Chase
