Dominic took a deep breath as he stood in front of all people that were trying out today. He had been honored when Isaak asked him and Cayleigh to take over the team. They had gotten off to a bit of a rough start last year as they struggled to cooperate as a team very well. It was to be expected for such a new team but Dominic hoped he would be able to help with that this year. "Hello everyone! And welcome to this years Ilvermorny tryouts!" he announced. "Nice to see some returning faces but in case you don't know my name is Dominic Torres and I am co-captain of the team this year along with Cayleigh Baros." he explained and gestured to Cayleigh. "So returning members please help out the newbies and get some practice time in. New players please state your name and what position you are trying out for." He instructed, taking time to look at certain members of the returning team, hoping they would be on their best behavior today. "I'm assuming most of you know how quidditch works by now. Keepers watch the goal, beaters watch for bludgers, chasers move that quaffle, and seekers go get that snitch! And lets have some fun!" he said encouragingly and clapped his hands together before motioning to the players to get started.

it still made Eli grumpy that he had been moved to an alternate position, rather than just being take as a regular beater. In his opinion, Isaak had clearly given preference to his own cousin, which he had also done in the position of captain. On top of that, he had picked Dominic too, who... was way too childish in his opinion. But Eli didn't want to give up his position on the team, even if it was just as an alternate. When it was his turn, Eli stepped forward. "Eli Carter, trying out for beater." He said, before flying off with his bat. He flew past a few other students flying around, keeping an eye out for bludgers. He spotted one near a chaser and flew over to it, raising his bat and hitting it hard. A slight smile appeared on his face when he managed to hit it far away from the other player, keeping them from being harmed. He manged to hit a few more bludgers, and was fairly pleased with his performance. He'd missed a few hits too, but for the most part figured he had done a good job. When he was done, he flew back down to the ground and dismounted his broom.

If there was one thing Lucas regretted it was telling Gabriel he wanted to join the quidditch team. His brother had worked him to the bone, but Lucas at least felt more prepared now. He wondered if Einar would be surprised that Lucas was trying out, especially considering he hadn't told Einar. He took a deep breath. "I'm Lucas Ames, trying out for Chaser." He bit his lip, taking a deep breath. He was undeniably nervous, more worried about what Einar would think.

Lucas joined the others in the air, trying to be more assertive there than he was usually. He was steady on his broom, following the others. He caught the ball when it was thrown, steady on his broom as he threw it back. He was steady in the background, catching the ball when it was thrown to him. He was nervous when it came to trying to score, but his training with Gabriel had surprisingly helped, and he scored four out of six throws. It wasn't too bad, he didn't think, but he was still nervous by the time practice was over. What if this had all just been a bad idea? He would just have to wait and see what happened.

Einar was on the pitch for the. try-outs, he. didn't need to try. out but he needed to be there. So, he was rather surprised when in amongst the crowd of students was Lucas. He. hadn't mentioned that he was trying out, Einar would've helped him, he would've done more. But it seemed like he didn't have to. He listened to the new captains, unsurprised by the choices. He just set off on the broom and began to practice. He spent the time mostly watching Lucas, trying to help whenever he could. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, but Einar though it would be fun for them to play together. Least. then if they travelled he wouldn't leave him behind.

Adam didn't know why he had to be dragged out to the pitch to watch some amateurs try and make the team. He had better things to do with his time. Homework, even. Anything. He took his time, strutting down to join the rest of his team at the pitch, and gave the newer players a critical once over. None of them joining the team would have made him any happier. All of his friends were too busy with Quadpot to try out for Quidditch and join him in showing these wannabes what actual skill was. It was tough, being the only decent player on the team.

Everett yawned through Dominic's spiel. He was a step up from Isaak, who of course had chosen his cousin to be the other captain too. If anyone should have been leading the team, it should have been Adam. The team's best player. The keeper reclined on his broom, finding a comfortable spot on the cushioning charm placed over it, and took to the air. "Good luck on your try-outs, Carter." Everett called to the beater, watching with a smug smile as his classmate had to join the ranks of the rest of the newbies all over again. Adam, on the other hand, made no attempt to engage. He'd done enough to prove himself, and realistically, he'd embarrass any student vying for Isaak's old spot. If not even their former captain could get a goal by him most of the time, they didn't stand a chance.

Cayleigh Baros was glad that she was helping out Dominic lead the team. Her heart was not in it this year since the death of her dear cousin, Elsie. Cayleigh walked onto the pitch and looked at the others. She forced a smile, but it was obvious that something was wrong with her. But, she was her. Cayleigh was glad that Dominic took the step up to speak since she did not have it in her. She nodded along, before she hopped on her broom, and hovered, to keep an eye out on the new recruits.

Hope was glad being back at Ilvermorny and ready to continue being an seeker for the team. She hoped that they would win against Beauxbatons this year. She had a lot on her shoulders but the latest practice went good previous year so she had some faith. Their captain was gone and she was curious to see who would take over. Arriving on the pitch not suprised it was the sister Cayleigh and she smiled as she saw Dominic being captain as well. Good for him. Hope smiled to the captains and the rest of the team as she joined them. Hope could not notice but seeing Cayleigh being quiet. '' Are you okay?'' Hope asked the girl friendly. Hoping that there wasn't something bad. She just didn't seemed that happy. Hope saw some new faces trying out ofcourse. And waited for the instructions but already taking her broom to get into the air as soon as possible. Hoping that Noah would be trying out again for alternate seeker it was important they had one.

