OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.

The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Leda held a massive grin on her face as she looked across the room to see her first opponent. She didn't want to hurt anyone so much as practise her spells, but the fourth year thought Mervyn was the perfect student to battle against. They had taken very similar classes and Leda wasnt quite sure if she had the better memory of the pair, but she was determined to do her best none the less. Taking her stance, she raised her new wand, glad to use it for the first time, and uttered as clearly as she could. "Inncendio!" It was fine, Mervyn didn't need his robes, he had plenty more.

Mervyn was more excited than he wanted to let on about duelling Leda. It was just so much more fun knowing they were here to have a good time, and not necessarily to win - though Mervyn certainly wasn't going to go easy on her. He took his place on the stage, did a quick bow, and then got ready to attack. But he was too slow. Leda beat him to it, using the element of surprise to almost cook him to a crisp. He jumped out of the way, unable to bring up a shield quickly enough. "Bloody 'ell," he said. "Steady on. Densaugeo!" He'd been wanting to try out this new spell for a while; hopefully it hit.

Unlike Leda, Mervyn had remembered his manners and bowed to her before they began. The Slytherin however was already much too into the duel to worry about formalities. As she heard the words leave her best friends lips, she made a purposeful decision not to retaliate, curious to see just how big her teeth were going to get. It would probably have been good for them both to know for future reference. " Doo yo likee ma smiell?" She asked through teeth three times their usual size, hands on her hips as she grinned at him. "Tarantallegra" This was turning more into a dance than a fight.

Mervyn snorted as Leda stood there like a lemon and just let the spell his her. Anybody watching would have thought her mad. She was a bit mad, actually. "Boo'iful," he said, mimicking her silly voice. He half hoped she wouldn't be able to pronounce the incantation of her next spell, but alas, she did. "Protego," he said, not ready just yet to embarrass himself. Thinking quickly, he fired off a knee-reversing hex and waited to see if she'd bother dodging this one.

Leda decided to keep her teeth for now. She would have smiled more if she could, at his returning remark. She was a little disappointed that she wouldn't be seeing Mervyn dancing on the duelling floor, but glad he knew how to defend himself. "Al'right." She said through her lisp. She threw out her own blocking charm, before racking her brains for other spells. "Your going dowwwn." She was just glad to be 'fighting' her friend. Why was it so hard to remember jinxes in the moment? Perhaps he would like a pair of antlers! Unfortunately for the Slytherin, it was only after she said the words a third time that she saw the charm leave her wand. Her teeth were clearly becoming a problem.

Mervyn almost got bored waiting for Leda to cast her spell. When she finally managed it, he blocked it with a flick of the wrist. "Wow," he said. "I weren't expectin' that at all." Smirking, he launched into a simpler but often effective disarming spell.

It was hardly surprising when Mervyn could anticipate her moves, that he managed to dodge them. Casting a reversing spell so that she could actually speak clearly again, it seemed as though she did it just in time as she jumped out the way of the Gryffindors incoming charm. "Hey! I was fixing my teeth!" She said, throwing the same spell right back at him immediately, hoping he was too taken back by her protests to see it coming this time.

Mervyn grinned, almost relishing the moment a second too long. He readied himself to deflect Leda's next attack just as it came. "Protego," he yelped, his voice cracking in a way it hadn't done now for many months. His cheeks turned the colour of his house crest. "Rictusempra!" he tried hopefully. Suddenly he really didn't want to lose this duel. Sure, it was only a bit of fun, but his pride was at stake all the same.

Leda grinned as her friend managed to block her attack just in time. "Close one Merv", she said, watching in case he was going to do the same thing to her. Sure enough he cast another spell which the Slytherin was more than ready for. Blocking it easily, she got herself in position with her wand out in front of her. "Expelliamus". Maybe if she could make him drop his wand she would have a better chance of winning.

"Protego," Mervyn said, better prepared this time to block Leda's attack. He'd forgotten how good she was at duelling. Racking his brain for a spell he hadn't used yet, he finally settled for the Jelly Fingers Curse. Leda might have been good, but if she thought she could beat him, she had another thing coming.

