Y33 Dueling Match #10

[Katherine Alicastell]

Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Shane had taken part in this in the year before and had managed to win at least a duel, so he figured he could try his hand at it again. He looked towards the girl, Leda and gave a little smirk and wink as they bowed to each other. But he knew that he wasn't there to flirt and wasted little energy before saying, "Densaugeo"

Leda was looking forward to the duels this year. Even though Mervyn was too scared to participate after the Slytherins torments last year, Leda still hadn’t won a duel right to the end. As she bowed to Shane, unfazed completely by his wink, she tried to think of what he would hate most. Before she could cast a spell however, he shot one at her first, and her already large teeth began to grow in size. It was hard to speak, but she cast out a charm of her own, hoping that the sudden scalping hex would do its thing. She couldn’t imagine someone like Shane losing his precious hair.

Shane couldn't help the certain level of smugness which crossed his features when the spell hit its mark, causing her teeth to grow rather horridly. It would definitely make kissing awkward to have teeth like that. Shane was able to block the girl's spell, and then fired back with a "Stupefy,"

While Shane was blocking her spell, she took the chance to end the one on her face with a simple finite. With her teeth returning to a usual size, it was easy to block the Hufflepuff's incoming stupefy, and she flashed him a grin when it failed to effect her. "Incendio." It was a favourite of hers. Last time it had won her the game, with Mervyn rolling around on the floor as his robes were alight.

Shane smirked a little at the fire spell she sent at him, he liked fire spells, but he wasn't about to get with one, so he blocked it with a simple, quick protego. "Diffindo," was what he threw back, not a very nice spell, since it could hurt the other person, but one he liked anyway.

”Really Shane? Is that it?” She tormented, blocking his incoming spell easily. He was predicable, a trait that made it easy for her to retaliate accordingly. Charms wasn’t Ledas best subject by any means, but she hoped the Hufflepuff wasn’t planning to become an Auror or anything that requires duels in later life. “Stupefy” she called back. Leda was ruthless but at least she wasn’t planning on hurting him. Yet.

Leda smirked, she’d never been called that before. It was almost enough to catch her off guard, but not quite. She blocked his incoming spell, raising her eyebrows at the Hufflepuff. She sent her own jelly legs jinx at him in the hopes it would make him lose balance. “You can? I’m waiting.”

Shane still hadn't decided to remove her previous spell, but the Slytherin hoped it would make it more difficult for him to do spells. He still managed to fire one back at her though, but she was ready in time to block it. "Tarantallegra " she yelled, perhaps it would be a step up.