Cayleigh was not expecting that someone would approach her, but as soon as Hope asked if she was okay, Cayleigh immediately averted her gaze. She sighed before she looked back up, still not making eye contact. Cayleigh finally spoke, "My cousin and my uncle died during summer break in a car accident." It was hard not to love her other side of the family. They were so creative. Not many of them were born for Quidditch, like her father was. Her uncle and his wife were dancers, and they were great at it. The Baros' family just produced a bunch of athletes, and it was common. Cayleigh then forced a smile, "I'll be okay, good enough to help lead, I hope."

Ragan Romanes thought that he could try out for the team, since he thought that his parents played in the past. And it would speed up how quick the year would go by. His mother told him that a cousin of his passed away from a car accident, but he could not attend the funeral or anything. His mom was busy and his dad lived in New Zealand currently. Ragan was also glad that his sister was not trying out with Quidditch. He approached the pitch and saw the captains. One of them was his distant cousin, but they did not know each other well. After all, Ragan was raised away from the Baros' family for the most part. He smiled and beamed, "Hey! Trying out for beater!" Ragan had some upper body strength, so he thought that he would be pretty good at it. Even as a back up. He mounted his broom and took off into the air, to hit a couple of bludgers. If he could anyway. He flew around, and showed his skills by swerving, rolling, diving, and all sorts of tricks (showing off but he could not help it, he was having fun). Ragan managed to hit a few bludgers away from players, since he did not want to actually injure someone during try outs. That would be too harsh. Ragan proved that he had skills, but he also had plenty of room for improvement too.

Joining the Quidditch team last year had been a pretty scary leap, but despite them losing some games, AJ had rather enjoyed it. It'd helped him branch out some, and even if some of team still intimidated him a lot, AJ enjoyed being in the air with them. Joining the pitch for try-outs, he was excited to see Dominic and Cayleigh were their new captains this year, though Cayleigh seemed less enthused about it than Dominic did. Kicking into the air and stretching out his arms some, AJ couldn't help overhear Hope and Cayleigh talking some. He didn't want to be nosy, but his heart went out to his fellow beater. It was tempting to say something, but AJ figured she probably just wanted to be left alone and tried to focus on knocking around some bludgers with some of the new potential players instead. He'd forgotten over the break just how sore playing made his shoulders and arms and made a mental note to stretch better next time as try-outs wound down.

Being on her last year and having heard her cousin graduated in HNZ, Talitha was somehow inspired to try for the game her Ravenclaw couson had been good at for most of her stay there. She had finally figured things out for herself, taking matters into her own hands. No more comparisons and grudges. She stepped into the pitch with the broom she was surprised to receive from Alexis over the holidays. Gripping the handle, she faced the captains and with a small smile, "Talitha Courage, trying for Chaser." Alexis was a chaser too so she would like to see how she would do in that position. She kicked off and after getting acquainted with the feel, she sped off, catching a quaffle and headed for the hoops. Getting closer, she curved her arm and threw it in, a clean goal. She smiled and rounded about, following other chasers for another attempt. She must admit that it was fun as she caught another quaffle and made her way for the hoops again, this time heading for the other side. She faked a left and threw it in. It sailed through and she got more confident. Not too long when the tryouts ended with her managing to score two more goals. She touched down, exhilirated and hopeful she got in the team.

One of Katy's favorite things from her exchange at Hogwarts had been watching her cousin play in Quidditch games. Admittedly, she hadn't known Ilvermorny even had a Quidditch team until she saw a note about try-outs, but now that she felt like she actually had a handle on the rules she figured it couldn't hurt to throw her broom into the ring so to speak. Ilvermorny had a pretty established team, but Katy was just looking for some fun. And plus, if they managed to win some games, maybe Katy could even tag along to play HNZ too. Arriving on the pitch, Katy bounced on her heels, excited to give this all a go. She'd practice some with Elliot over the break when he was their house for a bit and had shamelessly 'borrowed' her brother's broom for this, so she felt more prepared than she was usually for things. "Katy Miller, trying for seeker," She said brightly, kicking into the air. If Elliot could do this then it probably wasn't too hard. She'd spent enough time watching him after all.

It turned out Katy was wrong. Seeking was hard. The snitch was tiny and Katy kept having false starts because she saw a bird or a leaf and got too excited. She circled the pitch, feeling her frustration growing. A few times she definitely spotted the dang snitch, but lost sight of it after a bludger swung past or she got tangled up trying to dodge around the chasers as they moved across the pitch. Finally, finally, Katy spotted the snitch lurking a few feet from the ground. Shooting down after it, she was relieved when the snitch darted up and away from the ground so Katy didn't end up with a mouth full of dirt. She was able to cut it off as it darted up, barely snagging it and managing to keep ahold of it. "Heck yeah!" She called, waving the snitch before it managed to slip out of her grasp and dart away again. Flighty thing. Katy didn't see it for the rest of try outs, but she was satisfied.