Leda really didn't pay that much attention in class, and she was quickly running out of spells. Mervyn seemed to be able to defend himself from whatever he threw at her, though it would have been a lie for the girl to say she wasn't struggling. As if to prove her point, she felt the fill force of the Gryffindors spell when it hit, she she felt all the muscles in her hands relax. "Can't you do something nice?" Exasperated, Leda did her best to fire off a stunning spell before her own wand hit the floor. She bent down to retrieve it and reverse the effects, hoping Mervyn would take something soon.

"There ain't no nice spells," Mervyn pointed out, snickering as Leda struggled to pick her wand back up. He quickly cast a defensive shield as a stunning spell came his way, and then shot the same spell back, hoping to catch her off guard.

Leda glared at him for a moment before regaining the strength to duel properly. Just in time to block his spell. "Are you hungry by any chance?" She asked, firing off a leak jinx, wondering if she was about to see the vegetable growing out of his ears. It would have been amusing in all honesty.

Mervyn frowned. That was a random thing to say. Was he hungry? ... Oh. Mervyn put a hand to his ear, shuddering at the feeling of leeks sprouting there. It tickled, and made it incredibly difficult to hear. "TARANTALLEGRA," he yelled, no longer able to tell how loudly he was shouting.

Leda burst out laughing when Mervyn began shouting around the hall, the sight of green leaves sprouting from his head making her day. She barely managed to catch his retaliation in time, but blocked off the dancing spell that would no doubt have made her into a fool. "DO YOU NEED A MINUTE?" She asked, considerately placing her hands on her hips and giving him a moment to sort himself out.

Seeing Leda's lips move and thinking she was casting another spell, Mervyn raised a shield charm... for absolutely no reason. "WHAT?" he yelled. "STUPEFY!"

Leda hadn't even jinxed her best friend when he was defending himself with a shield. She raided her eyebrows, wondering what else she could do while he was in this deaf state as she defended herself. Once his shield had disappeared, she raised her wand again with very little mercy towards towards him. "Locomotor" the Slytherin uttered, watching him triumphantly to see if he would move.

Mervyn squinted down the stage at Leda, trying to read her lips. It was difficult to tell when to cast Protego when he couldn't hear anything. Instead, he jumped out of the way, dodging a spell that probably wouldn't have even done anything to him anyway. Wanting payback for the leeks, he shot a Bat-Bogey hex in her direction and begged Merlin to let it hit.

Despite being the one of the pair that could hear, Leda wasn't listening. Much too busy giggling at Mervyns impression of a human broccoli stalk, she didn't even know he'd cast something until her face was under attack. She began to slap at her own face, trying to take down whatever was getting at her, the sudden urge to sneeze overwhelming her to the point she could barely focus on her opposition. Mervyn may have been dead but right now Leda was blind.

Merlin had answered his prayers. Mervyn laughed so hard his stomach actually hurt, and he couldn't catch his breath. He'd never seen the hex in action before, and it had exceeded all of his expectations. Once he'd finally composed himself, he stood up straight and sent off a stunning spell, hoping to finish her off.

Leda was in panic mode as she tried to bat away the bag bodies, before regaining her composure and her breath and shooting an evil eye at her counterpart. "You'll regret that". She almost missed the defence but after catching it just in time, she decided to throw out once mkre her favourite spell of all. "Inncendio." She'd started with that, and it was only appropriate she finish him off with it too, after all, Mervyn really didn't need his robes.

"I CAN'T 'EAR YOU!" Mervyn bellowed, at exactly the same time Leda attacked. He didn't even have time to jump out of the way. The spell hit him square in the chest, and all of a sudden he was looking at Leda through a wall of flames. Blinded by panic, he started beating his chest to try to put the fire out. When he realised that wasn't going to work, he dived off the stage and threw himself on the floor, yelling at Professor Warrick, "PUT ME OUT!"

Leda could barely control herself, her laughs not much more than a whisper as she was buckling over watching her friend do a stop drop and roll. She would have put him out if she could, but beyond having the ability, she could barely form a decent sentence right now. The flames coming off him were crisping the edges of his leeky ears, giving the room an aromatic flavour that resembled the green house. Leda wasn't even aware she'd won, too busy crying with laughter at her friends misfortune.

The duel between the two students was certainly entertaining to say the least but suddenly the duel was over and the Gryffindor boy was rolling on the floor at Ryder's feet on fire. The professor pulled out his wand, "Aguamenti," Ryder cast to put out the fire. Incendio was a spell cast surprisingly often during the dueling tournament but this was the first time he'd see it hit someone.
