Y31 Dueling Match #8

[Jon Phillips]

This next match was between another pair of third years. Jon wasted no time leading them onto the dueling platform, explaining the rules and assigning them different ends of the stage. When he was sure they understood everything he stepped away so their duel could begin.​

Cassander had gotten rather far in the dueling tournament last year, nearly beating the last contender for the title of champion for his year, but in the end, he had lost. This year he hoped to take home the title, so he had signed up for the tournament again right away. Cass looked around the chamber at the spectators, looking for a certain Ravenclaw he hoped would be watching, and then returned his attention to his opponent, bowing as was customary. As soon as they were allowed to begin, Cass brought his wand up and immediately cast, "Incendio."

Neven Lurken might not know a lot of people in the school, or anyone, but he didn't really want to face another from his house. Regardless, he was going to do his best. He aimed his wand toward the boy, who cast a spell to ignite him on fire. Rude. He cast a Protego to block the flames, and quickly thought over the spells he had learned. "Furnunculus!"

Of all the spells he didn't want to get hit with during this duel, the Furnunculus spell was probably the one he wanted to avoid the most. Better he lost his wand, or consciousness, than risk losing his pretty face, even if temporarily. He wouldn't be caught dead looking like that. Cass quickly blocked the spell so it didn't even come close to hitting him and then cast, "Stupefy!"

Neven swiftly dodged the oncoming stupefy spell. This was getting good. He aimed and sent out one of his favorites, reducto , toward his peer to try to blast him off the stage.

Cassander made sure to be ready for whatever his housemate was about to send his way next, being able to block the spell from hitting him thankfully. He never really talked to the boy opposite of him but he hoped this duel wouldn't make things awkward in their dorm room later. Cass decided to cast the Jelly Fingers Curse so the boy could drop his wand and effectively end the duel.
