The Yule Ball had to be one of Matt's favorite events. He just loved the excitement in the air and the yule cheer, it always reminded him of being younger. This year, he had decided on winter decorations again, as that seemed to be Hogwarts tradition. He had decided to take inspiration from the Hogwarts grounds, as they were known to be breathtaking during winter. The floor was covered in a small layer of non-slippery snow, as if they were outside after a snowstorm. Large Christmas trees were present all around the hall, most of them not decorated. It gave the impression of being in a forest clearing during a snowy night. The full moon above shining down on them only added to the illusion. One part of the floor was roped off, enchanted to look and act like an iced-over lake for those students who would like to ice skate. Matt made sure there was a chaperone there at all times in case there were any incidents.
There was also a large dance floor, as well as small tables scattered around the edges to sit and chat. Snack tables were laden with sweet and savory snacks, as well as Christmas-themed drinks. In the center of the dance floor was the largest Christmas tree, with dozens of small gifts under it, one for everyone. Matt hoped the students would like the decorations and would enjoy themselves.
Dressed in a new suit, Matt smiled at the students as they entered the hall. He stepped behind the podium to address them. "Welcome everyone, to the yule ball. I hope you will all enjoy this winter wonderland." He said, smiling proudly. "Feel free to help yourself to snacks and drinks. There are presents under the tree, you are free to take one. The ball will last until midnight, so go ahead and enjoy yourselves!"
