Christmas time in New Zealand was much hotter than what Isabelle would have liked. Nonetheless, the girl was going to get out of the house today for nothing better than to see Link and she couldn't help how excited she was feeling. She hadn't seen her boyfriend since moving schools due to the long distance and so she was wondering how he was. Their letters back and forth were nothing compared to seeing each other face to face and the Ravenclaw was delighted that Link wanted to meet her again. It also gave her a chance to get out of the house and away from her siblings despite how much she loved them. The Ravenclaw quickly dressed herself and made her way to Brightstone Village where Link and her had planned to meet. It was sunny and so the girl wore some muggle sunglasses as she walked down the street, practically beaming. When she spotted the park bench they planned to meet at she noticed that she was the first one there and sat down before taking out a book to read whilst she waited. She missed being able to read books just for fun and so at any opportunity she made sure she did so. As her eyes scanned the page, she waited for her boyfriend, wondering what he had planned for the day.

Life had yet to take an interesting turn for Link. His sister was an Auror, and the oldest was a bartender or owner of a restaurant. Link had yet to find anything that truly stuck with him. For now, he worked around his home with his aunt and Saria until something comes along. But, he did have one thing planned for his girlfriend today. They had been dating a while, and decided that now was the best time. He was definitely in love with Isabelle. Of course, he was not going to propose in the most normal of manners. In his hand was a book, which had middles of the pages carved out to sit the ring perfectly in it. Link did hope that she would not judge him too harshly for destroying what could have been a fabulous read. Soon enough, Link found the bench where his girlfriend was. He stopped walking for a moment, just to take in the setting. Smiling to himself, taking a deep breath, he walked over to her before greeting, "Hi, Isabelle." His French accent was hard to miss. Luckily, his English was definitely improving, thanks to his aunt chipping in, as well as Saria. He sat down next to her, and held the book close to him. His hands were trembling a little bit.

As Isabelle saw Link walking towards her, she beamed, moving over slightly so he could sit next to her on the bench. He greeted her in English and Isabelle figured she should speak in English too. After all, it had been improving a lot over the last couple of years and she was beginning to become more confident speaking it. "Hello!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug. She missed his hugs and let herself sink into it before letting go. "How are you? What's it like not going to school anymore?" Isabelle asked this genuinley, hoping he was coping well. Soon enough, Isabelle would be out of school too and she couldn't wait for it. However, she was curious as to what people usually did once they were finished and wondered what Link had been up to lately. The girl took no notice of the book he was holding close to him and was simply more interested in conversation, especially considering the pair of them hadn't seen each other in a while.

It was incredibly hard for Link to keep his hands steady, since they felt like they were going to drop his book at any moment. But he couldn't in case the ring came bouncing out and getting away. That would be the worst way to propose to the one that he loved so much. He hugged her tightly, carefully keeping the book even and steady. She asked him what it was liek not being in school anymore. He gave a slightly shrug, smiling, "It is a little boring. Job hunting hasn't been successful since I don't know what I want to do yet." Link didn't want to really seem down about it, but it definitely came out that way. He fiddled with the book in his hand, before he held it out to her, "Oh, I got something for you. Open it to page 103 and see what's inside." He did hope that she would not chastise him for completely destroying a book to turn it into a ring holder, but it was creative. His sister approved of it.

Isabelle listened as Link spoke to her and frowned slightly at the lack of finding a job. "You will find one soon." she assured him, knowing well that he was only a year out of school and had plenty more years to find something. She looked down at the book in Link's hands when he mentioned it and took it from him, wondering what sort of new literature Link was introducing her to. She liked reading new literature, but she was barely able to turn it around to read the blurb before Link suggested that she open it up to a particular page. With a raised eyebrow, Isabelle did so, opening it up to page 103 like he suggested. When her eyes lay on the ring sitting in the middle of the book, a hole cut perfectly to fit it, she froze, not really sure what this was. She hadn't ever seen a proposal like it before and blushed when she realised just how sweet he was sacrificing a book for a proposal. She took it out of the book and turned it around in her fingers. She smiled up at him and nodded excitedly. "Yes!" Isabelle pulled him into a hug, excited to be able to tell her father the news, before planting a kiss right on his lips.

Link watched, his palms sweating as she opened the book up to the correct page. She seemed like she was frozen, but time felt like it was standing still for poor Link. He should say something. He should actually ask. Link just could not find the words, nor could he move from the bench to get down onto one knee. However, Isabelle seemed to make time return to normal as she cried out yes and hugged him, then kissed him. Well, that was a lot easier than he thought originally. Link pulled away, reluctantly, hoping that from the excitement, she did not drop the ring. That would be devastating. Link smiled, though still in shock, “Really? Um, after you graduate of course.” Link did not want to distract her from her studies. After all, they were rather important to her.
