Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now almost everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Chloe was fairly excited for the duelling tournament. She was a little nervous but who wouldn't be their first time. All she knew was that she had to impress her opponent and the referee. Who just happened to be the headmistress herself. Chloe took a deep breath before she took to the stage and bowed to the other girl. Then, she shot the first spell that came to mind. "Rictusempra!"

Tres had certainly never done anything like this before but she felt as though she needed to prove herself recently. She bowed to her competitior and gave her a bright smile, but Chloe was quick off the bat, and Tres had to throw up a shield very quickly. The third year regained her control however, she fired back the leek jinx instead, think it would be funny if it hit her.

Chloe had barely noticed Tres smile at her before, but it was good to make a good impression so she sent her a smile back now, it was polite and probably gave off the idea that Chloe was a nice person. She ducked, and smiled to herself a little, wanting to make things a little interesting already. "Expelliarmus!"

Tres watched as Chloe dodged her spell instead of blocked it. Wasn't this meant to be a duel of magical skill? She flicked her wrist and put up a shield, before sending in the tongue tying jinx with a grin.

"KICK HER BUTT SIS!" Uno called from the audience. This was not really her sort of thing, but she figured she might as well support her sister; the two had been out of touch lately.

Chloe had narrowly missed the previous spell, on purpose, to make it more fun, and she was getting slightly annoyed that she couldn’t get one successful hit. Chloe ignored the voice that came from the audience, it clearly wasn’t for the Ravenclaw. She cast the shield charm to protect herself from the tongue tying jinx, and smiled at the other girl, at least she was having fun. "Tarantallegra."

"BOO!" Uno yelled when the Ravenclaw sent a spell.

Tres was over the moon when she heard her sisters voice calling to her, not even realising she'd been in the group and there to watch. She would not let this Ravenclaw get the better of her! She had to prove to Uno she wasn't the weak one. Tres blocked the girls spell, ignoring her probably fake smile, "You're going downnnnn!" she yelled, before casting the Antler jinx. It wasn't the worst spell but it was probably humiliating.

Chloe was wondering just how many more spells she would have to throw at Tres before one of them gave up or got even the slightest bit distracted. The girl from the audience also certainly wasn’t helping and she found it really unfair. "Hey, if you want to watch the show, be a little less biased!" she yelled to the older girl...whoever she was. This however distracted her momentarily from the spell that Tres had fired at her and she winced as she felt something on her head. Horrified, she realised they were antlers. "Ohhh you did not just do that," she growled. She used Finite to end the effects. "Stupefy!"

Tres chuckled when Uno's calling out was annoying her. She hoped that would mean she wasn't paying as much attention as she should have been. She was right too as her antler jinx hit the Ravenclaw and Tres burst out laughing at the things that sprouted from her head. The third year was too busy laughing to realise Chloe had cast another spell, not having time to block but being small meant that Tres could swiftly leap out of the way. Steady on both feet, Tres cast another stupefy straight back at her as a taste of her own medicine.

Uno let out a loud laugh when the opponent got hit by Tres' spell. "If you want to duel, be a little more good!" She yelled back at the Ravenclaw.

Chloe tried not to get that absolutely humiliating spell get to her. It was simpler than some other spells she learned in class, so surely she should’ve been able to block it even with the annoying older girl trying to distract her (which in her opinion shouldn’t be allowed). At least, Tres had been too busy laughing at Chloe to realise the ravenclaw had fired back. With a smug look on her face, the third year regained control and protected herself once more. She pointed her wand at Tres and cast the jelly fingers curse.

Tres doing a little dance in her part of the stage while Chloe was busy reversing her spell, making the most of having the spotlight on herself where she could relax for a moment. She was determined to beat the Ravenclaw. Blocking her spells was almost too easy, and she threw up another shield but it felt like she was just walking into it. "Stupefy!" she called out again, eventually pointing her wand at her classmate.

Chloe simply smirked when Tres cast the next spell and it was becoming really easy blocking hers, as well, probably just as easy as it was for the other girl to block Chloe’s. "Protego," she cast and smiled when she successfully put up a shield charm. She stood absolutely still for a minute or two, and then, with an unexpected quick flick of her wrist, she cast Stupefy back at her.

This was getting frustrating, she wanted a win so badly. It would be really satisfying to rub it in the girl’s face - the one from the audience, at least. Tres too, but she didn’t exactly care about what her reaction would be. The good thing was that Chloe wasn’t tired just yet. "Protego, Furnunculus!"
