Y31 Dueling Match #3

That year, the first dueling match Jon was the proctor for was between two second years. He walked both of the students up and and onto the dueling platform, and after explaining the rules and assigning them different ends of the stage he promptly stepped away to allow their duel to begin. ​

Please refer to the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.

Finally, Domi's time had come. The duelling club seemed to be the closest thing Hogwarts had to a theatre club, and learning the rules for a fight had been pifflingly easy in comparison to learning a full script for a show. Fighting wasn't really how Domi would prefer to spend her time, but if it was what she had to do to get on a stage, then she was going to give it her absolute best. After a flourishing bow to her opponent Domi moved quickly to try and strike first, wand flying quickly. "Tarantallegra!" She cast, hoping to give anyone watching a decent show out of their duel. That was what really mattered, after all.

Elia was regretting all of her decisions to duel, including when she made it to the floor to see her opponent. She bowed and heard the spell. Elia quickly side stepped to dodge the effects, which thankfully, helped her out. She aimed her wand and fired, "Expelliarmus!"

Domi hadn't thought much further ahead than casting her first spell, figuring that approaching the fight like improv would be a better tactic than trying to plan out any kind of script. She hadn't really prepared for retaliation though and shrieked as the spell was sent her way, barely managing to flinch out of the way. Trying to compose herself, Domi turned the dodge into a slightly clumsy turn and fired back, picking the first spell that came to her mind. "Rictusempra!"

The shriek caused Elia was wonder if the girl even knew what a duel was. She wasn’t going to let herself be hit with a spell after all Elia cast a shield up to prevent herself from laughing. She in turn sent out petrificus totalus toward her peer.

As much as she wanted to be a star at this immediately, Domi hadn't expected to win the entire tournament with no real rehearsal. She had hoped to at least go down in a glamourous and thrilling way though, to really dazzle the crowd with her demise. So when she didn't manage to shield in time and felt the petrifying spell hit her, sending her toppling to the ground in the least dignified way possible, the only thing she could think was 'Damn it!'
